Hmmm Ange, it's a dilemma alright! You're right about it being such a different experience over there and that it is something you will talk about for years, not to mention how great it would be for the girls to grow up in another culture for a few years. I think that because you would be earning a living etc that health services would be quite good and you would be able to pay for better care kwim? The counting thing is a normal stage for them to miss a number or two when they say it. Alister counts when watching sesame street, mainly because he's just a parrot LOL and copies, but he gets so far then it's 'nine nine nine' ROFL. And nighty night - don't let the bed bugs bite!

And yep Oz, great having his birthday present sorted, but I did take advantage of sales and I needed to get it out of the road cause of the wedding coming around super fast now and all that.

    Hi girls!

wowsers! a whole week of posts to catch up on...

PP: glad to hear that N is on the mend and how amazing that he can count so much?!!!

Rainy: oohhh i wish we had the room for a cool trampoline. Leila loves them!

MD: but you must go and see public enemies. even if it is a good ol' shoot em up film and not really happy, it DOES have johnny depp in it. and that makes anyone's day. i am so not up for tear jerkers either ATM. My sisters keeper sounds a bit too intense for me!

Ange: ooh lots of exciting things! i would be a bit more cautious with PNG than other places in the pacific. we used to run programs/conferences there and it was always a bit hairy in terms of safety. and the malaria is a bit tricky. BUT, if given the chance, i would go! ha ha! so hows that for mixed messages LOL! i guess just check it out, go for a short trip and see where you would live etc and try to imagine yourself there. and you're right, Aus is not too far and you can always jump ship.

MM: i'm with the others on this one. i reckon your DH is just going through his own kind of process with dealing with the loss and is *maybe* having moments of guilt regarding what you went through. he may need some guidance ( ) from you to show him that all is AOK ITMS...
not sure about the prams babe. i always see the quinny zapp at airports though....

Noni: hope you are well and labour vibes are in action LOL!

AFM: well i am back. it was horrendous, but we got through it. Oma is very weak and very depressed. i think it is the sadness that is really doing her in. it's so hard looking at the woman that raised you lying in her bed so ill and so weak. and also very very weird.

Leila has been a bit of a horror since i got back last night. she is a bit OTT with the emotions. i think an overload LOL! but cute as always so cant complain!

OMG Clare I wrote a long commisserative post last night (only for it to vorpal off into cyberspace) but now I'm going to have to do a happy dance for you instead!! !!!!

Oh and Noni I'm so excited for you too sweet, hang in there, try to rest as much as possible until you get some definite signs

ETA - well I'm back & in my excitement i have completely forgotten everything I typed yesterday - so you'll just have to bear with me today girls. Not functioning the best - had a total steroid-induced breakdown yesterday. Complete impairment of mental functioning. Stood in the shops cos i literally couldn't pull myself together enough to decide what to buy. Baaaaaaad. Luckily the Big Doggie came to visit (yaknow, the one DH very generously offered to puppysit for 2 weeks) and it was apparent from the toddler screams at the outset that the arrangement was not going to work. PHEW. So that's that problem sorted just by ignoring it for long enough LOL.

Ange wanted to say - you are enough of an adventurous spirit to pull off a stint in PNG - just make sure you talk to ppl who are living in the compound about what it's really like before you decide. Suggest you grab a copy of the current Lonely Planet & suss out the place too - huuuuuuuge difference between Moresby vs the other towns, and other towns vs futher-out areas.

Trill well done on getting Mr A's bday sorted...we can't decide if Missy E should have her trike now or Christmas, or her wooden kitchen etc now or Christmas. Dh is keen for her trike (spiffy radio flyer) but DD1 will be getting new wheels at xmas so I'm leaning towards the kitchen. We also have wooden blocks & wooden trainset (mostly op-shopped but still new) plus a duplo zoo on layby, just gotta decide what's for birthday and what's for Christmas. prezzie overload!! LOL

Ok, better go pull out more soursobs while my roid rage lasts. I'll be having crack-cocaine withdrawal symptoms by this time tomorrow so trying to get as much done today as poss cos tmrw will be a write-off.

