    Yeah Rach i actually saw a pic of yours (Krystal on a dark green slide) hat made me think to ask. I did look through the threads but i must have missed it!

    Another way of doing it if the area you want to leave coloured is easily selected.

    Use the lasso tool to select it the area you would like to reamin coloured.
    Inverse the selection int he selection menu
    the press CTRL + SHIFT + U to desaturate the remaining area

    Yeah haven't done much... i showed DF and he just thought I was smart to have figured it out... until I showed him how easy it is!

    The magic wand tool is probably easier than the lasoo if the area you want to select is well defined!! You can play around with the levels of the magic wand but it can be tricky to get the right amount. Give it a go you might be suprised how well it works!!
    Magnetic lasoo is probably better than the lasoo also - the normal lasoo your using freehand and sometimes looks dodgy and not too smart (IMO). The magnetic lasoo will at least "grab" onto the border/outline of the object your trying to select.
