I was horrified at mine after birth and had to keep asking nurses advise...they were very casual about it all infact no-one even told me thats what had happened, and I had to ask why my butt was falling out.

Anyway, I sent DH off to pharmacy to get some ointment. I told him to ask pharmacist and tell them that it was for his wife who just gave birth and was really suffering.
    Ointment helped a lot.

Other than that, a midwife said that it would get smaller and better over a few weeks. And it did.

I now (over 12months later) still get itchy. Which drives me nuts. But I have some ointment in the bathroom to apply when it bothers me too much. It works, but unfortunatly I think thats just a common problem with having the big H.

    It will get better though

eta - i just remember (though you may be past the stage of this helping now) that I sat on flannel wrapped frozen icy poles - amazing!

Congrates on your birth and little bub

I used an ointment which really helped, they have eventually gone away although it did take a while and they came back with each recurring pregnancy. Not fun, are they

and they came back with each recurring pregnancy.
NOOOO i nad my :fingerscrossed: that they wouldnt.. oh well..

I got the H when i was prergnant (i got it eraly on, when i got whooping cough and was coughing like mad for 2 months straight) they went away and then came back later when bub was putting alot of pressure on down there.
i remember during labour i kept reminding them about it hoping they could do something that would maybe not make them any worse.. during the actual pushing tho i completely forgot.
the hossy gave me rectinol (sp?) which helped alittle. i was wrapping up ice cubes in a sock and then putting them on the outside of my undies and sat on them, temporary relief but relief all the same.
they do go away, but if i strain now when i do #2 i end up in a little pain (so ive learnt not to strain and go when i REALLY need to TMI lol)
but now when i do something to make them hurt i use paw paw ointment and this is fantastic.
    hope this helps xx

Yes, I think that is normal. I remember it feeling something like that, hence why you need to get some ointment. TMI - but you get the kind that has a nozzle and you insert it up your butt. The ointment needs to get up there, not just treating the outer area.

Oooh... yes, I remember them... they HURT!

The internal pressure is probably from further hemorrhoids inside your rectum. It sounds like you have a pretty nasty case! I did too, you are not alone. My OB prescribed me with an ointment called Sheriproct. It is heaps stronger than Rectinol or any of the other 'over the counter' ointments. It sorted out my 'roids within a week or two. Only problem is that you need a prescription for Sheriproct and it is not on the PBS (it wasn't a few years ago, maybe it is now???) so it's expensive, about $65 for a smallish tube. Well worth every cent I say, and a lot cheaper than surgical removal!!

Good luck and congratulations on the new bubba!

Sheriproct ointment was fantastic! I've used other types before for tiny roids but the Sheriproct was the best!! They are horrible I had big bad ones and all the symptoms you're describing. The other thing I did was ice, if you get a little flat ice pack you can put it inside a pad I found that helped.

I feel for you the were horrible I couldn't drive until mine went as I couldn't sit properly...but they do go!

just wanted to say you are not alone!! i was to scared to go to the loo for about a week after giving birth casue they were so bad....but that just lead to a whole other list of problems!!!
19months on i still get a twinge every now and then! but they were gone by about 12 months really. Nothing really helped much, cream etc is ok. rectinol. my mum had hers removed after having me, dont know if they still do that these days?? not sure if this is normal or if others do it but id just pushed them back inside SORRY TMI, but that helped so much. but i think there are different kinds you can get.?? hope it gets better for you soon!!!

beckoes, yeh you can still get them removed, i talked to my Dr about it and he said i can do it before i had another baby but the chances of me getting another one is pretty high. he recommended that once ive stopped having babies that maybe then i should consier it. ill be having one more and then will most likely consider gtting it removed if its really bad.

i also (tmi warning) pushed mine back in too lol coz i couldnt sit preoperly either it hurt so much.
also make sure your eating lots of fruit and veg, drinking plenty of water and have good fibre too, (so that your #2 arent too painful iykwim)

i got so duped in the roid department, mine started appearing 5 days after birth! how rude!
the pressure was soo amazing, and soooo uncomfortable!
It all sounds pretty normal hun, just drink plenty of water and eat heaps of fibre so u dont agitate it too much when u 'go'.

I have always had them but they got really bad when I got pregnant and after birth. I use Proctosedyl. It seems to work. I haven't had them for a long time. Like Stevie-Ann, I pushed them back in when applying the ointment. Sometimes it hurt but it was worth it because it stopped the pain. I haven't had them for a long time which is such a relief because they are awful. They do come back once in a while if I'm a little constipated or have the runs (!?) but majority of the time they aren't there. If they do come back I use the Proctosedyl and they go away after a couple of days. It is over the counter and not too dear. It comes with a nozzle but you don't have to use that. I hope some of the suggestions given help you out. They are not fun at all.

PS Your baby girl is just BEAUTIFUL Shell. Gorgeous xx
