Sanchez, Yay!! I hope it continues for you.
Sangie, I wondered if it was the ticker, but I am paranoid about strangers being able to see my FB pics - I have a fear of some sicko getting his jollies off pics of my kids. FB isn't that exciting, I doubt I would even have it but it makes it really easy to share pics with the IL's so I don't have to bother emailing to different people.
Easha, I am bored bored bored. The activities I take DS to are just starting up again after the holidays, so now I have mothers group, music, topsy turvy (like kindergym?), and we go to a daycare center for him to play sometimes too. So we get out of the house for at least 3-4 mornings each week and DH has friday arvo's off. But after 2.5 years of sitting around home my mind has started to rot. I am thinking of doing some extramural uni papers next semester just to clear out some cobwebs.
Yay Sanchez!!!!! That's fantastic!!!!
I've had a sh#t of a day. Poor Izzy has been really out of sorts. Really whingy and clingy. I'm wondering if a tooth is on the horizon as she was chopping madly on everything today, including my fingers and boy can she bite!
Will try to jump back on later. Am typing on my phone while I feed Izzy. Hoefully she'll be in bed very soon!
Taurean, same here. A has never really grizzled in her life but for the last 3 days she has been grumpy and screws up her face crying sometimes. So different from my normal cruisey babe but she is chomping like mad so I guess her teeth are troubling her. I was hoping she would be one of those kids that pops out teeth and barely notices.
I have to bite the bullet and go shopping tomorrow. I hate it. The shops are over an hour away down a dodgy winding road. But A is running out of clothes so I have to.
Hi All,
Sanchez - yay for sleeping through..... has your bub continued this pattern?? Jaida is one step forward two steps back. Now she is rolling in her sleep she wakes more and just wants to be feed - 3am feed this morning.... aaarrrrgggh feeling like a zombie.
Taurean and Artechim - Jaida has been the same. I have seen the little white teeth push up a little and she has taken to stealing the washer in the bath to suck on and near has a tantrum when I take it back off her (can 5mth old have tantrums :o).
Jaida has also become a little clingy and cries when we leave the room. Other than that we went to playgroup yesterday and although she is the youngest by 5 mths or more she loves just watching all the other toddlers. She also loves the singing and dancing time - I may have a musician/singer/dancer on my hands.
I have also decided to commence a journal for Jaida starting with the pregnancy and working my way through (from what I remember) until she is one. Will be a nice 18th birthday present. I'm looking forward to starting.
Anyway Jaida is waking for a feed
I wish Easha I could say it had continued....she slept through for 2 nights and then had a horrid night again last night! Oh well!
But yesterday we made some progress, she finally took a bottle! Yay for us. So strange, she was a bitgrizzly and itwasnt feed time so I thought I'd give it a whirl with EBM. She was lying on the ground... I handed it to her and she gave it to herself! So bizarre as she would always chew on the teat.... Nup drank it down in a hurry! Must have been hungry!
In other news she got her first pAir of shoes yesterday! Pink Dunlop Volleys! Instantly made her look older with them on her feet!
That's about it for us.
She is calmly watching tv in my arms......such a bad
mother!
Ah well Sanchez at least you got a couple of good nights which is better than none! At least you know she can do it and hopefully she will do it more often for you. YAY for taking the bottle! Her pink shoes sound adorable. My sister bought Ethan some blue and white Nike's which fit him for all of 4 weeks! You can tell she doesn't have kids by the presents she buys for mine lol!
Easha - having a journal is a great idea! I kept meaning to tell you that I love the name Jaida and it was on our list if Ethan was a girl
Art - is A growing out of her clothes? Wow on living an hour away from shops, don't think I could do it although I'm sure DH would be quite happy as then I'd probably spend less money
Taurean - poor Izzy can you see any teeth yet?
Ethan has been a bit whingy the last couple of days too but thankfully he has been sleeping ok. He has started babbling a lot more now. He is already pulling his sister's hair and then she cries and he giggles :wall: Oh lordy I'm in for some fun times ahead!
Hi Girls
Well I finally got Izzy to sleep at about 8.30 on Thursday night and thankfully she did her usual 11 hours overnight. Phew!!! I was shattered. She was just so out of sorts but she was fine on Friday and was fantastic all weekend so what was going on Thursday is anyones guess :dunno:
Izzy seems to be changing every day lately and she suddenly seems so big! She's wearing some 00 clothes and finally she has chubby knees and thunder thighs! She's really mobile too, rolling all over the place (she has finally mastered tummy to back again) and pivots around on her belly. She moves around a lot in her cot too so I never know what position I'll find her in! She's also jumping a lot more in her jumperoo and squeals when she does a really decent bounce. So cute!
We're slowly introducting solids and we've now tried pumpkin a couple of times and she seems to like it. I think I'll try carrot next and then maybe something sweet. I'm pretty relaxed with it as I don't think she's really that fussed yet.
Sleep - still the same. Days are hit and miss, although she is sleeping a lot more in the pram these days, but nights are brilliant. She did 12.5 hours the other night and this morning she slept in until 8.30! We were stoked with that given we'd had a late night at a friends house last night. I'm dreading teeth as I'm sure that will be the end of our good nights.
Sangie - nice avi! Congrats on your RAK too! Ethan sounds super cheeky! Izzy has started pulling my hair lately too. She tends to grab it when I'm carrying her and just doesn't let go. It's like she's holding onto one of those straps you hold when you're standing up on a bus!
Sanchez - V's shoes are so cute!! Izzy has about 5 pairs of shoes but she doesn't fit into any of them yet. I actually came close to buying her some Dunlop Volleys the other day but thought I'd wait til they're on sale. What a bugger the good sleep didn't continue but at least she's taking a bottle now - that's great news! Izzy has loved bottles as much as boobies since she was 3 weeks old and I'm so grateful. Has made things a lot easier.
Easha - Izzy has little tantys now too, especially when we take her out of the bath. She also loves sucking on face washers - what is that all about??? Izzy is a huge fan of dancing and music too. Giggles constantly when we dance at Gymbaroo. All the other mums all laugh back at her and she just giggles more. It's so adorable!
As for filling in the weeks - I do have some boring days but I generally try to go out every day, even if it's just for a walk. Monday's we have mothers group, Tuesday is swimming and Wednesday is Gymbaroo. This Thursday I'm also going to a Mums and Bubs session at the movies with the MG girls. We're seeing Valentines Day so that will be fun. I often go for walks and take advantage of the times we go out to scheduled things (like swimming) to then catch up with friends or go shopping afterwards. I see my mum quite a bit too. Being a mum is so damn demanding and busy but really boring sometimes too, isn't it.
Art - must have been something in the air. Was it a full moon last week? Quite a few people I know had problems with their kids late last week. How was your shopping? Have any luck? I'm with Sangie, I don't think I could survive if the shops were an hour a way but I know my DH would be thrilled! LOL.
