LOL Ginger. I would go to bed then too if A wasn't such a night owl. She has been up until at least 11pm four out of the last five nights and it is 9.15pm now and she is showing no signs of going to bed.
Was Cally going on holiday? Everytime she doesn't post for a while I imagine some Lego project gone terribly wrong - a slight miscalculation and then she, her DH and K are trapped in their lounge by three foot thick walls of Lego....

Arte - you crack me up!! I am here, safe and not surrounded by Lego. Work was crazy just before Christmas and then we were at my parents place and now we're home just relaxing. I did pop on the other day to check out the end of the last thread though. I have completely read the Millenium trilogy since Christmas and generally feeling pretty good (except the shocking cough that is giving me attacks everytime I go to bed so DH and I have been in different beds the last week). I do feel though that I am keeping up with all of you because of FB though which is good.
Congratulations Arte - I have everything crossed that this one is a sleeper. Hugs about Chim.
Sounds like everyone had a good Chrissy. K was totally spoilt, her presents ended up going over 3 days because of the sheer volume of them. We had bought a lot of little things (mainly books) and MIL just went overboard. Including a dolly stroller - the third one she has given her and we had one anyway!!
We had a quiet NYE - I've never really gotten into it and there isn't much around the 9pm mark here so we were all in bed normal time.
Trill - your new pup look gorgeous. How's DH's dog going with the sore foot?

MP - sounds like a lovely holiday
JM - wow, what a swimmer! K starts a 9 day intensive next week. She's still not back up to where she was at the end of the same thing last summer.
Cass - very impressed with the cubby, especially that you managed to do it without L finding out!
K is having a sleep over tonight at MIL's and DH and I are going out for a nice dinner his sister gave us for Christmas. At the moment she is asleep on the floor next to the bed, folded up in her little doona.
BTW - I got a GHD for Christmas, now I just need to work out what to do with it!

LOL G, I probably should. It just never looks as straight as what the hairdressers can get it when they straighten it.
Cass, E hardly moves at all during the night but the other 3 are all really restless sleepers and end up all over the bed in a night. It's often I check on them and have L with his head up the other end of the bed.

I'm the newest member of the GHD wannabe club *sigh*.
Arte we had a bit of out-of-control behaviour due to extreme tiredness recently, my money is all that extra trike exercise is pooping W out, fingers crossed it gets better once you're back in the usual routine. We have that hole in the ozone right over SA too...sun seems more bitey here than on the eastern sea board.
JM, yay for the new house meri, hope this one works out well for you. Are you going to come back to Aus for the business end of your pg? That's great about L swimming like that!
MP, good you're planning more leisure time, holidays etc this year...it works cumulatively I reckon.
Cass, I'm a nervous nellie with missy E near water too (scarred by an earlier life event). But she's actually pretty good in the water so I think she would catch on pretty quickly if we started her in swimming lessons around now.
Cally LOL about all the dolly strollers. I bet MIL hankered after one all through her childhood but didn't get one, kwim. Hope you enjoyed your dinner, what a great idea for christmas!
Trill (and Arte) - are you both doing a third (summer) semester or is this just normal for your course? Mine closes down completely between Nov and Feb!
Trill - yay for big bed boy! Has the new bed arrived or not yet? We're thick in a debate about whether to put dd1 in a loft bed. I seem to be the only person in the family who understands it won't create "more space" in her room because the underbed space is currently used for drawers & tubs (storage) so that will all have to go somewhere in order to put a desk or whatever under it
Here's something funny for you...Missy E has only just learnt (after months of me trying to teach her) that when she wakes up in the morning she can get out of bed by herself (before she would just lie there shouting out until someone opened the door, like she couldn't get out of bed until the door was open LOL).

