Cass - hope your two little babies are feeling better.

Miss K isn't up for opening the fridge (we have an upside down one), but she has free and easy access to the freezer for her post dinner icy pole. Also knows exactly where the Craisins are in the cupboard and will get them and a little dish to eat them off.

Ginger - enjoy your little holiday, hope everyone is feeling back to normal.

Jaz - glad you are enjoying your special time with H. Very impressed at her swimming around the pool! Our lesson last night was not so good (Mummy, hold hands! - refused to jump in by herself - not a lot of Mummy patience left at the end of that lesson when I know she was doing it for DH last week)

Phones - Miss K was walking around this morning saying 'Call Izzy'. Unfortunately she had called DH's work instead.....

Arte - Thats terrible of your mum, how hurtful. However a good thing to come out of it all is that you know you will never treat your children how your mum treated you. Your children will know they are loved and you will have a wonderul relationship with them even when they are old enough to have their own families.

MD - Yes I know what you mean about H making it seem more dramatic than it is, just to see what your reaction to it all is - my sister does it to my mum too and of course my mum falls for it. I think all you can do is encourage and build up her self esteem, as you are doing. Maybe its just a phase she is going through and as she gets older and more mature she wont let things get to her so much. Even now for myself I think back to what my worries were as a teenager and realise how petty they were lol. BTW what an op shop score the bassinet was. I have turned into the op shop queen, I am forever finding things we need at a fraction of the cost you'd pay brand new.

MP - I think some mummies need to work to keep their sanity - I am one of those mummies. Dont feel guilty at all.

Clare - Aww no your poor cat & dog, let us know what the outcome for both are.

Jaz - I am another one amazed at H's swimming ability! Thats so great.

Cally - Yes I know what you mean about K getting into the pantry and helping herself to a snack, M does it too. Its cute how they get themselves a little plate too.

Ginger - Hope the gastro has passed.

omg! how dark is it over melbourne right now??!! man, i am meant to be picking leila up soon but we have been advised to stay indoors....hmmmmm.

Cally: soo what did DHs work think of that lol?

Arte: yep, she sure did! ah my pets know how to do it well...

thanks for the well wishes with the furbabies. so far, no news really. the kat is the real worry, as he needs to eat and do his business. both of which he is not interested in. but then seriously if i was hit by a vehicle as big as a car if i weighed 6kgs, then i dont think eating or moving would be high on my 'to do' list either lol! that said, he did sit up today and take some steps....so that's gotta be something right?

eepp! the wind has picked up! it's so so dark! BBL!

    Hi ladies,

Cass, how are the furries going today? Signs of improvement, I hope.

Jazah - wow sounds like you girls are really enjoying your mornings together! All that swimming sounds great.

Arte - oh yeah I could do with an AD&D outlet too. . In fact I need more FUN, full stop. Life is very boringsville at the moment.

Having major rampant-out-of-control toddler issues at the moment. I even took her to the Dr because the behaviour transformation has been that stark. Nothing wrong with her though. Seems like it's just me. A lot of the strategies I used with DD1 don't seem to be working. The asking-for-something-then-changing-your-mind-and-deciding-you-don't-want-it-and-having-a-tantrum-over-it behaviour is just OTT. I felt reduced to a quivering mess this morning after a particularly bad run. I've dusted off my Toddler Tactics book cos I can't handle too much more of this. And I'm not handling that stressed-brain feeling very well - need to get Zenner.

Clare, how are the pets today? My cat was hit by a car and the first day we went to see her she was blind and could only walk in circles and was making a feral growling sound. I bawled my eyes out. But she did improve. For about a month we did cat physio making her walk in circles the opposite direction and her sight came back. For about a year if she got stressed she would start with the circles again (the first bird she caught was a disaster - she let it go inside and then ran in circles with the excitement of it all lol). But now she is perfectly fine, you wouldn't even guess. We also had a dog with the cruciate ligament problem. She was 10 when it happened, had the op and was still o.k when she ran away at 14. Don't stress too much about the hips - it is a problem but we have had a large three legged dog and it didn't bother her too much. You can also take your time to decide - our dog didn't get the op for about 3 months because mum wasn't sure if it was worth it due to her age. The damage is done and won't get any worse if you wait and it doesn't seem to hurt because they know not to put weight on it. She always limped at a run. Is Stella a lab? It is quite a common thing for labbies.

MD, Tantrums suck. William woke up and launched straight into an hour long one this morning. Grrrr. How did H's week at school go? I am with you on needing any sort of fun. I can't remember the last time I had a good laugh.

Amelia is down to the dregs of clothing, she is in size 0 now but I don't have enough of it so I have to face a trip to the shops. The last time I went was Boxing Day, so now there is a huge list of stuff we need so that is my plan for tomorrow. I hate it. The trip is about 1 1/4hours and she only sleeps for about 45 minutes so the last half hour is spent with her grizzling.