I hope you all had a lovely Valentines Day. We chose not to do anything this year (we normally use it as an excuse to go out for lunch or dinner) but I kind of celebrated on my own yesterday. I used my Christmas present from DH - a 3 hour day spa gift voucher! DH had Izzy for 4 hours while I was pampered to the max. A full body scrub, a massage, a facial and pedicure. It was divine! I even snuck in a couple of cheeky champers during my treatment. It really was heaven.
Well I should get myself to bed. We've been at a 3 year old birthday party all afternoon and the hot weather has knocked me for six. Night!!
Valentines Day....i didn't even notice! DH had done a night duty so i stayed out of the house until 12pm so he could sleep, then he woke and took Violet while i vac'd and mopped the floor - then he went back to work!
Can I ask you girls a bit of a personal question.....How is everyones libido doing? I seem to have misplaced mine and I don't know whether thats normal or not.
Taurean - 11.5 and 12 hours nights is insane! What a champion baby! I am green with envy....no wonder you always look so fresh in your photos! I am going to attempt the mums and bubs movies on thursday as well - it is Valentines Day here as well. Izzy has so many shoes! I never thought about buying her shoes. When she was born i thought her feet looked long - and she fits the 1/2. Talk about chubby legs - have you seen Violets! I thought they were normal chubby baby legs until someone pointed out to me that Violet was the only baby in the group that has them! Apparently they might thin out when she starts crawling! :crossfingers:
Sangie - Thats so funny he grew so fast out of his shoes! Did he wear them much?
Art - any sign of teeth on the horizon?
AFU - sleeping is still hit and miss, last night was a miss and i am dead tired today! V is quite content just lying around and not really trying much new! Still cant work out to jump in the jolly jumper! Still not rolling from tummy to back. Is talking a bit more though.
Can't believe she is going to be 6 months soon - crazy how fast time flys. I can't help but think i am excited for the next baby I have......not for awhile though!
Hi Everyone
Im in a bit of sleepless hell at the moment..Im pretty sure Indigo is teething as she is constantly chewing on things/drooling etc I am using oral gel and panadol but its not helping as she is only sleeping 4 hours max over a 24hr period she is grumpy and irritable so Im hoping that some teeth come through soon!! When she is asleep one of the boys seems to wake!!
I have to sleep her in a grobag now because she rolls in the cot and gets her legs stuck between the rails..I found her asleep the other night on her tummy with both legs out the side of the cot. I wrap her top half - kinda like a straight jacket if she is flailing her arms around when really tired.
I havnt started my pill yet as I was on antibiotics last period, I had to take the Morning After Pill last week due to accident....so crossed fingers for period in 2 weeks as I was ovulating when I took the M.A.P :o
Bye for now
We tried some solids the other week and she has had rice cereal and some apple.
Nicola just wanted to say hang in there. Your doing a top job...let's hope it's the teeth!
Hi All,
Sounds like were all having lack of sleep at the moment.
Sanchez - love the volleys will get a pair for Jaida too when a little older. I too am a bad mum when it comes to TV. This is the only time I get an housework done. Jaida loves Raggs the Dog - I suppose for all the music.
Sangie - its amazing what bubs can achieve if you just leave them be. We put Jaida on the floor to come back and find her facing the opposite direction. I can see her getting frustrated with not being able to move forward as well so I think she try to figure out crawling soon.
Nicola - hugs for you... it is so tough to try and do this on lack of sleep. I have put Jaida down for the 3rd time for her morning sleep and she is just refusing at the moment. I am trying the let her whinge method cause there is nothing more I can do. Hope bub sleep patterns improve for you.
AFU - tired.... oh so tired... Jaida is still waking on her tummy a few times a night and unfortunately once I'm awake it takes aaagggggeeesss to fall back to sleep.
We live in Brissy which is about 32 degrees each day at the moment and poor Jaida spends the day sweating particularly when feeding. Bring on autumn. Anyone else live in Brissy?
Easha, I used to live in Brisbane (Camira/Springfield area) when DS was born. I basically spent the whole summer inside with the aircon going because it was so flipping hot.
Nicola, that is tough going. I hope she pops a tooth or three soon so you can get some rest.
Sanchez, I really hope that V settles into better sleeping patterns soon. I seem to hear of a lot of bubs getting better around the 8 month mark. A loves watching T.V too.
Sangie, A and DS together are so adorable - she thinks he is the best thing ever! Any time he comes close she grabs at him and he is always climbing onto the couch to give her cuddles. If A cries, W comes up and gives her a kiss and says "she loves that, she feels much better now".
Taurean, your pamper session sounds great! I have never done anything like that but I am planning to get my hair cut when the bald patches (from the post baby loss) grow back.
The shopping went well, A managed to sleep the whole way there and back and was happy as larry in the sling all day. I got her size 1 body suits and all-in-ones because the 0's fit nicely but there isn't much grow in them. The ones are a bit loose but not too bad.
Hi ladies
Hope all is well with you and bubs. Sorry I haven't been back in after asking if I could join thread don't know where the time gets to some days.
We have had a shocker this weekend as were flooded after the storms hit Sydney on Friday night so all downstairs carpets have had to be taken up and chucked out and just waiting for insurance company to tell us what the next step is going to be. House is in a bit of chaos as we had to move furniture etc so who knows where anything is. It meant that Sam got moved to sleep in his own room a little bit earlier than planned as our bedroom is downstairs and was effected by the flood. It didn't bother him in the slightest but is a little bit sad to know that he is not sleeping in the same room as us any more.
Don't know about your little ones but Sam is all over the shop at the moment in relation to routine. Some nights he sleeps through others he doesn't some mornings he will only go back for 40 minute nap and others he will do over 2 hours. Feeding also seems to be all over the place and he is getting quite fussy on the breast at the moment. Lots of kicking me, whinging when on, crying when he takes himself off. Not really sure what is going on so if anyone has any ideas please let me know.
Taurean your pamper session sounded great must get to do something like that soon. So far Sam has managed to attend all of my waxing sessions including being held in my arms twice as I was waxed but have left him at home when I've had my nails done. My next challenge is being able to keep the hair appointment that I've made.
No rolling at our end yet though he manages to get him self from one end of the cot to the other. So far he only appears to do this during the day at which stage he wakes himself up as he is out of the covers and gets a little bit cooler as we've air con on in his room. Fingers crossed he doesn't start moving too much at night. I started him at Gymbaroo today so I am sure he will have rolling down pat in a few weeks so I can join the land of the sleepless.
I think a few of your little ones go to Gymbaroo already do they enjoy it? Today probably wasn't that great as he fell asleep in the car on the way there and then decided he wanted a feed - only two hours after he had last fed! so we missed most of it as I had to feed him. I've booked him in for the remainder of the term though so keep my fingers crossed we time things better for next week.