Noni- Don't be terrified, it's exciting. it can't be too long before you meet your gorgeous little boy! You'll be amazing.

Clare!!!! CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!! FINALLY! I am so excited for you, that is wonderful news.

MD- That sure is a roller coaster you are riding. The highs and lows must be really draining. The job in PNG is on New Britian, so it's a totally different island to where Port Moresby and Lae are. It is described as a sleepy little seaside town. So that has to be good! They have excellent diving and fishing there apparently. We wont count our chickens but Glenn has to fly to Brissy for an interview sometime this month.

*toddles off to babies got style* Thanks Rainy.

CLARE!!!! Congrats!!! Awesome news. Tell us all about it????

Noni - Will be thinking of you, sounds like the time is fast approaching now. Dont be terrified you will be fine, before you know it, it will all be over & you will have a beautiful baby boy in your arms. I am so excited for you!

I had a look at baby's got style last night actually & ended up getting the marilyn dress in pink candy (her bday dress) and I also got a ruched summer dress in strawberry shortcake. Also Ange the little green dress is cute & not too girly. Needless to say over the past couple of wks I've spent more than enough on little missy so NO MORE till Bali.

Anyway I cant wait for the dresses to arrive, I'm sure the ruched type dresses are very simple to make, just from looking at the pic anyway. If it looks easy enough might give it a go making her some dresses this summer. I'm also doing a textiles unit at uni soon so that should help me!

Also MD I hope it passes soon!!! How many more treatments to go or is it more a touch & go thing atm? I feel for you big time. xox Also go the op shop bargains, I scored a very hot one piece 'Jets' swim suit at one the other day.

What a cr@p day. I went out to check on the goat this morning and it was dead - some dogs had mauled it. Poor goat, he was really friendly and didn't deserve that. God I hate that people don't control their dogs. Luckily I ran out to check without William, but what do I tell him??? He loved going out to check the goat and feed him bread. Poor kid, he is so sweet and innocent. I guess we could tell him that the goat has gone to Uncle Ollie's farm to eat grass... Is it right to lie? He is far too little to tell the truth but he will notice that the goat is gone.

Then we came down to mums, we were here for about half an hour and one of the dogs had snapped at W twice. The first time everyone went quiet and sort of ignored it, the second time I grabbed her and said she would have to go away when W was here because she was getting dangerous and asked if there was somewhere I could put her, mum just said "not really" and that was all that was done. There are cages outside in the shed and in the bedroom, apparently it is more important the dog is comfortable than William being safe. So this will be the last time we can stay here, it just isn't safe having W around all these dogs, especially now they are actively snapping at him.

I am sooo bummed about it. We moved back because we wanted W to grow up around family, it was financial suicide and DH left a job he really liked with great opportunities and took an average go nowhere job so we could move back, and now we basically can't come down to visit anyway because there is nowhere for us to stay and we can't afford to stay at motels all the time. It is too far for day trips (2.5 hours each way). So it was fine for mum to guilt me that I was "stealing her grandsons babyhood from her" when we were deciding to move back, but it seems that we have to make all the effort. We have been back for 17 months and she has only visited once for 5 minutes when she was passing though for something else. She is going to completely miss out on the new baby because I can't bring them here and I doubt she will bother to come up and see us.

Sorry for the big selfish post, I keep crying. Poor poor goat. It was mostly neck wounds, so I hope at least it was quick. The neighbour saw two dogs running off.

Clare, sorry you had such a bad week. I hope that your Oma's health improves. Well done on finally getting a house! What is it like?

MD, hope you are feeling better

Noni, YAY, he will be here soon!

Noni is OFF TO HOSPITAL!!!!!! This is super exciting. I'm gonna be like a cat on a hot tin roof waiting for news!

