Hi I'm new to this site (any site for that matter!). I've just recently (May 08) been diagonsed with a complete molar pregnancey, & have been finding it hard to find others who have gone through this experience to try & nut some thoughts out. Unfortunatley for me I seem to have gone through the worst case scenario, after having a D&C I wasn't followed up correctly by my doctors & ended up having an emergancey hysterectomy in July. Also unfortunately this was to be my first pregnancy so I had no other experiences to compare to. I'm soo scared that there are other women out there like me that have no idea how disasterous things can turn out I would just like them to know that if you feel like you are being over looked or pushed aside because the professionals knows best, then make sure you make one hell of a racket. I had 3 seperate enities apparently following up on me & not only did they not seem to care (until it was nearly to late) they just fobed me off to the next person. I'm now under going chemo & it just seems to be a never ending story!

Hi Emjee. Welcome to BB, it's a great place for support or just to get your thoughts out!
I'm so sorry to hear what you've been through. Lani has offered me great information and a link to a website which I can send you. There is not much information out there.
Wishing you all the best with your chemo. And I'll send you the link, it's been helpful to me, hope it is to you also!

emjee, im so sorry to hear all youve gone through. Please check out the link that izzy is sending you. i know theres a girl from qld in the support group who also had to have a hysterectomy. And alot of the girls in that group are going through chemo. I hope they can offer you some support.

Izzy and i have been chatting in this thread about her follow up and my experience last year so if you'd like to join us, please do. My case was much less severe than yours, but i can, at least, begin to understand where you are coming from.

izzy- good luck for your test tommorrow! let me know how you go. I never had to have any chemo, but if you do end up going that way, yours would be a very low dose cos your numbers are already quite low. Ive been told, most people dont even get any side effects with it. Lets hope your numbers are nice and low tomorrow so you dont have to go there tho hey?

Hi Lani, I'm haing trouble sending Emjee the link....would you mind having a go please.

I'm waiting on my results as we speak, but you are right it's a low dose if its required. Apparenty an injection or a tablet, and just a one off, so I am sure the side effects would be mild, if at all.

HOORAY, levels dropped from 581 to 321...Not over yet, but that's the best drop I've had, so the dr is happy!!

I hope you are going well Lani, not long till your scan now, I hope you are excited to see your bubs, I know it would be hard to not let the fear take over.

Emjee, I hope you found the link ok. Let us know how you are going..

izzy! yay! that is a great drop for only 6 days later! so glad to see its coming down by itself without further treatment. Another week til you next test?

i decided to push my ultrasound back a week so ill be 8 weeks. just didnt want to take the risk that the baby might be too little for a heartbeat at 7 weeks. everything seems to be ok at the moment. When i had my molar i had brown spotting from 5.5 weeks - no sign of that at the moment, so that makes me a lil more confident. Plus im nowhere near as sick as i was last time. so fingers crossed.

Yes Lani, Weekly testing fom now. So that's great!

Thats a good idea to push it back to 8 weeks. I had dating scans with both my boys, both just days away from the 8 week mark, and there was no missing the heartbeat, so 8 weeks will be perfect. You know, I had the brown spotting too, but did with DS1, which was fine, so I was not concerned at all. But that's great you've had none. I read that you can be really sick the the molar, I was not sick at all, not even a day. But I obviously had the enlarged uterus because I was huge, and was just putting it down to baby #3.
Hang in there, the 8 week mark will be here soon. Are you having you scan done at an obstetric ultrasound centre? If it was a molar (which it's not) I am sure any sonographer would pick it up anyway, if that's what they are looking for in particular.
