Question i feel dumb i need help

I need help ohhhhh MY god i feel dumb today

i need to do a graph with what i think is to many variables
can someone please help me i have read and reread everything in the modules to do wiht this and it does not makes sense so if anyone could help i would so appreciate it i have a one on one lesson with the lecturer next week but this will drive me batty in the mean time

    here it is

    a class of

    a pretest= 90 final= 98, b pretest= 49 final = 62, c pretest= 66 final = 81,d pretest= 82 final =78, e pretest= 71 final = 75

i have to do a scatterplot to show the realationship between pretest and final exam then draw a line of best fit to indicate the trend in the data and show what score you would expect to see on a final exam for a student who received 58 on the pretest

Have you tried doing the scatterplot in MS Excel? Put all the pretest figures in Column A and the final in Column B. Then create the graph through the Insert dropdown list.

    Hope that helps.

OK nurses are my heroes along with teachers - so let me help you if I can.

On the x axis (left to right), plot the "exam marks", ie. the numbers 0 to 100 in groups of 10, ie. 0,10,20,30,40 and so on.
    Maybe have 1cm = 10 exam marks
    Label this "Pretest "

Same on y axis (up and down) but label "Final marks"
    a pretest= 90 final= 98, b pretest= 49 final = 62, c pretest= 66 final = 81,d pretest= 82 final =78, e pretest= 71 final = 75

Person a, got 90/100 for the pretest and 98/100 for the final.
so - go along the x axis (right to left) till you get to the number 90.
then go up the y axis until you get to the number 98. At that spot, put a dot and mark it "a".

Next, person b. Go along the x axis till you get to 49. Then go up till you get to 62.
I'm gonna do a rough drawing and put a link to it for you as it's a lot easier to explain like that.

Anyway, don't get caught up for the moment in the pretest/final thing.
    Just think, x and y.
Once you have marked all the points, a-e, you will see that they roughly create a line, which increases from left to right. Ie. If you score a low pretest, then you will probably score a low final mark. which is what they are trying to get you to say.

Anyway - plotting it now for you, and going to scan it and send you a link. Hang in there.

Lots of love and positive vibes towards you for being a nurse!

    plot "pretest",
on the y axis plot "final"