Going to slowly start to introduce solids to Sam. Any suggestions on what time of day you found to be the best to have their "meal" at? I tried some rice cereal over the weekend and while he didn't spit it back out think he might have been a bit more enthuastic about it if he had been hungrier.
Anyway my bed is calling me so will talk more tomorrow.
Hey ladies!
Nicola - you poor thing, I hope things settle down for you soon so you can get some rest. Hang in there!
Art - yay for the successful shopping trip. Your kids sound so cute together. DD loves to play 'peek a boo' with Ethan. It's so cute watching them both giggle together.
Now we're 3 - OMG at the flooding, how terrible. I hope you get it all sorted out soon. Do you have to go out and buy more furniture too? I hope you get to enjoy gymbaroo :)
Easha - we are in Melb and its been pretty hot here too, thank god for air con hey?! How did Jaida go last go, fingers crossed you both got some decent sleep.
Taurean - yay for the pampering you lucky thing!
Sanchez - no he only wore his shoes a few times and then they didn't fit, he must have had a growth spurt just after he got them! I have a cure for your boredom hun, have another baby he he! I don't have much time to be bored with two littlies. I remember feeling a bit bored when I just had DD though so I started some casual work when she was around 9 months old. Maybe join some activities if you can? We go to playgroup and swimming lessons which takes up two mornings a week. We also catch up with my mum and MIL most weeks too.
AFU - been busy as DH has been away for work. I have a whole new respect for single mums! It's hard work with two littlies and being on my own. He got back on Sun but he is going again tomorrow and won't be back till Sat evening. On top of that Ethan has decided to not sleep during the day again unless he is in my arms :wall: At least I can be thankful that he is sleeping through the night which I really need after crappy day sleeps. We had a roast last night and I gave Ethan a taste of roast pumpkin. He seemed to be quite impressed with it and opened his mouth wide open for more lol! So I might start him on solids and see how we go.
Typing on my phone so this will be a quickie (pardon the pun...) - Sanchez, my libido is MIA too. From what I've been told and read it's very normal. It's due to the low levels of estrogen from breastfeeding. That's what also makes it dry down there. It's natures way of protecting us from getting pregnant. My doctor assured me things should return to normal when I stop breastfeeding or even semi-normal when AF arrives.
It feels weird to be completely uninterested, doesn't it!!!
Hi all
Sangie - oh the single mother thing - I can't understand how women do it day after day. I would be completely lost without my DH and other network i have around me. I too have a huge respect for these women. And also the women that have multiple babies - i can't wrap my head around that either!
Thats no good about Ethan only sleeping on you....I did that for ages, i got nothing done apart from watch a lot of TV!
NW3 - OH NO! What a nightmare you are living at the moment. I saw the news, that water was crazy! At least you had insurance i guess. But oh the hassle of it all. I have no answers about your bub playing up on the boob. It did take me a while to work out that when V is pulling herself on and off and being awful on the boob she needs to get rid of gas, i sit her up for a minute she does a huge burp and goes back on happily - but that doesn't sound the same for you. Keep perservering honey.
Art - good to hear the shopping went well - i guess it does have the advantage of you spending lots of money on useless stuff you don't need! A is just precious in her pics!
Easha - I am in Brisbane on the northside and the heat is killing me. I sit inside all day in the airconditioning because i refuse to go out in the heat.I don't think i should be living in Brisbane! What side do you live on?
We have no routine in this house - Tizzie Hall didn't last long! She is back to being all over the shop. I gave her a bottle of formula last night to see if that would make her sleep any better - no. I too brewed up the old pumpkin last night and she started on that - Loved it! So have frozen some and will work our way through it before i switch to a new vege! Easha i gave it to her after her bath time so about 6pm when she is happy, however she ended up with pumpkin all over her so sort of cancelled out the bath IYKWIM!
Violet came out yesterday in an awful rash all over her trunk front and back and up her neck - awful. I took her to the doctor who said it looked like a viral rash whatever that is, she wasn't concerned as violet doesn't appear unwell. I was worrie it could be measles or something. But then i thought about it and i had given her mango the day before. Apparently a lot of young ones have reactions to stone fruits. That and i didn't realise they will react on the 2nd time they have the fruit not the first, because the body has to create antibodies after the first time she eats i. So maybe she is allergic to mango? I don't know, but the rash is no better today.
She is asleep on DH's chest at the moment - going to take the oppurtunity to have a cup of tea....I never seem to get through a full cup these days, my house is littered with half drunk cold glasses of tea!!
Hi ladies
I know you've all been experiencing issues with day sleeps recently but am just wondering how many day sleeps you are trying to get your little ones to actually take. And how long you leave them up for before you try to get them to go to sleep or if you just wait for the tired signs. (I know when they were younger it was max of 1.5 to 2 hours up but don't know if there is any rule of thumb for the age they are now).
I normally put Sam down as soon as I see the tired signs or might try if he has been put for 2.5 hours even if he is not appearing to be tired. I am trying to get him to have 3 naps during the day though will leave it at 2 if one has been a very long one. My issue is normally around the third nap and its timing. I don't want it to be too close to his bedtime as then I find it more difficult to settle him for the night.
What are you girls trying to do - even if its not working :D
Cheers
NW3 - I will tell you the tizzie routine even though it's not quite working, the nap times are pretty consistent With when she is exhausted.
Up at 7am & feed........down at 9am for sleep
11am feed.......down at 1pm for sleep
3pm feed....... 4.30 nap if baby wants it
5.15 bath......6.30pm feed
7pm bedtime
10.30pm dreamfeed
that's the tizzie way! At the moment V is getting the morning sleeps right on time but somedays only does at 40 min sleep and others does the 2hr sleep.
Libido? What's that?
This is Ethan's routine on his good days (which are very few atm :wall:)
Feed 8am
Sleep around 10am for 45mins
Feed 11am
Sleep around 12.30pm for 1.5hrs
Feed 2pm
Sleep around 3.30pm for 45mins
Feed 5pm
Bath at around 6.30pm
Feed 7.30pm
Bed by 8.30pm
Lately he's been missing the afternoon sleep and only having a short nap at lunchtime. It's clearly not enough cos he gets really overtired and cranky. Hoping to get back on track soon, it was so good while it lasted!
Sorry had to finish up first post quickly as little noises were coming from a certain young mans bedroom. However all okay :)
Totally with you ladies in relation to admiration for single mothers. I have no idea how they do it on their own 24/7! Its hard enough with someone else to help and we've only got 1.
Art can't believe you had to buy 1s. We are still in a combination of 000 and 00. He is a still a skinny little thing though he has plenty of little chubby bits. I hope I am feeding him enough maybe he'll grow more when he eats solids. It is hard not to worry however as you can't help comparing to other babies that are so much bigger.