LOL MD, how did that realisation come to her? I wish mine would have stayed in bed longer - they don't get the concept of just staying in bed because it's warm, or that they don't have to get up just because they are awake. We haven't got the bed yet, hopefully it wont be too much longer. We were going to ring them towards the end of the month to see if it came in early or not though. I get why you don't want a loft too - we looked at them and you don't gain anything at all by having them. Although we did see one that wasn't all that high - probably 4ft, but all the underbed part was drawers and storage already which would be great to get rid of rollerboxes etc.

It's taken about 3 weeks of us getting up, going to her room, opening the door and saying "you can get out of bed and open the door yourself" and then closing the door again LOL. I think she lies in bed a bit before she starts shouting anyway, she likes being in bed. Gotta love that!
DD has already got a cabin-style bed (probably about 5 foot) hence the functional storage space. I would like to use the situation to demonstrate to DD that she can't keep all her "stuff" AND have extra space magically in the room...something's gotta give, she needs to get rid of some of her junk!

I know Arte, it's just terrible isn't it. They must be going through hell. I keep thinking about them too.
MD- I was the biggest pig as a child, there was no empty flat surface in my room, including the floor. My mum used to say if I wanted to live in all that junk, it was my choice, and she refused to clean it, just insisted I close the door. I hated throwing things out too, must be a girl hoarding thing. At about 15 I suddenly decided I wanted to live in a little more organised fashion! Must have been the boy influence.
Mum thought it was the biggest joke when I went working on superyachts, cleaning toilets with cottonbuds and ironing undies.

Lori and her family were my first waking thought this morning. Just like that her life has changed to some kind of waking nightmare. But I do believe that prayers and positive energy does help the recipient, and T has a huge community of people praying for him, so I hope that it helps in some way. And now Lulu has had a terrible loss too,
JM, please don't tell me there's another 3 years or so of total mess-making. LOL at your superyacht cleaning days.
Missy E has been a mega cranky pants these last few days. She has taken to shrieking loudly any time any of her (often unreasonable) requests are refused. Doesn't help that DD1 (at home on hols) pays her lots of attention when she does it. ARGH.
DH's homemade pizza tonight...the man is in making-up mode after he failed to listen to my hardware store advice this morning, resulting in the huge spring from our garage door springing off and smashing my car's back window. $500 to repair, fortunately it's mostly covered by our insurance but we may still have to pay for the tinting...grrr...but thanking my lucky stars there wasn't a little person riding her tricycle nearby at the time.

MD: leila has days where she yells from her bed in the morning, but mostly now gets up herself and grabs her cup of milk from the kitchen that DH prepares the night before lol. on the mornings that she shrieks from the bed it's usually 'cause she hasnt slept enough...and then i know that we are going to have an *interesting* morning lol.
(oh, and we have had mega attitude lately too...something in the air maybe. Leila has been deliberately defying the rules etc and it is starting to drive me bonkers. every little thing now needs to be challenged and laughed at
).
JM: *snap* i was a miss piggy-wig for aaaggesss. it wasnt until i started to notice boys and have girlfriends over that the mess got better...being shamed at school was always the fear lol.
Arte: yeah DH and i had a big convo about what we would do or what would happen if one of us were to go. not a great thing to talk about, but something worth talking about IYKWIM. we havent organised guardians or anything for the girls and we dont have any wills...we are bad. so we have resolved to have it done this year. peace of mind.
Sherie: i'm with you on that one. i like the semester thing, as i too reckon that trimesters are just a recipe for burn-out and a further opportunity to just rush education. some things are worth taking time...
AFM: ssooooo tired today. i think i need to get more iron supps. i ran out and had been travelling ok, but the last few days i realise that i need it. the dizziness is always a good clue.
also, marta has taken to having a chat at 3am in the morning; which is okish, BUT then today refused all talk of sleep. so was awake from 7.30am to 7pm without pause. didnt even look tired
leila has been looking a bit flat lately so i got her on some fish oil, but since then has been having the runs...do you think it could be coincidence or related?? i am worried that it might be the fruit flavouring stuff...arghhh!
