I have a not so good news story but I think its better to knwo where you are at.

DP slipped a disc in his back at the gym and went to a chiro and it made it worse. It became a petruding disc and basically incapacitated him. We didnt have PHI either and because it wasnt a 'life threatening injury' the wait list was extreme. We waited it out 6months on the public system and when 6 mths came around they said it would be at least another 3months (as all the emergency surgerys get pushed ahead and non-life threatening ones jsut keep geting pushed back).

We ended up forking out the $13 grand for the operation at a private hospital as DP couldnt live with it anymore. He became so depressed, out of work for 6months, a 'cripple' basically. He awas hunched over all the time.

After surgery he was instantly better. I hope you get better and dont end up needing surgery. As I said DP's was a petruding disc, but it did start as a slipped disc.
