See if you can have one or two taken out at a time...my FIL is a dentist and did a beautiful job on removing two of mine in the chair. I was eating steak that night. Oh, and they were both impacted and were rotting. Yuk.

I was also told that if you run out of gauze packs and you need something to staunch the bleed with a dry tea bag does the trick as well as a guaze pack would.

MrsR- My dentist told me to get naprogesic for the anti inflammetry and panalgesic for pain relief. But yess freezer is stocked with frozen peas.

Oooh panalgesic knocks me out...it's good stuff. Isn't naprogesic for period pain?

PS...the gauze packs...we refer to them as mouth tampons in our house.

Yeah it is but they said it was the best stuff for anti inflammetry properties. Ive never had panalgesic before but was told that it would knock me around a bit. lol at the mouth tampons. My dentist told me with the peas, if I bought a pair of really long socks and filled the up with the peas that I would be able to tie the sock around my face-really glamorous hey lol

Oh, I've never heard of it used for that before...interesting! Panalgesic just puts me to sleep, anything like that does...I've got a pretty low tolerance for painkillers so they're pretty effective for me.

Nice about the socks...you coud stick the peas in small snaplock bags and then use a hair band maybe, you know the wide fabric ones to hold your fringe back?

Had to come back in here and read all the stories (prolly not a good idea).
I guess once they're out and I've recovered I'll be happy cause they do cause me grief on and off.

cate - u can fly anytime, would be a good idea to give ur body a few days tho just to recover from the GA its self more than ur teeth, Your body might feel ok but its a big thing to come out of a general. Also just make sure u take good pain killers too.

ps, im a specialist dental nurse performed tones of GA's and had my own out too so i can sympathis with u lol

Oooh thanks Lauren. But the problem I have is, Friday Shane and Tara are working and I'll be home alone with Ellie and I will need some help. Perhaps its better to rest that day and fly saturday. I have to give Dad and answer tonight as he needs to know to bring the carseat up or not.

yeh, u will need the rest. the painkillers are pretty strong too, u will have to be careful with looking afta bubs too, normally u would be put on panadine forte which can make u drowsy, and does go to bubs if ur breast feeding, but if it doesnt make u drowsy its ok for bubs only for a very short time tho, i had a c/sect and was on it then too and my bubs was very quiet for a while LOL
ull have to speak to ur surgeon if thats an issue. but definatly get as much rest as u can and keep up ur fluids, dont be affraid to eat as soon as u can too! ull need the energy!

Ok I'll call the hospital today, to find out when my op is and how soon I can travel.

The hospital don't know the theatre lists until the night before so all they could tell me is that my surgery is in the afternoon. Which is helpful. So I think its better I travel on Saturday.