Sanchez know what you mean about half drunk cups of tea. I go round the house picking them up at the end of the night. Don't blame you for being concerned with rash. There are so many unknowns with a new baby with so many things having the same symptoms.
Still no real news from the insurance company. They've had so many calls and things to sort out its going to take another while before they send out an assessor to work out what needs to happen next. We are lucky as our living areas plus two other bedrooms are all upstairs so is just our bedroom and entrance that had the water in. Furniture all appears to be okay with just the carpet damaged.
Easha hope you had a better night last night with regards to the waking up to to rolling. I had a 3.30am call last night but managed to get back to sleep fairly quickly once he'd fed and gone back to sleep. I am lucky as he self settles once he's been fed so no messing around trying to settle him. Am crossing my fingers as I say this in case I jinx myself and he suddenly changes and needs to be settled.
Hope all is good with everyone else. Have a good night everyone and more tomorrow no doubt.
Our 'routine' around here is:
7am wake up
10am feed and sleep for 45 minutes
1pm feed and sleep for 45 minutes
4pm feed and sleep for 45 minutes
she would have another nap around 7pm but then she won't go to bed until very late so we have been holding her off until around 9ish after DS is in bed.
NW3, try not to compare - my two kids are nowhere near the same even with the same parents/techniques etc
No libido here, none at all.
Hi All,
Art - size 0 already.... you must have gooooodddd milk ;). Jaida is still in 000. Her dad is only little though and we are both short. Had her weighed yesterday and she is 6.35kgs.
Now we're 3 - hows the clean up going.... we had heaps of floods here yesterday but we weren't effected.
Sangie - agree with you re: single mums - DH is going away for 4 nights for work aaarrrrrggghhh so I will be a single mum so to speak for a few days. Am trying to fill the days with activities so I don't go crazy.
Sanchez I live in Algester - were in Nth brissy do you live.
No libido for me either - would rather sleep - poor DH although in between looking after Jaida and cleaning and cooking I am still 'servicing' DH otherwise WW3 would surely commence IYKWIM.:lol:
Would love for Jaida to have 3 sleeps during the day.
Our routine
Feed 4:30am
Sleep immediately
Feed 7:30am
Sleep from 9:30am usually on 45mins
Feed 10:30am
Attempt another sleep at 12:30 or feed at 1pm and attempt another sleep after this usually only 45 mins
Feed 3:30- 4pm
Bath 5:30pm
Feed 6pm
Bed 6:30-7pm
Maybe Jaida considers her sleep after the 4:30am her 1st sleep of the day. The good thing is Jaida goes straight to sleep after this and also at bed time at night. I can also just put her down in her cot and she is happy to entertain herself there for awhile. She may not sleep but she is content. This is what usually happens with the afternoon sleep. Luckily she is mostly a happy bub so even if she doesn't sleep she is usually not to grumpy.
Hi girls,
Wow it looks like a lot of us are putting up with slightly grumpy babies at the moment… I have no idea for whats causing it – teeth, frustration, hunger… just trying to roll with it and thanking god for good sleeps at the moment!
We have started solids, I gave T my half eaten apple on the weekend and he loved sucking it so I figured I would try a few small things and see how he went. We have had sticks of cucumber, carrot (doesn’t seem to like that yet), 1 small bit of watermelon, and avocado off a spoon he holds himself. I’m quite impressed with his dexterity. I’m trying to resist the temptation of giving fruit too soon, as I’ve read they can get a sweet tooth – so just in case there is some truth in it, we’ll hold off. Pumpkin is a great idea Taurean – we may have to try that soon.
We are also still weaning onto a bottle. It’s going well – loving taking my time over it, as I think you’d get quite a shock if you had to suddenly stop after spending so many hours feeding for the past 6 mths. We are onto 2 bottles and 3 BF’s. We have also cracked 7kg – yay.
Art – we definitely get an overtired bub at times. If I don’t get him into bed when he is tired it will build up and then he finds it really hard to fall asleep, and will cry or just be unsettled. T seems to be quite fussy about how and when he will sleep, needs to be wrapped with a dummy in his cot. Although today he proved me wrong and fell asleep in the buggy with no dummy in! Right when I was thinking, this walk is a good idea as an alternative to a 4th day sleep – he proved to me he still needs 4 sleeps
Easha – Great idea on the journal. I had a pregnancy one which I updated the first 2 months, but have been so slack recently. I need to get back into it! It will be great for them to read back over when they are grown up – and fun for you to remind yourself too! I don’t seem to get too bored at home, probably spend way too much time on the internet! Uploading photos, emailing, BB, FB, shopping! I usually go out probably 3 times during the week, just to buy something small / supermarket / visit a friend. But I have DH home on Wednesday’s (working but at home) and the weekend. Also I know I am going back to work – so it makes it easier to enjoy. It is hard trying to find small activities to fill in the gaps. You could find some art or craft thing to do, baking/cooking, walking with the buggy, cleaning – boo that’s no fun tho. Also, we are having tantrums too – when I got T out of the highchair twice in a row he has cracked it so much I thought I’d hurt him somehow, but today he cracked it as soon as I unbuckled him – knowing what was coming. At least he is enjoying trying out the food!
Taurean – funny how they suddenly get or seem ‘big’ about 5.5mths huh. Tadhg feels so solid now, don’t you love those chubby little leggies. Loving the day-spa day, that must have been awesome
Sanchez – yay for a couple of good nights sleep, reassuring to know V can do it. I hope she gets back into it asap for you! Those shoes are so cute! Girls and shoes is much more fun than boys, I think. Poo that the Tizzie routine didn’t work out, it is pretty strict though huh! I hope you can work out some routine – with that being said, it sounds like a lot of us have little idea how long each sleep will last 45 mins to 2 hours! Libido wise – mostly I just don’t even think about it! Although, maybe TMI I definitely think my CM is coming back (I guess its related to weaning). Bugger I hadn’t even thought about AF coming back! LOL Thanks for the info on stone fruit… I didn’t know. T also has a rash on his forearms today which I’m wondering could be from the highchair somehow. Wonder if Avocado counts as a stone fruit? Maybe I should hold back on it for a while. Hmm! Hope V’s rash clears up soon.
Now we’re 3 – you poor thing with the flooding, not what you need! T is also really fussy on the breast too, apart from random occasions. Doing what you describe, kicking and flexing his back, then crying when he comes off and only sometimes wanting to go back on. I have put it down to a mixture of too much going on around him, and my milk coming a bit slow. Not sure if my milk has changed much, or if he is now used to the bottle which delivers a steady flow… but for me it is making the choice to wean a bit easier. It seems to help T if I sit in a quiet room and relax and wait patiently; I hope it gets easier for you! I don’t want to make a storm in a tea-cup, but my opinion is that bubs should be left as long as possible (near 6 mths) before you start solids. The more room in their little tummies for milk, the better as it’s the perfect food for them nutritionally. Also, digesting food can be quite hard on little tummies. But I know plenty of people who start solids at 4 months and get along fine… We started trying some food at the midmorning feed, because I’m showered and relaxed, not trying to do my own lunch yet, and T is quite awake – it seems to be working well (only 3 days into it!).