MD, I just ignore tantrums like that. A doesn't do them much thankfully but E used to a lot and I would ignore her because when she got wound up there was no was she would listen to you. With A, I just tell him fine, you can't have anything now and put whatever it was he wanted (then decided he didn't want ) on the bench or table where he can reach it and walk away to a different room and make myself look busy and every single time by the time I go back in there - usually when he's stopped - he has decided to take whatever it is afterall and is completely over the tantrum.

Although we did have a long half hr tantrum the other day because I washed his pillow case. He is very obsessive about his pillow and it's like his blanky. He only has 4 pillowcases that he will let me put on it and to wash them is a nightmare because he always has this transitional tanty LOL where he objects to the old one being taken off for as long as it takes me to put a new one on and convince him that 'frogs/dinosaurs/trucks is just as good as the spots' and then he is fine, but the other day it was just my luck that ALL 4 of them were dirty at once so he had none to put straight back onto it and luckily by the time he realised there was no pillowcase the wash was just about finished so he just had to wait for it to dry but that is the longest that he has ever tantrumed for.

Arte, I hope the shopping trip goes well hun and you can get it all done before you have to bail out Maybe you could shop for the kids clothes online to save you some of the hassle of a shopping trip away?

Clare, I hope the fur babies are doing OK

    Hi to everyone else!

    Hi guys!

Arte: ah yeah, i forgot that shopping trips for you are a large scale drive...i always think it's just sherie's domain lol. hopefully it will go well enough and you wont be too exhausted by the time you get there!
that's very cool news about your dog and cats experiences! we are hoping for something similar.

MD: yeah, i'm with sherie on this one. you just gotta find a zen zone and shrug your shoulders and walk away. no need to fight the fire itms. in real outta of control moments i just put her in her room telling her that she needs to calm down and maybe have a rest. i put her in her bed and lie her down and walk out (closing the door!). she can get up and whatever, but at least i have offered her a chance to take a chill pill...

Sherie: maybe it is the special sleep drool smell that he loves lol?!

Junglemum: hope that you guys are good and having a smooth transition to PNG...when are you going again?? must be soon...

Hi to everyone else that i have missed...hope you are all fine and dandy!

AFM: we had a lovely day today. went to the farmers markets at the childrens farm. it's all certified organic and free-range stuff, so went nuts. the most beautiful crunchy apples, the most perfumed tomatoes this side of the meditteranean, some fat mushrooms and juicy oranges. not to mention all the lovely sweets and the like.

oh i forgot to update on the animals! stella appears to be mending!! so am hoping that she just mega-sprained herself rather than torn the ligament as was suspected...

ciccio the kat appears to be recovering, albeit slowly. he is still not out of the woods by any stretch of the imagination. i cannot believe how stoked i am about seeing him pee lol. he also ate half of his dinner tonight...now for the best bit, have to wait for a poo!

Clare thats great news on your pets. Hope they only improve from here on in.

MD - Ohhh MD dont worry you arent alone with the horrible trantrums and mind changing ways that these beautiful little toddlers use! How long has E been in this mood for?

Arte - Come on Arte shopping for a girl is the best!! lol I love my shopping, especially when it comes to clothes for M. Cant wait till we go o/seas I am hanging for a shopping session in KL for Miss M!!

Girls I am so proud of my girl. Today we have had 3 wees and two poo's in the toilet. She stops, tells me what she needs, and runs off & gets onto the toilet (using the toilet step & seat I picked up from toys r us). Its so gorgeous because she is also so darn proud of herself, we praise her to the max and she always gets a few smarties. Tomorrow I am going to try to use knickers all day long, as when I have her in a nappy she uses it, whereas in knickers/nakie she always thinks and runs to the toilet iykwim. Better chuck a tea towel in my handbag just in case though lol

Well done Maddie! H, one thing I strongly suggest you do when you are out for the day in knickers is always ask her if she needs to go, or even just take her and sit her on the loo - 9 times out of 10 they will do a wee and I can guarantee that they will always need to go NOW! when you are miles away from the nearest toilet or are in a checkout queue LOL. They often get too distracted when out shopping to realise that they need to go kwim?

Clare that is such good news that they are on the mend! And I had to LOL at the sleep drool comment because it DOES smell like that LOL which is why they need washing. he slobbers like a Saint Bernard dog in his sleep. I wish we had farmers markets like that around here.

Arte, how did the shopping trip go?

MM: oh wow! that is totally awesome on the TT front!! i am green with envy. argh, leila just loves watching herself wee on the floor too much lol!

Sherie: yeah, the markets are nice, but the prices are restricting. definitely good that they are only once a month IYKWIM.

hope everyone is having a lovely day and maybe getting special valentines attention...me, i have been dumped for soccer LOL! so went to the neighbours and they fed me on pancakes, bacon and maple syrup. so not all bad lol.

Not much Valentine's action happening here, but then we've never been really into it!

I'm busy sorting everything out as I am heading up to a week long training course in Sydney tomorrow. Granny and Pa are coming down to help DH out and give K a few days off from kindy as well which will be nice. Me - I'm heading to the shops, going to a movie and generally going to try and enjoy some evenings to myself! Oh yeah, and maybe learn a little bit ouf sewage treatment - does that sound like an interesting topic for a week long course???