Arte, I think Will is a smart enough little fella to understand if you told him the truth, but it will open a huge can of worms and you will get more questions kwim? I don't think there is any harm in a wee white lie to keep him from getting sad about it though. I really hate that about dogs too - luckily it's not been an issue around here, but it has in other areas. That's really sad about your Mum and the dogs. Don't you dare accept any responsibility for what she is supposedly going to miss out on because she made that choice herself the moment she put her dogs first I'm glad Will is OK though.

H, you know you wont be able to help yourself and stop buying stuff for her I was exactly the same too though when the girls were that age ROFL.

MD I just saw your FB status LOL. I hope you down crash and burn tomorrow though. Did you get any work done on the assignments? Poor Miss E not liking the dog, I suppose she's used to little dogs. I think definitely keep the trike for Christmas - she will love getting a bike like her big sister. Now that you mention duplo - at preschool the other day while I was doing fruit duty they had this awesome duplo train set out for the kids and Alister played with it the whole time we were there, so that's on his Christmas list LOL. I asked Paige's teacher which catalogue she got it from and it's only $199. We were thinking Motorbike for Lindsay, bedroom furniture for the girls and this for Alister, as well as a bird avery and some birds.

Ange, does the area being a bit better make you feel better about choosing to go there over the other places?

OMG Clare!!!!! Details please!! You didn't say anything at all about looking at another house! I am so glad that the Great House Hunt is finally over for you - now the joy of packing up this house ROFL. I'm really sorry to hear that Oma's not coping too well you kinda almost wish it would just end so that they can be at peace and not have to go on anymore don't you? As much as I didn't want my Nan to go, I just wanted it to hurry up so she wasn't suffering anymore.

clare - yay!!! well done on getting a house - tell us all about it. sorry your visit to your oma wasn't happier

noni - hanging out for news!!

arte - so sorry that your mum is putting the dogs before W and will be missing out on the new bubs too. sorry about the goat too.

trill - can you get duplo over the internet - please tell!!

ange - can't believe you're having to move again, what a pain, but hope that glenn finds a job that he is happy in - even if it's in PNG!!

well i had two nights up in wollongong this week. k was happy to see me for about 5 minutes, then dh was top dog again. had to do a bit of persuading to let me put her to bed. oh well, i suppose one day i will be more popular than him.

and i think we have a bit of a tomboy. tried putting a dress on her this morning and needed a lot of persuasion (only worked by saying that daddy would say how gorgeous she was when he got up) and then it only lasted for 5 minutes before she wanted it taken off.

Yep Cally, you sure can. It's from the companies that supply preschools/childcare etc and they are really big sets of stuff. It's Modern teaching Aids, but the website is just 'teaching' and then the usual at the end. You can order direct from them with cc without an account or being a school etc. I have brought from them years ago and they were really good to deal with and the postage is quite good too.

I am so excited for Noni and keep checking FB for news lol.

Cally lol at the tomboy, I have never been one for dresses.

Arte big hugs sounds like you have had a rough day today.

MM I was looking at the ruche dress for my niece, think I might get the marilyn for her.

MD I like the idea of both girls getting new wheels for Christmas.

Clare CONGRATULATIONS, tell us all the details about your new home!! Sorry about your Oma

Not much happening here, got a double stroller today and had a play at the beach. I am buggered and still have to go and pick Dh up from drinks with his workmates, lets hope it is soon.

Ange, New Britain is gorgeous from what I hear. More Pacific Island than PNG proper!!!

