Dont know what to do about a scab on M's face. It started as a pimple, which she then scratched so it went scabby. It was just about healed & she scratched it again yesterday & she just keeps picking at it & making it bleed! Dont know how to keep her hands away from it, any ideas??
Rainy, too early to call. I guess the bit I haven't said is if you get the other boob replaced there's no guarantee you will ever have sensation in the nipple, even if they do preserve it. On the other hand you don't have to worry so much about a recurrance. I think a lot of women go for option B - get other boob tidied so you get a perkier pair that match, so you're getting the best of both, kwim? All jokes about dolly parton aside, the most important thing is that I get the option that gives me the greatest sense of wellbeing and wholeness. If this hadn't happened to me, I would never in a million years ever consider getting boob work done (tummy yes maybe but never boobs). In fact I'd be quite happy to live out my days with my wonky post-partial boob like it is without getting it tidied.
Clare, part of the decision for me is actually making the best possible decision now in order to avoid later surgeries as much as possible. I'd like to think this surgery will be the last of it, kwim?
ETA I should mention at this point I probably won't opt for the method that gives you a free tummy-tuck because the exact bit of skin they use is the part of my tummy that's full of stretchies!! Hmmm nice stripey stretchy-mark boob...NOT!!!!!

Gypsy, try cutting her fingernails right down and if that doesn't work, you could stick a tiny bit of hypafix over the top of it.

Rainy - wooo hooo on the joint sleep time, that must be rare and blissful. boo hoo on them timing it with latte time. i think babies have a sensor for mummy fun - N used to sleep through tv, vacuum, cooking etc - but TOUCH the kettle and he was wide awake...
eta too many posts at the same time... gypsy N kept picking at a scab on his arm (left over from the HOOF!!) - i stuck a little wiggles band aid over it for a few days and it healed - they heal so quickly at this age... is that an option (not sure on the face)
clare been meaning tp say i also throw up pre conception and also preg vitamins (i can tell ia m goingto throw up within 10 mins of taking) unless i take them ona pretty full tummy...
MD - lol that your DH's face lit up, so did mine. nah, seriously u need to feel good about it and u will b recovering anyway. its a huge decision and if its free.. well then. nah, that is too hard to choose isn't it.
Rainy - $450! what does a doula do exactly. is it like your own personal dr available at anytime? don't feel bad about not mtg up, do what u feel like, there will always b next time.

Rainy, surgeon will do pretty much whatever I ask for - within limits. Because I'm having the mastectomy at the same time they have funding to do whatever will give the best possible result. Next appt I will insist on seeing him (saw his lovely offsider today and he popped in just long enough to cop a feel and then draw all over my boob with his biro PMSL) and apparently he has all these photos of his work, which might help with the decision. Main thing I want is to keep my nipple. I guess any result nicer than that is a bonus, kwim?
MD - i have watched loads of those LA surgery shows lol. but they always keep the nipple now and just draw like a keyhole and move it up KWIM. It will b crap recovering, but if u did it, u would feel so much better about the whole thing and boost your self-confidence. we can all do with a bit more of that hey! ;)
MD: totally get wanting to go in and get it over and done with. avoiding hospys is always a good idea in my book. i reckon the little nip and tuck for perky perks would be considered more over other options if it were me.
geez, how hard is it to get the biro off??? i always wondered when i would see those makeover shows...
PP: that's what i think too. one part of me would want to stay to get a bit more rest and some bonding and b/f but then the other part of me really dsilikes too much hospital environs and middies and the like coming in and out all the time. i cant remember whether the JJMH had an early discharge program?? maybe check it out if they do?
Rainy: wow! your MG hasnt wasted time! we have got one about to pop, and one that is 6 weeks and one TTC. other than that, no one is trying yet (we are a group of 12). BUT they do have younger bubs (by about 2-4 months...). it's actually cool seeing the two go through their pregnancies as, of course, we werent part of that journey pre-bub.
AFM: man, i am TIRED. i know i know, have been a broken record, but seriously, i am about to pass out! luckily there is a comfy couch in the office calling my name...

clare-yeah i think i paved the way for everyone else iykwim? i told them all i was pg at about 5 weeks so they knew pretty early and then another 2 followed not long after. they've both had opposite sex babies itms? like the one that had a boy has had a girl and vice versa....not like me and ange pmsl!

