Black Cohosh is brilliant for it.

not sure about remedies as such but i found cutting back on some things i was eating was great for preventing or reducing it.
preservatives in general and food colourings in particular nos 110, 122, 123,124 seemed to make mine worse.

We dont actually have artificial colours, preservatives or flavours here as DS#1 reacts to them, but thanks anyway

A low-GI diet can help enormously with bloating and fluid retention and cramps. Also if you can get Black Cohosh or Dong Quai in any formulation these should help too.

I use a chinese herb my naturopath suggested to me. I think you can only get it through a naturopath or similar.
Its Dang Gui & Gerdenia, and i got it given to me because of my skin, but it also aids in the relief of pre-menstrual and menstrual signs and symptoms, and its really good!!! It also has other benefits such as giving you more energy etc.
It tastes absolutely ferral, but well worth it!!!

In a yoga class I went to a couple of years ago the instructor reckoned there were yoga techniques you could do to prevent period pain.

BP, Dang Gui = Dong Quai. You're right it's quite hard to get hold of.