Arte - Horrible about the goat. Dogs left to roam are a terrible hazard, my little BFC (who is tiny) managed to maul a chicken one time one a friend's ppty (they told us to let him off to run around, didn't know the chickens were out & about ) and he's only little. I just hope it was quick for the goat. Yeah definitely tell W he has gone to another farm where the grass is greener & sweeter Re your Mum, I think it's probably harder for you because you don't like to tackle confrontations head on (well none of us do) but I do think you need to keep telling her - no we're not visiting unless the dogs go in a crate/cage while W (&baby) is up and about. I mean, REALLY, it's only a few hours for the dog...like they don't just lie down and sleep when they're in a crate ANYWAY!!!!!!!!!!!

Clare, I want details too, you can PM me the real estate ad if you like! He hee! Can't believe you managed to pull it off in the middle of a such a huge stressy difficult week too.

Trill & Cally- I have bought lego via a place that sells for kindies & schools, I think it's the same one you were talking about Trill. In our case I bought a huge Belville (girl lego) in a mermaid underwater kingdom theme that was selling o/s but difficult/exxy to get here. I found it by googling Lego & the product number (which I got on the Lego website). Easy peasy and saved ourselves a fortune.

Saw Noni's FB status about heading to the hospital, looks like this is it, WOO HOO! Go Noni!

Arte - Ohhhh no poor goat, bl00dy dogs!! As for the owners, keep your dogs locked up especially if they are capeable of something like that. I wouldnt tell W the truth myself. Our cat bought a dead bird into our laundry once, unfortunately M saw it before me & she went hysterical, I was trying to remove the poor bird while thinking omg how does she know iykwim? They are so smart. Anyway after that she did not sleep that day, she was upset all day long. As for your mum, I'm completely shocked that she does not put her dogs outside when W comes over, especially seeing as they snap. ESPECIALLY SEEING AS IT SNAPPED AT W!! My parents have a border collie who is a very friendly dog & has never been any trouble, but they are absolutely paranoid when M comes over, the dog goes out. Poor thing gets the garage when M goes for a sleep over, but they just wouldnt risk it with her. I am sad that your mum puts her dogs before W. Sorry I'm not trying to rub it in by telling you about my parents iykwim I'm just trying to u/stand her thinking?? Such a shame that you guys made such a huge change in your life to be closer yet for what? Hopefully thing will change

Oz - What stroller did you get? Are you not going with a double pram etc?

Clare - Forgot to say I am sorry about your Oma

Cally - Think of how much $ you will save if she is a tomboy lol.

Trill - Its hard with girls because you can get so many cute little dresses & outfits & I am such a sucker!!!!

AFM - Thanks girls re all the advice with the little situation with DH. I talked to him about it, he is terrified about it happening again. The Dr told me that the waiting 3 mths doesnt really apply to me as I had the tube removed, not just repaired. If it gets repaired a repeat ectopic is very possible as the egg gets trapped in the scar tissue. So I told him that & he has relaxed & wants to start ttc again lol. However I am thinking now maybe we should just wait till after Bali, we go in early Oct.

Maybe even a Bali belly babe to bring home with you? I'm glad you and DH have talked it over and resolved it Also if you had of have the MTX you would need to wait that long too for it to be out of your system fully. I still have all the girls little dresses from when they were toddlers cause I just can't bare to part with them because they always looked sooo cute in them. I have passed a few down to my niece, but her colouring is fairer than my girls so what they had doesn't always suit her.

MD, it's a great resource for quality kids toys isn't it? I don't mind it being a little exxie, cause I know if it's tough enough to survive a preschool or childcare situation, then it's tough enough for my kids LOL

Oz, I have been doing the same thing and stalking noni LOL. I hope he's not gone too late so you're not sitting up too late waiting

Well that was darn quick, congratulations to Noni & family on the safe arrival of William!!! YAY for Noni!

Trill - I really dont think I could part with Maddie's dresses & little outfits either, although my sisters have claimed most of her stuff for their future kids lol. By the time they have kids it will probably be out dated, besides that if I have another girl down the track it will go to her so by the time they get it all, it will be so worn! Thankfully I didnt have the MTX. Anyway I have to wait to get a period before anything can happen hehe.