MD, yay on the free upgrade! I guess in your situation I would be all about the nipple too. I could handle uneven and wonky, but I would be sad to lose the nipple if there is a chance of preservation. BTW feel free to talk about it in this thread, we all want to know what is happening.

Md :hug: such a huge decision to make hun! Personally, if it were me I would go for the double-banger and get it over and done with. Big jump to make if there wasn't an issue to begin with, but now that you are *here* and having to make it, I think you need to look at it holistically and if this is what is going to give you the reassurance that it is taken care of then that's the path you need to take. Also the longer it goes on, the longer it will take for you to close this chapter in your life when you really want to be moving forward kwim?

Rainy, hope you and the boys had fun at Anges. Did the mirror thing in the car help with J's crying? I remember that, it was horrible. We didn't travel very far for ages because W was a car screamer. He got a lot better when we took the head support pillow out, he didn't seem to like his head held in place. Then when he moved to front facing he got heaps better. Hope J grows out of it soon.
Trill, yay for child free shopping day! I am having a big curtain shop next weekend which I am obscenely happy about. I won't be child free, but we have had no curtains in the lounge or bedroom for the past 6 weeks and I am bursting to get some. I got a quote and they wanted $1600 for three sets of curtains - I can get all the stuff at Spotlight and make them with minimal effort (just a few hems) for about $500!

I always have the car radio set to ABC FM so if I'm desperate I can turn it on (LOUD haha) and sometimes that calms the savage beast (ie me even if bubs is still screaming LOL). V.jealous by the way of both you and Ange, would love ot crash a few of your get togethers!

Got some awesome op shop bargains today. Got a humpty dumpty soft toy for M which she has been carrying around since we got home, a cute tea set - you put the cups and saucers & teaspoon on the actual tea holder thingamy (Trill was it you mentioning A making cups of tea all day long?) & a pink stool that she loves sitting on. I have turned into such an op shopper these days.

we finally have managed to get leila a bit more 'normal' last night and today. i think it is the kiwi (arte: good to know that there could be a kiwi fruit connection!). so am feeling a *bit* more rested. although not rested enough for the crap dinner party i have to put on tonight. i cant stand it when DH invites ppl without letting me know (these were the ppl that cancelled 1/2 hour before LAST week...yes, i had cooked all the meals!).

Rainy - keep your eye out for a tea set, I saw in toys r us that FP does a cute one but its $50 odd. I can see its going to provide endless entertainment, she didnt want to go down for her arvo nap because she was making tea for me & I had to have a sip before she was happy to go down.
we've gone through endless teasets here over the years as they always end up having a piece missing or broken. I would try to avoid spending too many $$ on one.
Having been there, done that before, I can say with certainty that it wont be as bad as you think Arte ROFL. Erin's birth was just awesome and I would do it over and over again if I could. Yes, you do have your "OMG you stupid woman! what were you thinking?!" when you are in the middle of your first really ouchy contraction, but it passes and you just get on with it.

Rainy- There was a tea set in the pink suitcase ontop of the toybox! I didn't even think, L could have made us cups of tea! It's a tin one and very cool. At the local library they have a ceramic one, and they put water in it for the kids to play with. Very brave of them i say! Ceramic might be a bit too tempting to throw and break though. :lol: Glad the trip home was ok. Thanks for coming to visit. :D

Lu is going well, she is talking more and more. She bought a blue crayon to me the other day saying 'blue". It really is amazing the things they pick up. I am really enjoying this latest developmental stage. She cracks me up. She sometimes plays a bit rough with other kids, a lot of crash tackling.:o but her and Lewis play really well together which is nice. Although she does steal his toys. ;)
Hubby has two weeks off starting the 28th of this month. We want to go away, any ideas. I was thinking of escaping the cold but somewhere within oz...... any suggestions?

