Kristy Lee unfortunately HPTs are very sensitive and sometimes it happens that they pick up what is called a chemical pregnancy - this is basically where the egg is fertilised but fails to implant properly or develop, therefore your period comes, often a day or two late. Apparently many women have this happen, but don't know it, it's often only ttc-ers who test more often that find out.
Although it is also possible to have some bleeding at the time your period is due. I would suggest you take another HPT tomorrow to check, or go to your dr for a BT.
I hope it is the latter case for you. GL!