Sangie – well done for managing without DH, its hard enough with one – so you deserve a medal too!
Ps. T rolled for the first time last night at a friends house – he saw it but both Tim and I missed it! Waiting for a repeat…
Hi Girls
Kelly - T is so cute!! Great to hear he has started rolling too although it can be frustrating for them at the start. Izzy is a real pro now. Back to tummy, tummy to back - rolling everywhere and she loves it! I often find her off her rug now though and doing 'snow angel' type movements on the floorboards. LOL! Izzy likes pumpkin but she LOVES carrot! She tried it for the first time yesterday and scoffed it! Highly recommend it, just good old pureed carrot.
Easha - lol re: servicing! I'm letting DH service himself!! Bad wife! He he he. Jaida's routine is a bit like Izzy - lots of 'ifs'! As long as Jaida is happy then I wouldn't be worried at all. It is frustrating when they get cranky and overtired though but still won't sleep, hey.
Art - PMSL. Our libidos have officially left the building. Hmmm, I wonder when they will return?
NW3 - OMG, you poor love!! We saw the floods on the news! Glad to hear you're coping with it all so well and thank god for insurance! As for routine, we don't really have one to be honest as Izzy is such a busy body that she likes to fight day sleeps when we're home. I do find that she has three naps throughout the day though but the first nap will often only be 20 minutes. Anyway, here is a rough idea of how our day works (keeping in mind we go out a lot):
7-8am - wakeup and feed
9-10 (so 2 hours later) top up feed and attempt to put Izzy down for a sleep. We often go for a walk around nap time and she nods off in the pram - anywhere from 20-60 minutes. We're not usually that successful at getting her down for a nap in her cot in the morning.
10-11am - feed
12-1pm - Izzy has a nap. We are usually out so this nap will either be in the sling, the pram or car. Anywhere between 20-60 minutes
1-2pm - feed
2.30-3.30 - Izzy often nods off mid afternoon for a good nap. We can usually transfer her during this sleep so she goes from the car seat to the sling to the pram and so forth. This sleep has been 2 hours lately. It seems to becoming more regular.
5pm(ish) - feed
6pm(ish) - bath
7pm(ish) - last feed and settling for night
8pm(ish) - sleep for the night. 11-12 hours straight.
As you can see, we have a good night routine but our days are all over the place. I just look for tired signs and work on a rough 3 hours feed schedule. It works for us and I love the fact that Izzy is so mobile. I would love it if she would nap at home in her cot but she just fights it most mornings and I usually get out of the house in the afternoon so she sleeps on the go. The afternoon nap seems to becoming quite a regular thing though so I think I'll try putting her in her cot for the arvo nap starting tomorrow.
Sanchez - thanks for the stone fruit tip! LOL at the half drunk cups of tea. I only have one tea a day and that's during Izzy's first feed for the day so I manage to finish that one. I have lots of random glasses of water throughout the house though...not to mention several 'To Do' lists that are half done!!
Sangie - boo hoo for crappy day sleeps again! Have you got a sling? I LOVE our sling. It really is my best friend. Hey, can I ask, what is your DD's name? I've always been curious!
AFU - I experienced our first solids poo today!! Izzy tried carrot for the first time yesterday and LOVED it and you guessed it, today we had a kind of solid poo sprinkled with carrot! LOL! I gave her more today for lunch and she really enjoyed it. So pumpkin and carrot get the thumbs up. Hmmm, what next? This is fun!
We went to a Mums and Bubs movie today, Valentines Day, and it was great! Izzy was a perfect angel and was mesmerised by the mega sized TV so she just sat there sucking on her teething toy and her spew rag!! LOL! She fell asleep in the sling for the last half an hour then had another 2.5 hour nap in the pram while mum and I were shopping in the afternoon. I was one very happy mummy today!
Izzy has really stepped up the language in the past few days and it's bloody hilarious! She's trying out all sorts of new sounds and basically won't shut up. I guess this was always a possibility given her mum is a bit of a motor-mouth ;)
Rolling is full on now and she's all over the place - often off her blankets and wondering how the hell she ended up on the hard floor boards! The look on her face is priceless!
We tried a sippy cup the other day as Izzy has taken over holding her bottles and keeps reaching out for our drinks! She loved it and was so proud of herself pulling it in and out of her mouth, smiling in between. It was so cute!
Anyone else experiencing mini tantrums?! Izzy is chucking them when she doesn't get her way or when she is a bit overtired. I didn't know whether to laugh or cry when she cracked it at Gymbaroo yesterday then threw her toy at me! It was so funny but a little worrying. I think I have a fiesty one on my hands!
We're moving out of our place this weekend and into our temporary home for a few weeks - DH's boss' apartment. It'll be a bit like a mini-holiday as the apartment is in West Perth so walking distance to the city and some really good restaurants. We're only going to paint our new place and recarpet it before we move in so we should be living there in about 3-4 weeks time. If all goes to plan, we'll knock it down in about 18 months time. We built the house we're in now and loved the building experience so we can't wait to do it all again. We've already started looking at display homes and getting an idea of what we want next time. It's going to be great fun!
I guess I should get to bed as I've got a big day of last minute packing tomorrow. Big hugs and kisses to all of you and your gorgeous bubbies!!
Hi All,
Kelly - Great to hear bub is rolling, its exciting to watch and they are so proud of themselves when there over. Jaida still only rolls back with my help so that's a little annoying but she's not far off doing it herself. My DH also works from home so it is great to have him around so I can have a shower in peace!!
Taurean - Love the babbling. We cant get a word in edgeways with Jaida sometimes and I swear she's said 'hi' a few times. She loves talking during breastfeeding too .and doing raspberries on my nipples :o I've Jaida with the sippy cup in the bath. She got the hang of it pretty quick and eagerly held the cup herself. It still tastes a little plastic at the moment so the look on her face was priceless - eeeeewwww. She does the same at swimming when she gets a mouth full of chlorine.
We started music group today and I'm not sure whether Jaida is too young. She seemed to love all the songs and watching all the other kids but it is targeted at kids that can at least walk. Although shes little, she got quite heavy after carting her around to all the actions/songs.
What else.... Jaida is 5 months today - my gosh it has gone so quickly
Easha - sounds like you have a little chatterbox! Lucky you with a DH working from home. I have to plan my showers lol!