Wow one of the girls from my mums group has had her twin baby girls, Madalyn & Ella. I am going to visit her in hospital on Sunday with another from mums group. Also another MG girl is due any day now, well she was officially due two days ago so we are all waiting for some action. Cant wait to meet all these new beautiful babies.
Has anyone else started a bit of toilet training? We are still in nappies but I've been introducting M to the toilet lots (haha that sounds a bit dodgy). She sits on it, nothing happens though, but she wipes, jumps off & flushes. I just thought she might be starting to be ready, she pulls her nappy off all the time & tells me when she has done a #2. I am not going to bother with a potty, I bought a toilet seat & stool & will just start straight at that. So how do you actually first start, do you just go cold turkey with no nappy on? Any tips?
I am so sorry I have been such a terrible baby buddy of late. I have had family here all week and feel like I could sleep for 100 years.

popping on quickly while Ashas destroying the place with her oats!! shes been having them the last few mornings she really loves them but the mess is a bit much!!
yesterday i became an aunty :) so exciting.. they did end up having a little girl so somewhere for all Ashas baby clothes.. though i must admit when i got them out last night i found it very hard to think about giving them away haha just all the memories of her being so tiny!! She was born at 38wks via c section. shes currently in the nicu for low oxygen levels but they think itll only be a few days before shes out.. so ofc ive only seen a pic havnt got to meet her yet coz its only parents and grandparents allowed but im still very excited hehe..
dh is still being awful lol.. he just dosnt understand anything! he basically had a tanty when i asked him to get up with Asha this morning.. im so tired, been having pains all night.. think theyre just BH theyre like period pains and they wake me up but i can get back to sleep with them so dont assume its anything too bad.. i sometimes get them during the day too bubs still moving well so cant do much about it really.. he got up and i could hear him stomping around and not speaking very nicely to Asha so i got up and told him to go back to bed and he still sulked about it.. im so over it he was giving me filthy looks as he stormed around picking things up.. god forbid im tired too ughhhh i am so stressed right now and he just couldnt care about anyone but himself..
anyway!! lots been happening in here!!
md - goodluck with ur decision.. cant be an easy one! im not sure what i would do in the situation.. im quite scared of surgical procedures so maybe in that way id go for the least surgery possible but then again if ur already under id quite fancy a bit of a tidy up hehe.. gosh sorry that dosnt really help at all does it!!
gypsy- sounds like Ash is aroundthe same stage.. she tells me when she needs her nappy changed and she follows me into the toilet all the time very interested.. i have had a few times with her just running round with no pants on to get the feel of it or in undies.. i think she is very ready for tt but im worried with it being so cold i might wait a little longer so she can just run around in undies iykwim?
trill - good to hear u enjoyed ur birth so much.. im currently having a little freak out over this birth in 7 weeks time!!
falguni -not sure about holiday destinations.. havnt really been anywhere except victoria and nsw in aus and dont think ud be escaping the cold in either of those places atm!! how clever her knowing the crayon was blue! its such an amazing stage atm!!
re tea sets - asha has one that cost me about 12 bucks in kmart and it came in a giant tea pot container that she can still put it all in.. its great it has cups saucers plates knives forks spoons and even a plastic cake haha!!
Noni - I know what you mean about the cold & toilet training! Men are so annoying at times, my DH does the same to me now & then. & if he does eventually get up because I am so exhausted he stomps around & sounds all grumpy. I bet yours uses the 'I work' excuse as well? I think they forget that although we are home during the day, we are always on the go as well, esp being pregnant, you must be so tired. I hope he decides to start helping out more once the new bub arrives?
Ange - Bali sounds nice, you guys need a break & to get away after the past few months. You would be under the pump with passports though, do you & your DH have them & its just the kids who dont?
Well I have been up since 5am this morning, well it started at 4am, but we eventually got her up at 5! Just didnt want to sleep. So got up, half asleep & put on the tv & on come the black eyed peas singing their catchy songs, so she had a groove at 5am. Haha too early miss Maddie.
As for toilet training, I knew she needed to do a poo this morning, so I took her to the toilet, she climbed up & sat on there....and sat on there....and sat on there! So after a few minutes she got bored, wiped herself anyway & jumped off. Was about to put her nappy back on & then she does a wee in the hallway lol. 5 mins later out comes #2 in her nappy. Had to laugh, we will get there.

