We've had sick twins here too. I've been on the edge of being sick and just managing to avoid it by taking gallons of vitamin C and echinacea tablets. Hope he feels better this weekend.
Gigi - thanks for the kind words. My friend is a naturopath and has been treating me and hopefully i will turn a corner on this slump. Its a pretty dark place without friends.
I twin feed the girls. Otherwise it takes an hour to feed and change them. I got a special twin feeding pillow from the ABA and they are held in the football hold and they lay under each breast to feed. They are great feeders and they just get on themselves without me latching them on.
It took a while to teach Mae to BF since she was in ICU. I still get angry that the stupid nurse told me I had to feed without taking her feeding tube out of her throat! Of course the poor thing refused to feed and gagged everytime she tried. But now she's the stronger feeder of the two. I used the stronger feeder (whichever was that was that week) to alternate between breasts and keep up my supply. Now they have on designated boob after working out their preferences.
They do wriggle a lot during bfing but I wrap them up or else they slap/scratch/poke each other in the face. I use to have to put a magazine between my breasts to stop the hand wars that go on. Once it starts...milk and tears everywhere!!!
Dont know how long we'll keep it up. Everyone asks me when I'll stop as if its too hard but honestly it is EASY. Bottles are hard.
We started solids last week and that has been tricky to get organised. Mae is a fast eater while Hana hasnt quite worked out where to put her tongue.
Ella just adores them. Loves to hold their hands and pat them on the head. She would love the audience i think.

gigi awww thats cute of bilby to be playing peekaboo!! sounds like she enjoyed the attention. its awesome that your feeding her still, pity its not the norm these days in this country!
ARM sophie is going great !!! started swimming lessons by herself today shes such a big girl been inthe pool all by herself! the lessons for the past 2.5 yrs have paid off, its great to see her so confident in the water. we found out tuesday that she was accepted in the the 3 yr old kinder group we wanted so off to kinder 2x 2hour sessions next year! where has the time gone
shes going great at toddler group and recent ly learnt her left from her right!
shes quiet tall now 97cm and 14 kg, shes like a string bean! tall and slim!
miss millie is also great, very placid like sophie was, still wakes once a night for a feed, but nearly 6 months now!!
Jols - Ella also just learned her left and right. She loves singing. She brings home a new song everyday its amazing what her little brain can pick up. My little sponge. She's not too keen on swimming as she hates putting her head under water.
Mae and Hana also still have ONE feed in the night. 11pm they have a big feed and then up at 6.30-7.30am So we cant complain. Have you started solids yet?
Our girls are so close in age. 4 days between Sophie and Ella and 3 days between Millie and the twins!
Been invited to a wedding in Melbourne and I Love to go but I'm a bit anxious about travelling with the girls. Thinking maybe I cant go.

Ann, thanks for explaining about how to feed two at once. Excellent that there is a special bf-ing pillow to help you do it. I used the football hold in the early stages, until bilby got too long. Are you able to feed them when out of home? like at the shops? When i was first learning how to bf, i NEEDED my comfy sofa at home, my special pillows and found it really hard to feed when not at home. i would do it if i had to, but got sore arms and back.
Sounds wonderful that both of your girls latch on so well.
i can understand your intrepidation at travelling interstate with three very young children. i think for me, i would need AT LEAST to have one adult per child, to do that.

bilby has been 86cm (since April) and 12.5kg, still got the chubby face (i suspect from the sucking to get the breastmilk), even though she eats like a sparrow.

Yeh TL, i have been wondering too, if you heard any more about Chino's allergy test.
We get the results of the two part speech therapy assessment back soon, looking forward to finding those out. I feel like i'm living with a mute child. She is constantly trying to communicate with me (and everyone else) with mime, gestures, acting it out. So few words and most of those i have to translate for other people e.g she says "boo" and points at at blue item, i know she's telling me the colour. Other times, boo means other things to her. So many letters just don't come out. Boops instead of boots. Gar instead of Car. Dah instead of Star.
i wondered if her liking and chewing up (for 20 mins) a tiny bit of meatball, (made of mince) but not being physically able to swallow it, might have some meaning, as to why so little speech, but the speech therapist had no idea what to suggest, when i told her about that.
the lovely Gymbaroo teacher has just had breast cancer surgery, so i doubt we will be going to any more Gymbaroo classes. Can't believe this has happened, she is the loveliest person and teacher, really inspirational, the kind of teacher you don't often come across. Has made "a difference" to SO many children and their families.
Wow Ann! What a beautiful adventure youre having! Good on you! I would be nervous about travelling too.... we're meant to be going to a wedding on saturday and thats just down the road but im now thinking i wont go..chino wakes every hour or so at night so whats the point in me going. even if DH goes to him at nigh he screams so i just dont think it will be worth my stress.
AJP - Yay on Sophie's swimming! Not to sound like im boasting or trying to top you - im just nodding in agreeance - evie started on her own a lil while ago and i finally now feel confident about her water safety lol she dives in on her own, picks things up off the bottom then bounces off the floor and swims back to the edge lol what a lil dot but at least i know she can save herself!!! chino just splashes and yells at the water but still loves his lesson with mummy!
Ohhhh the saga of the allergy!! SO paed rang me and said 'no immediate allergy to egg, milk, soy or wheat' BUT it could be either a clinical or delayed allergy. but basically no allergy. so i thought fine, so i tried a little more cows milk and he also had some cheese, broke out in a rash on his chin straight away and also vomited and vomited, and did his usual choking turning purple thing. so f**k yes, i think its an allergy!!!!!!!!!!!!
anyways, ive started him on some diluted soy milk and he seems pretty happy with that, its been a couple of days and doing well. so now i'm trying to wean him...but i am also sad cos i will miss it and since there wont be anymore babies for me....im kinda holding on to that baby feeling
