    Red face Argh....not again....

Well for the 3rd time after birth my fissure has returned

It first made its presence known 5 weeks after Chelsea's birth. I battled with it on and off through Jasmines pregnancy until it went away maybe 1-2 months before she was born.

4 weeks later it was back and again i battled on and off with it.

The i fell pg with Zachery, it was there for maybe a month or two and vanished. WOOHOO

I thought at last it had gone and wouldnt be bothering me anymore...WRONG

Last week it returned. Im just so over it coming and going. I increased water and fibre so i could avoid it (knowing the pattern of it coming after giving birth twice before). Im now back to living on Coloxyl with Senna trying to get things softer (sorry TMI) so it can heal again.

Ill be asking my GP at the 6 week check up whats the next step...i cant go on anymore with this. Ive tried the creams the dr's suggest. Ive taken advice from Yael who knew exactly what im going through (thanks hun ). Im just over it now.

Just need some relief from the constant pain and feeling like glass is coming out my butt each time..LOL

    This happen to anyone else?
What helped you in the end?

Kim - go see my colorectal surgeon... my mum works on the bum ward so she recommend the best for my bum *lol*

If you can't get it to go away with heaps of fibre (i was taking 3-4 glasses of metamucil each day) with around 3 lt of water for a few weeks so it could heal, then your next step is to go with the botox injections in the anal sphincter (botox for ya bum )

They can operate, but only if you are finished having kids...

I didn't get one this time - which was really lucky, but i think it is always a slightly weak spot, as if i get badly constipated (which happends when i am slack or eating badly), i always feel like it is going to come back in exactly the same spot.

    Do you have PHI?

Kim when I had hemorrhoids after DD3 was born, I got something called "proctofoam" which is also meant for fissures. It doesn't heal it exactly, but it provides pain relief, and I found it was WONDERFUL! Not sure if it would be marketted under the same name in Aus, but it would be worth checking into anyways. I believe it is available OTC. Can't remember for sure - my midwife got it for me. Hope you find some relief! That kind of pain is absolutely miserable.

I have one and the dreaded h'roids.
Sucks, I feel your pain, I just put up with it.
Make sure I eat enough fibre, grain breads seems to be the best for me and lots of fruit, if I miss more than a day of not eating grain bread, boy do I know about it, we upgrade from razor blades to pocket knife.

    Oh my Oh my!!!!
I thought I was all alone (I am almost crying with relief that I'm not experiencing this all by myself). My DD is 15 months old and I have tried everything. I have an appointment with my GP this afternoon to get a referral to a surgeon as it is doing my head in not to mention totally ruling my life for the past 15 months.
I thought I was in this alone.....