MM - well done on the toilet training, still no sign of any interest here.

Cass - so glad the furbabies are on the up!

Arte - good luck with the shopping trip.

Yesterday we had a 3 hour nap - so good!

Just got a little woohoo here - Miss K was doing her usual post shower nudie run when she came up to me and said 'wees'. I expected to see a puddle on the floor, but then she went running off to her potty and did one there - she did a few more nudie runs and kept saying 'more wees' and going to sit on the potty. After about 3 times, she did a poo.

So big success here tonight - and one less box of smarties in the pantry!! So proud of her, totally off her own bat!

Hey chicks, kinda dropped of the September radar. sorry. Was finding it a bit tough to keep up.
Seems like toilet training full speed ahead around here! Lu is not up for it just yet. She is going very well, a little jabber jaws who is a bit too cheeky for her own good!

Thanks for thinking of me Claire. We go officially in the first week of March, although DH going this week again. I have bridesmaid duties on the 28th of Feb and 6th of March and will go after that. It's been a long time coming! Starting to feel like it was never going to happen.

Anyone here got any blogging tips? was thinking of starting one for the jungle family.

    Hi Everyone -

First of all Junglemum did I miss your birthday yesterday? Happy belated birthday!! Hope you had a lovely day. Wow the departure looms...re blogging, I've mucked around with google blogger and it's pretty easy to use. I would start there.

Thanks everyone for your reassurance on the tantrum front. I felt better after I had a HUUUUGE nap on Fri afternoon - I think the tiredness factor meant I didn't cope as well as usual. Anyway the little darling went for a sleepover on Sat night so DH and I got some grown up "hot date" time - including a sleep in this morning, so feel ready to face another week of toddler ups & downs.

Arte - did you get your shopping done? Big size 0 girl (ROFL those eeny clothes look so tiny these days).

Cass, good to hear the furries are recuperating - amazing what difference a few days make (speaking as a recently chopped person LOL). That market sounds great, the FDC lady just told me of one near here that used to be a giant trash & treasure but has turned into much more of a fresh produce one since I last attended 6 years ago - looking forward to checking it out. *SNAP* we had pancakes & bacon & maple syrup this am (whoops for my diet) plus I fried some bananas with cinnamon too. YUM

MM the crazy tantrums really has been the last 10 days or so...apparently she's started telling the FDC lady "NO!" too which she never did before. Fun for all players. Woohoo for M's fantastic toilet going!!

Cally enjoy your time in Sydeneeeee!!!! Woohoo for the potty action, Miss K.

Trill sorry I had to laugh at you bracing yourself for the washing of the pillowslip. It's funny the things they get attached to, isn't it? I remember being very attached to a pillowcase as a child - that was back in the day when kids had normal sheets with stripes & flowers instead of pictures - and this one pillowslip had circus animals on it. I loved that thing and had it on my bed for years until the seams went and eventually it disappeared...LOL.

DH gave me a small but very lovely offering from Haighs for VDay today and it sort of freaked me out to remember that this time last year he was visiting me in hospy with a very BIG box of chocs cos I'd just had my gallbladder out - blissfully unawares of the year to follow. Coming up to my cancerversary soon.

Oh No Ange! I forgot your birthday! Happy Birthday for yesterday hun I hope you had a great day. You will feel all bridesmaided out by then I reckon LOL. I have mine with Blogger and it is really easy to use.

MD but look how far you've come this past year though so the only way to go now is up I'm glad you got a decent nana nap and a sleep in so you can face the week ahead, but knowing toddlers she is just as likely to be 'normal' again this week LOL

Cally, that would have been cute to see her rushing back and forth. I guess she could tell it was coming LOL. And you will have to tell us what you can possibly talk about poo that it would take a week to get it all done have a great time though!

Last night A started doing the funniest thing. Lindsay taught him how to 'arm fart' - you know when they put their hand on their armpit and flap their arm getting a fart sound - and anyway he's come out doing his arm farts and blowing raspberries and generally being a cheeky little bugger and it was hilarious!

First day of lectures starts today too! No doubt my excitement will have waned come June ROFL

    hi girls!

JungleM: wow, you are a popular girl with all that bridesmaid action. have to say that i quite like being bridesmaid...get to dress up and not have the stress of running the wedding hoping everyone is having fun etc. should of just been a bridesmaid at my own wedding lol.

sherie: woot woo! gotta tell us what the lectures are like! and what they are!

MD: glad you got a nana nap in there. i soo need one too after yesterday's day of tantrum. although overall we had a good day together, it was hard work and TIRING just dealing with the petulance IYKWIM. everything had to be pushed to the limit...

Cally: oh wow! these kids are doing so well...now to just remind leila that toilet is for wees and poos and not the floorboards...
have a GREAT week in sydney! i am jealous!!!

hi to everyone else! hope you all had a lovely weekend!