Well just wanted to pop on and tell you all about the birthday party we went to today (FDC lady's 2 daughters, one turned 5 and one turned 2). What they did was hire out the local YMCA hall (with all their play equipment included) and just turned the kids loose to play with everything. The mothers/MILs and sisters all brought the food, FDC lady made the cakes and a neighbour sent along a clown/magician friend (who did magic tricks and balloon animals) ...they had masses of guests and it was pouring with rain but it didn't matter one jot. TOO EASY!

Gypsy- Yep we are toilet training. I find it all too hard. I do put livi in undies and let her run around every now and then especially when she plays outside. She always pee's her pants and starts screaming as she hates it. I do have a potty. When we are on the toilet she loves to take her nappy off and sit on the potty. she has pee'd once on the potty.

Gypsy how was it seeing your friends little twins?? L goes on the potty before a shower and if I get signs he wants to wee or poo during the day (I am usually to late lol). He loves his undies though and often wears them over a nappy. We arent in a hurry though and figure summer will be a good time to TT.
AFM not much happening here, L is great and starting to talk more. He really is such a joy, he is so affectionate and I am often getting cuddles and kisses without asking and he says luff ya. Looks like it might be a rainy week here and I have loads of washing to catch up on.

Ange: nth qld is nice. mum lives in townsville and magnetic island is just of its coast. very nice. popular holiday spot in the 50s and 60s and still has the feel. otherwise stuff it all, get the kidlets some passports (you can fast-track them) and head to Fiji. cheap awesome holidays. we try to go at least once a year. off that way in January.

Gypsy: leila is pretty similar with the TT. we have a potty but she hates it, so we sit on the toilet and do the wipes and the like. of course, she does nada, zip, nothing until out in the kitchen and does a wee or poo as i am searching for a nappy :rolleyes:
Noni: we had a similar *moment* this morning with DH. he was a grumpy bum big time. ah well, i pay him no heed. of course when is short with leila then i step in, but then, i expect him to do the same when i am short with her IYKWIM.

AFM: we are back on the happy boat. Leila has purged all remnants of kiwi fruit from the system and is back in action as the happy baby. her early wake-ups are still a shock to the system, but we have managed to at least keep it til 6.30am at the earliest. and yeah, there was some ignoring going on. she wouldnt cry, but would yell out: 'SHOES!', 'WALK!' over and over again. after 5/10 minutes we would drag our sorry bums out (or rather, DH would LOL!).
no luck on the house :wall:. our bid was outbidded. but that's okay. also lost out on the auction too. back to the drawing board.

AFM: I feel like a terrible mum. I opened the car door too quickly + T fell out onto the gravel face first, got a whopping big bruise and wound on her forehead + nose. Poor thing. I didn't even see she was behind the door coz of tinted windows + I was concentrating n something else. I hope it heals ok.
HI everyone. Re the party - Katie, only Missy E went - she had a blast but she took control of the giant pink slippery dip and started screaming NO MINE every time another child came near PMSL. DD1 was a tad jealous until we reminded her she's had 11 years of birthday parties none of which DD2 was ever invited to LOL. Supa she did 2 cakes - constructed out of biscuits and cream somehow (??) and the 5yo had a bratz picture & the 2 yo had a Dora picture. I think she just cut them out of cardboard and stuck them on - nothing fancy but it looked GREAT.
Supa - have you seen the thread about the BB meet up dinner in Adelaide on July 3rd...I'm planning to go (health allowing). Don't feel bad about the car door incident, sometimes accidents happen. xx

Clare man I"m getting so bummed for you, hearing about *yet another* house. If you moved to Adelaide you could find a mansion for that price!! Glad you made a connection between the kiwi and the crazy-making L! MIght be worth checking out if any other fruit sets her off too. Sometimes it's the thing you least suspect.

Toilet training - oh soooooo not going there until at least October. I think E is probably aware enough at this point but I think it works much better when you can send them out ot play in the garden with nothing on their bottom half at all. Bit fresh for that here.
Am definitely decided on an ITNG party for Missy E this year, we had the DVD on yesterday to show my sister (who never heard of it) and Miss E was just beeeeeeside herself with joy. I've got a cake planned in my head too. :D
