I was horrified at mine after birth and had to keep asking nurses advise...they were very casual about it all infact no-one even told me thats what had happened, and I had to ask why my butt was falling out.

Anyway, I sent DH off to pharmacy to get some ointment. I told him to ask pharmacist and tell them that it was for his wife who just gave birth and was really suffering.
    Ointment helped a lot.

Other than that, a midwife said that it would get smaller and better over a few weeks. And it did.

I now (over 12months later) still get itchy. Which drives me nuts. But I have some ointment in the bathroom to apply when it bothers me too much. It works, but unfortunatly I think thats just a common problem with having the big H.

    It will get better though

eta - i just remember (though you may be past the stage of this helping now) that I sat on flannel wrapped frozen icy poles - amazing!

Congrates on your birth and little bub

I used an ointment which really helped, they have eventually gone away although it did take a while and they came back with each recurring pregnancy. Not fun, are they

and they came back with each recurring pregnancy.
NOOOO i nad my :fingerscrossed: that they wouldnt.. oh well..

I got the H when i was prergnant (i got it eraly on, when i got whooping cough and was coughing like mad for 2 months straight) they went away and then came back later when bub was putting alot of pressure on down there.
i remember during labour i kept reminding them about it hoping they could do something that would maybe not make them any worse.. during the actual pushing tho i completely forgot.
the hossy gave me rectinol (sp?) which helped alittle. i was wrapping up ice cubes in a sock and then putting them on the outside of my undies and sat on them, temporary relief but relief all the same.
they do go away, but if i strain now when i do #2 i end up in a little pain (so ive learnt not to strain and go when i REALLY need to TMI lol)
but now when i do something to make them hurt i use paw paw ointment and this is fantastic.
    hope this helps xx

just wanted to say you are not alone!! i was to scared to go to the loo for about a week after giving birth casue they were so bad....but that just lead to a whole other list of problems!!!
19months on i still get a twinge every now and then! but they were gone by about 12 months really. Nothing really helped much, cream etc is ok. rectinol. my mum had hers removed after having me, dont know if they still do that these days?? not sure if this is normal or if others do it but id just pushed them back inside SORRY TMI, but that helped so much. but i think there are different kinds you can get.?? hope it gets better for you soon!!!