Taurean - yes I have a sling but Ethan isn't a fan of it. If I'm desperate I'll put him in the pram and go for a walk or wheel it up and down our hallway until he goes to sleep. My DD's name is Elena. I think I'm just used to writing DD instead of her name lol! Good luck with the move, glad its you and not me lol I hate moving! Tantrums already :o !
Kelly - T sounds like he is doing great with solids. I've also heard that giving fruit first can cause a sweet tooth. No idea if there is any truth to it but I'm happy to start with veg first anyway.
I can hear my little man so better go. He had a later nap than usual today so fingers crossed he still sleeps ok tonight. Had a rough night last night. He was up at 3am for an hour then woke for the day at 5.30am. Have no idea why :wall: He wasn't hungry, just wanted to talk and smile at me which it made it hard for me to be mad at him lol! Of course he does this when DH is still away
Forgot to say that Ethan sat up by himself today for around 20 mins before toppling over. He was so proud of himself, grinning the whole time!
Hi All,
Quick post today
Sangie - hows the sleeping going now?? Jaida has slept through the entire night for the last 2 nights.... fingers crossed this continue and I better shut up now before I am jinxed. How exciting with you bub sitting. Jaida sits quite comfortably in a donut but still needs some support. Aaaahhh they grow up so quickly
Am going to be starting Jaida on solids soon as well - I'm quite excited and am looking at the Baby Led weaning method... am reading up on it now. Anyone doing this?
Any advice on good highchairs and do you ave any ideas about where I can get a spill mat for under the highchair?
Thanks
Hey!
Pretty quiet in here this week - hope we're all out enjoying the end of summer :) Strange to look forward to cooler weather isn't it!
Easha - We are doing Baby Led Weaning, and Art is as well. I am suprised by how well Tadhg has taken to it. He is loving trying all new foods and eating heaps - which according to the BLW book doesn't always happen, often they are busy getting used to the taste and texture of foods for several months before they really ingest it. But Tadhg is chowing down, and even had toast crusts with marmite yesterday which i expected him to suck but - devoured! I'm trying to keep lots of veges on the plate, but he is loving the pear (tinned) and watermelon too. Definitely recommend giving it a go :D For highchairs, we got one like the Ikea plain white ones. Very simple, cheap, nowhere for the food to hide, easy to clean, and you can remove the legs if you want to take it with you anywhere. I don't have a messy mat, as we have tiles - but you can get the plastic stuff from spotlight, or just get cheap table cloths you can throw in the wash. Also, we had the same face with the sippy cup and water - doesn't take them long to get used to it though.
Sangie - cool news on Ethan sitting up by himself, what a milestone - and should make those usual frustrations of wanting to sit and play / tantrums a whole lot less one hopes!
Taurean - how is solids going? It is so fun isn't it - apart from the nappies!! Ewww. So cute how the little noises are now sounding so much more like words isn't it. We have a talker too - Tadhg may only just be rolling, but talking we can do! Was so cool to hear him say Mama and now he repeats it over and over. This morning i woke up to 'mama, mama' from his cot - aawww :D We are getting mini tantrums too - not too bad, but gets really grumpy if he is left alone to play or put somewhere he doesnt want to be. I guess they are learning how to get their own way lol. The movie and shopping day sounds awesome... could get used to that huh. I hope the moving process is all going smoothly - looks like you are loving the new lifestyle already (facebook) - great news.
How is everyone else?? :)
Kelly
Easha, my highchair has a lift out tray that sits inside the tray iykwim so you can just pull that out and clean it without having to take the whole tray out - it is a feature I like. As for spill mats, with DS I got a cheap shower curtain from the $2 shop and (since your post reminded me) I got a plastic table cloth for $3 today. I also have an understanding with the dog - she slyly cleans up all the dropped food and I turn a blind eye and don't growl her for scrounging lol We did BLS with DS and will do with A when she is ready. There are a few threads in the feeding section that should give you some ideas of foods to try.
Sangie, I love your DD's name! It was on my list but DH veto'd it. Yay for E sitting. It makes life so much easier now that A can sit. She loves to sit on the bench while I make snacks etc for DS.
Hi to everyone else, have to make this quick because I am supposed to be cooking tea...
A has her first cold and is very unimpressed with being blocked up with snot. I think I will start her on solids after she is better. She has had a couple of crackers to suck on but I don't think she is swallowing any so I am not in any rush.
She can sit for as long as she wants now (as long as DS doesn't topple her over) but she isn't rolling yet. She used to from 3.5 weeks until about 4 months but then she stopped. I guess it is because I don't ever leave her lying down - if she is awake then I am either holding her or she sits on the couch. With a super clumsy dog and DS around I just never feel safe leaving them on the floor. DS never really rolled either and he worked out alright.
Stupid AF arrived today. I was hoping for longer but I suspected she was on her way back. I guess we really should do something about birth control now...
Easha - I'd recommend a high chair that's easy to clean with no crevices for food to get stuck in. Art's sounds cool with the removable tray. Ours is a steelcraft one that goes up/down. Don't have a messy mat as we have tiles so its pretty easy to clean up.
Kelly - sounds like T is loving his food. And WOW on a first word already, clever boy! Warning though. Elena talked really early too and hasn't stopped since lol! Yes it is so much easier now that Ethan sits up. He loves to sit up and play with a few toys. He's also mastered throwing his toys and then screeching at the top of his lungs cos he can't reach them. You give them back to him and the cycle starts again lol!
Art - thanks I've always loved the name Elena and DH didn't really get a say ha ha! Just kidding, luckily he loved it too. Bugger about AF hey? Mine came back two months ago even though still bfing, feeling kind of ripped off still lol! I hope A feels better soon. Ethan doesn't roll either. He can go from tummy to back but not the other way.
Does anyone's bub have a flat spot on the back of their head? Ethan has developed quite a flat spot on the top of his head. Going to ask the MCHN about it when I see her in a couple of weeks. Hope it sorts itself, I suspect its from sleeping on his back.
We started solids too. I'm kind of doing BLS. He gets sticks of steamed veg and also a little veg mashed roughly with a fork. He is loving it! Gave him a rye cruskit today and he polished it off it no time.
I will be MIA for the next 10 days or so. Going away and can't wait. Have to pack tonight and I'm cringing at the thought of all the stuff I have to take for the two of them. Hope I can fit some of my things into the car lol!
Take care all, catch up when I'm back xoxo
Sangie - was just quickly going to say I love the name Elena too - it was on our girls list. DH was wanting to spell it Elaina. Pretty! Enjoy your break :)
Hello
Sangie - Zander used to have a flat spot when he was a bub from having his head turned to one side while on his back asleep. So I just used to stick something under his side to help tilt it the other way IYKWIM? Or I would go in and check on him and turn his head myself.
