I got some promotional material from Curtin (my first preference uni) yesterday thanking me for choosing them and providing me with a login to access their online events over the summer. I wonder if this bodes well for me. :P

I logged into my uni application thingo today and they had link there to check offers - I missed out on an offer today, but there are more in jan/feb! Hoping for some good news then. But right now I feel a bit stoopid. I dont think I would get in at all.

    Karina,
Sorry about no offer today but hey how boring would it be knowing you have a placement this early
We have early then 2 3 and 4th round offers starting in Jan so I'm over the initial disappointment but live with hope. I'm sure there will be alot more smiling faces in here in January.
Sushee: I'd give curtain a call and play dumb..lol. Asking if you have been accepted as the paperwork received was confusing .

LOL Bec, because then if I know now, I can decide now whether or not to go back to work. If I do get in, I dont think I will go back to work. But if I dont, then I will think about going back to work part time. Also, I hate waiting!

Relle, I reckon you will get in.

Sushee, sounds promising! I'd call them.

My DH thinks I'm silly if I call them and that I should just wait. Easy for him to say!

I got an email from TISC and over 600 people have appled for my course . Of those 250+ have made it their first preference. I wonder if there'll be room for a 37 yo mum of 4!

Karina hun, you are not stupid. The STAT test doesn't credit you for all your well-roundedness as a person. Hey, i reckon there is little harder than being a good mum, and I don't think as women we get credited enough for that as life experience. Isn't it one of the most challenging jobs to raise and nurture another human being? This is why paper tests will never be a true judge of our cluey we really are.

Oh, Shazz good luck with the thing you have to write. Is this a special test you have to do for enrty to uni? I hate having to write things like that. Its really not my strong point! Do you get to write it in your own time at home, and then send it in? I suppose you could write about all the marketing crap on TV and how alot of the time you only get to see one viewpoint on a topic. Anyways, good luck with it.

I'm still waiting waiting waiting.. till january to find out of I got in or not.. Going crazy in the time being and trying to work out if I should apply for TAFE as well as I dont like my chances of getting inot uni.

Sushee, were they able to tell you how many places are available for the course you applied for?
I asked at the uni I applied at but they wouldnt tell me I agree that the paper tests are a bit crappy. At University of Notre Dame you have an interview and that forms part of your application. I think thats a good idea, but thats the only uni I know of that does it.

I think most unis do interviews as part of their mid year intake as you apply to the individual uni but the January intake goes through one central instituition which makes it so much more inflexible. If I don't get the course I want, I'm considering rejecting any subsequent offers and hoping for 2nd round, or alternatively look at mid-year intake instead.

I'm also going to speak to my MIL, who works in Curtin's Health Sciences dept, about how many places there are! Good idea Karina!

Well done Shazz! Best of luck with it, hun! I sat my STAT in early August and don't find out whether I've gotten in until the 17th of Jan, so I have been waiting ages already! Don't worry, with Chrissy and New Years and Australia Day the time will fly!

Good luck Shazz, its hard waiting but with Christmas there should only be a few of those days where you constantly think about it
I had some good news the other day...a friend of a friend was asking about me and she was saying how I was waiting for a life changing opportunity lol little did I know she works at the uni ( health and science),I applied for and said with my stat I should get in and they didnt do any early offers. Life is looking ok again