Indigo still hasnt popped a tooth and isnt sleeping more than 5 hours at night but I have had a few more hours sleep by timing it right and it only takes me one night of a few consecutive hours to feel a little better than the day before. She isnt sitting on her own yet but is rolling and moving around the floor..she is starting to get a bit cranky when in her Bumbo.
I got my period yay..and I only seem to have a libido around ovulation which obviously isnt a good thing. (I feel like a dog on heat lol)
Im getting a bit down about my weight as I need to lose more but cant seem to stop eating crap or drinking red wine..looking forward to winter when I can wear baggier clothes
Hi Girls!
We've been so busy with the move and renovating that I haven't had a chance to post so will attempt to catch up now!
Nicola - boohoo for AF arriving. Mine hasn't returned yet thankfully. I'm hearing you on the red wine too. I've been loving my wines and find it hard to have a night off - how bad is that?! I only have one or two but jeez I feel like I've earned them by the time Izzy is in bed for the night!
Sangie - Elena is a gorgeous name!!! I had always wondered what her name was and it's so pretty :) Yay for Ethan sitting up too! Izzy has been sitting a bit lately but she can only master a couple of minutes max on her own. She absolutely loves practicing though but she gets so excited and proud of herself that she loses her balance and topples over! LOL! One of the bubs in my MG has a flat spot. She got hers, strangely enough, from sleeping in a hammock. She's been seeing a chiro and cranial (spelling??) specialist for it but they all think it will pop back out on its own. Both my nephews had terrible flat spots and they are both fine now.
Art - PMSL at the 'understanding' you have with your dog. I plan on making a deal with our pooch once Izzy is at the stage of throwing food on the floor too. Boohoo for you too with the arrival of AF. That sucks.
Kelly - Tadhg sounds like he's doing great with the BLS! Izzy is loving her solids. It is lots of fun but so messy! I can't believe Tadhg has said mama already!!!! It must sound amazing (and no doubt brings a tear to your eye!) when you hear him calling out from his cot. I can't wait to hear Izzy say some words. She babbles A LOT but no words as yet.
Easha - solids are messy but lots of fun. I'd recommend the Ikea high chair and a cheap, washable table cloth for a messy mat. Jaida sounds like Izzy - a right chatterbox! I'm going to struggle to get a word in once she starts talking full sentences. I think it's actually payback though as I've always been a motor mouth!
Sanchez - how are you hon?! You've been MIA her and FB for a while now. I hope all is ok!
NW3 - how are you and Sam going hon?
AFU - we moved out of our place last weekend and it was full on. As Izzy is difficult to get down for a sleep during the day, I couldn't help much. It was really frustrating for me, I felt useless. I'm so grateful for my parents help and I know they totally understood but I really did feel so useless. They did a great job with DH though and most of the move (into our good mates shed next door) was done by 4pm on Saturday.
We're staying in DH's boss' apartment in West Perth while we do a few renos at our new place. The apartment is in a great location and it's really nice but I'm keen to get into our own place ASAP. Living in an apartment with a baby is a PITA and we only have the bare necessities (ie clothing, Izzy's toys, etc) with us so it's kind of like staying in a holiday house. It's fun but I'm missing a lot of my necessities - and our bed! We only have a double bed here and it's so small!!
Both houses settled yesterday, on time surprisingly. We started the renos at the new place today. We're tidying them up (the two duplexes) just enough to make them comfortable (so painting, new carpet and a general clean up) for us to live in for the next 18 months or so then we'll knock them down and build. We managed to get a lot of painting done today and dad knocked our the old doorway joining the two duplexes so they're now one house. It's weird going from a brand new, modern home to two old, crappy duplexes but I know it will be worth it in the end.
Izzy has been sleeping really well during the day lately but only because we've been out and about. She still won't have a decent nap if we're at home or if the pram is stationary :wall: It made today really difficult as I didn't have much time to offer a hand. It's so frustrating!! Oh well, I guess that's the price I pay for a brillant night sleeper.
Solids are going brilliantly though. So far we've tried pureed pumpkin, carrot, sweet potatoe and a packet of Raffertys pumpkin, sweet corn and apple (which she LOVED). I've been mixing rice cereal in with her purees and she's wolfing it down each lunch time. She's actually doing so well I'm considering giving her another meal each day already. I might try breakfast next. The only thing that worries me with solids is the change in her poos. She's doing the more solid type poos but today she only did two tiny firm poos. I gave her some Brauers Colic Relief tonight so hopefully it will help to get things moving a bit more. She doesn't seem too bothered yet but I don't want to see her constipated.
Izzy has taken to Heinz rusks too and is really mobile with all the rolling she's doing. We can't leave her anywhere for too long these days! She's trying so hard to get up on all fours that I don't think it'll be long before we see her crawling. She is such a deteremined little girl!
No teeth for us but I'm not complaining. The longer she is just gummy the better I say ;)
Bed time for me. I'm shattered. Night girls!
Hi All,
Art - hope bub is all recovered from the cold.. Jaida had the sneezes and runny nose but it only last for one day.
Sangie - hope you have an awesome time on holidays
Nicola - AF... aaarrrggghh, luckily it hasn't returned for me yet :dance:. I know what you mean with the weight. If I go out I spend money on yummy food and if I stay home I eat as well.
Love the comments about the deserved glass of wine.... I have been having a glass every night too - but went without for 3 nights last week. Will TRY to reserve drinking to Fri/Sat/Sun
Taurean - glad the move is over.... I HATE moving. Yay for solids, sounds like bub is loving food. Wont be far behind you - 3 weeks to go if I can restrain myself that is.
Thanks everyone for the advice on the highchair - we bought the ikea one. I thought the whole thing would be $39 but the tray was extra..... they dont tell you that in the ads..... oh well cant complain with a $49 high chair. I also found a 1.8m x1.8 m shower curtain which I will cut in 2 for a splash mat - only $3.. bargain.
Jaida is also sitting quite well for short periods. I just put a pillow behind her and then sit in front of her... she loves it although she does tire easily. She hates laying down now.. you can see her trying to sit up again. Anyway... she will be awake for a feed soon so better go
See ya
I love my red wine and have 2 or so glasses most nights....although I do try to have 2-3 alcohol free days a week. But it is a reward for getting through the day and if it helps then I dont really think its that bad...although my liver probably disagrees.
I'm still here.....just dog tired thats all!
How is everyone, I have been reading everyones posts - sounds as if everything is going fairly smoothly for all!
Violets sleeping pattern hit an all time bad waking every hour or so overnight - which meant i was getting no sleep and she was not too happy about it either.
Things are a little better - waking 2-4 times a night, comfort feeding then back to sleep. She slept through on Saturday night which meant at least i got to catch up on sleep.
I have started solids and they are sort of hit and miss. Sometimes she wants it - other times she doesn't. I am just doing veges and fruit though - nothing too outside the box yet. The poos are rotten though - very smelly i am finding, and when she does go it isn't one big poo it is small little poos all day - so i am changing nappies constantly. (Taurean V didn't poo for 5 days and still had a soft tummy and i am feeding her solids 3 times a day - Izzy will poo when shes good and ready!)
I had my first moment of realising i sounded like my mother when i heard myself say "look young lady you are going to eat this because i have been slaving in the kitchen to make it for you"!!!! Oh dear!
Violet still does not look interested in finding out how to roll from her tummy to her back. She is sitting up though which is great. Still not really a chatter. No teeth. But the hair does continue to grow!
I am going to look into high chairs because things are getting a little bit dangerous in the Bumbo, she now archs her back and i m scared she will topple it over and straight off the kitchen table. I'm not sure what qualities you look for in a high chair. Something to research about - same with baby led weaning - i am clueless about that as well.
Nicola - PMSL about horny during ovulation - not the most ideal time hey?! I am with you on the whole down about baby weight. I still can't get into my pre preg clothes and it is driving me mad. I tell you what that is the last pregnancy i ever try to increase my baby's weight by eating. I thought putting on 18kgs was all a bit of a laugh until i realised the kilos were staying. My DH has firm orders to make sure i don't step foot in a Nandos shop next pregnancy. (Betcha I am begging him for it though!)
And shes up again...i'll do persies next time.
Nope Taurean - I completely lied - my girl was constipated after all.
So awful she was doing the huge strains/pushes until she was red in the face and then she would have a huge vomit because of it - vomit was coming out her nose :(
It was late at night so i did the brown sugar and water - calmed her down but didn't make her poo. Then yesterday I gave her Coloxyl drops and whamoo she is back on track.
I had started to give her 100mls of formula a day - S26 newborn and i think that caused the complete bind up. Apparently s26 has a much higher iron content so constipation is quite common.
And yep we are back to waking 7 times a night.
I need a holiday ;)
Quick one as typing on my phone
Sanchez - Izzy was blocked up too. It was horrible! She did 5 small poos on Monday and strained terribly with all of them. I phone Health Direct over here and they suggested a few things to try but finally a soft, big poo arrived late Monday afternoon. We were all relieved and Izzy was SO happy, LOL! Apparently rice cereal can do it and I've been mixing it into her vegies so I think that was the culprit. I'll find other ways to get her iron into her.
As for formula, S26 can be tough on some babies. Izzy had it when she was really young but I decided to try both Karicare and Nan and both are heaps better. They are a lot more like breast milk and Izzy poos are normal on both of them. The S26 made her poos green and she did block up a bit on it. I won't use S26 again. Karicare and Nan agree with Izzy much more. The Karicare is very throthy though so if you do try it, don't be alarmed when you shake the bottle.
Izzy woke up at 5.30 as she got her arm stuck in the cot rails. It's a shock to the system! I won't complain though, it sounds like a walk in the park compared to your nights Sanchez. Sending lots of sleepy vibes to Violet !
Hi ladies
Hope all is good long time no speak. Sorry been just a bit busy over the last few weeks so haven't had a chance to drop in.
Well our solids adventure seems to be going quite well with Sambo demolishing everything that I give him. At the moment I am still only giving him one meal per day but think I might introduce 2nd on next week. So far he has had rice cereal, pumpkin, sweet potato, pear and banana. He finishes everything that I offer him so I have to be careful not to overdo it. I decided to give him his "meal" in the evening rather than the morning as that way if its messy he has his bath straight after and can be cleaned up. It also worked as I knew I would definitely be home in the evenings. I am thinking I will make his 2nd meal after his first BF of the day. Luckily he seems to be like his mother and likes his lie ins in the morning so he doesn't normally wake until between 7 to 7.30am. I don't know what I will do if he changes and starts to wake at something with a 5 or 6 in it! Have a quick question however now that I am trying different foods do I still need to give him the rice cereal for iron? I hadn't been adding it to his vegies or fruit.
Poos seem to be going okay but boy oh boy are they smelly. He definitely isn't going as much as he did before but guess that is to be expected as the food has to be digested.
It looks like he might finally be building up to rolling properly - hasn't shown much interest to date only doing it every now and then but now when I put him on his play mat he is starting to move round a lot more and trying to tuck his little legs under him to push himself up his mat. He moved himself round his cot the other day for the very first time - moved up to the top corner right beside where his monitor is so he could shout into it to get me to come in quicker.
Taurean have you started the 2nd meal yet with Izzie? She sounds like she is going great on solids. Hope the move has gone okay and that you are coping okay with staying in the apartment for a few weeks. You get so used to having your own stuff around you.
Art not good about bub having cold - it must be so difficult for babies when their little noses get all blocked up as they just don't know how to breath any other way. Touch wood Sam hasn't picked up anything so far though I am sure it will just be a matter of time. We go overseas in 3 weeks time so I am sure he will probably pick up a cold on the plane so we'll have that to cope with as well as jet lag.
Sanchez with you in relation to doing research into high chairs. At the mo I am still feeding Sam in his Bumbo though I have him on the floor and sit down on the floor in front of him. Only downside to this is the dog who has figured out that Sam is getting food so he now sits as close as possible to Sam in the hope that I will accidently feed it to him instead of Sam. Hope Vs sleeping gets better 7 times a night just doesn't bear thinking about.
Easha good news about Jaida's sitting. Have you decided when you are going to start her on solids? As Taurean said it is great fun and doesn't take anywhere near as long to feed him as i thought it would.
Kelly that is brilliant news about Tadhg saying his first word. Sam is a real chatterbox - which everyone says reminds them of me - don't know where they get that from. He is nowhere near actually saying a word but has loads and loads of different sounds now.
Nicola am sure your liver won't have an issue with a few glasses of wine. Mine is probably wondering what the hell is happening given how much I used to drink before I got pregnant especially when I compare it to now. I have changed into a cheap date now as can only manage a glass or two before I feel it going to my head. Only downside to waking and feeding Sam at 10.30pm each night is I have to be careful if I have a drink before I feed him. It seems to be working regarding his sleeping through so am reluctant to change it.
Sangi hope you had a fab time on holiday.
AFU well busy busy busy at the moment, we are still carpetless and insurance company is being completely pants as they are indundated with lots of claims at the moment. I really want to have it resolved before we go away but who knows. Taking Sam to GymbaRoo and Bounce & Rhyme which he loves. Also trying to organise childcare for him for later in the year. Am sure this will be a complete nightmare when it gets closer to the date trying to get him in - I've already been told that trying to get a spot towards the end of the year is next to impossible as no one moves kids then. Still I live in hope that I'll win lotto in the meantime and won't have to go back to work.
Kisses to all your beautiful babies and speak soon.
