Hi Katanya, I came looking to see what had been happening with Felix and after reading 8 pages (phew!) I think I’m in the picture now. Love your new piccies, I see you’re a digital photo addict like us. It’s so hard to edit them isn’t it.

I admire you sticking with your instincts about continuing bf & sympathise about him not wanting the ebm supplement. Sounds like supply is definitely not your issue, just so hard to get so many extra calories in. Angus was doing really well with his solids for ages, and DH makes him great concoctions with rough mashed vegies, potato, mince & adds full cream cottage cheese to it. He has different batches made up in freezer bags, and we add the cheese just before serving. It’s a great way to get meat into him and you could use goats cheese. Unfortunately now (& he’s only a bit older than Felix) he’s going through a funny stage of pulling soft food out of his mouth and preferring finger food, toast etc. I’m just thinking ahead on your behalf I suppose, how do you supplement finger food? No doubt there’ll be heaps of suggestions from other mums, it’s great that you’ve got so much support here. BTW, Angus seemed to poo about 200 times a day when he really started getting into his solids, but we didn’t worry as the consistency looked, um, healthy, lol.

Will be thinking of you for the biopsy & agree with Lulu, make sure you get some time out for yourself. Sounds like you’re a brilliant mum.

Thanks for your feedback and comments Yvette!!
oh god yes I am, He will gobble anything from plate but says "no.no, no" to his ](*,) Though today I made pasta for myself and he gobbed it up!

we've been through that many food stages it's not funny!!

We do avocado on toast, Christy he now loves meat especially chicken, and I buy tenderloins and cook up about 3 a night and he can grab them and munch.
Also cut up small bits and add them to his avo..

He eats quite well now, he's comsuming about 300mls of the wonder juice (fortified EBM) even though I offer more that seems to be his maximum!

Good news he is sleeping much better, sleeping through from about 10 till about 4am..which is better than the every 2 hourly he was doing!
He will wake up now and fall asleep too without a boobie feed.

I don't worry that it is or was my supply, and I have a super double pump someone lent me which gets the milk out SUPER quick..I love it..not sure how long I would have lasted expressing from a single sided pump! I got out 240 mls in 10 mins yesterday how's that for speed??

I ma just praying he is going to gain enough to not warrent that pesky nasal gastric tube!

Hi everyone, thanks so much for the thought for Felix and I.

Unfortunately we didn't get to the lung biopsy this week, as Felix got sick on the weekend and continued to get worse by Monday. They told us they wouldn't do it while he was sick. Tuesday night he continued to get worse (temps, runny nose, not feeding) so I rang the specialist at the RCH and she said to see the paed or go to accident emergency and get him seen since he wouldn't feed. We managed to see his paed and he admitted him into the Gold Coast hospital. They suctioned him and tested it and he is RS positive (RS virus) and ended up with brochialitis, so has been a sick boy. We got out today, and although he can't hold down his solids, he is able to breastfeed okay now, also off extra oxygen during the day

The lung biopsy will be delyade for 2-3 weeks, and we have been told to isolate Felix from other children for 2 weeks as he is still infectious.

Poor little guy is having a very rough time of things..have your fingers crossed for him and that he has a good break before the next hospital visit.

Oh katanya he must have been feeling absolutely miserable... my little boy spent a couple of days in hospital with that when he was about 7 mths old because he too shut up shop on the feeding front (can't blame them when there's so much goop inside from the virus).

I'm glad Felix is feeding properly again. I hope you get a lovely sunny day down there on the Mountain and that the three of you can spend it out in the sun (looks like rain on the Sunshine Coast today #-o )

Katanya Felix is having a rough time of it. Glad he is home now and I hope that he gets better soon. Did they put him on antibiotics?

    :hugs: for Felix.

    How are you going Katanya?

Thanks for your thoughts guys, he is feeling MUCH better today, and is starting to eat again..unfortunately I think he's lost lots of weight again

Lara, no they didn't put him on antibiotics as it is viral, there is no point. Just had to ride it out, and remove the mucus

I had a really bad day yesterday, I started crying and feeling really down, hating our house (it's a big mess) feeling isolated, and unhappy about everything..but having a much better day today, decided to take Felix to the shops as he was much better (he loved the stimulation) and bought him some new warm shoes. I feel much better today and came home with ideas about what to do with our house to make it easier to live in.

Thanks for asking, it gets a bit depressing sometimes with this rollercoaster of illness and hospital, but I just keep thinking that soon we'll have some more ideas about what is going on for definate.

I find sometimes it can be really hard to let people know that I'm having a bad day or not coping as well as I would like. And when Alana is dealing with such a serious condition, sometimes I feel guilty for not coping or having a bad day.

I definitely find that I cope better if everything is organised, especially around the house. There is nothing worse when you are trying to cope with hospital visits etc etc and then have to come home to a mess. I hate it when people say to me ask for help or don't worry about the mess. That doesn't work for me. I need to be able to do it myself and I can't stand mess!!!I'm stubborn and probably a little anul when it comes to the house!LOL!

I think I have said this before, once you know what your dealing with it will be a relief. You can just get on with it. Its the waiting and not knowing that drives you nuts.

Its always easier for other people to tell us not to worry about mess and disorganisation isn't it?? They don't have to sit in it all day long and just look around at things that need to be done! and ikwym about having to do it yourself...there are somethings that I have to do myself around the house...

When Matilda had really bad reflux days and all I did all day long is laundry and clean up vomit, yet there are dishes piled up in the sink & the floor was disgusting and there was stuff everywhere due to rennovating our "junk" room... all I could do was go for a walk to get away from looking at all I had to do. Katanya that trip out of the house sounded just like what I used to do, just get away. Luckily we have a park a 5 minute walk away and I would put Matilda in the sling and walk and swing....

I know what you girls mean about the house mess, I have no excuse though, lol. Expecting visitors usually motivates me to get things done, but it's hard to keep up with things at really busy times. I just keep telling myself, keep up with the washing & kitchen & bills & nothing bad will happen. It does really get me down sometimes though. On the rare occasions the whole house is clean I feel so good, but then I can be kind of *****y about keeping it that way til I've given up again, lol.

Anyway, I say again Katanya, you're doing great!

Just wanted to say Felix is happy and Healthy again! And I am feeling GREAT..never had my happiness linked to another person (don't belive in that sort of thing) but my small son has magical powers..when he is happy he makes the whole world seem a brighter place

He had his fluvac (half dose) and new teeth have come through..he's such a great teether, just dribbles and bites everything in site, not even grizzly..I'm lucky there!

House is looking cleaner, we rearranged stuff around, and DP attacked the garden. So that makes everything seem better too!

Thanks everyone for the comments, I am finding I am feeling heaps better ATM, I have caught back on sleep, DP and I actually had some together time, and Felix is doing great..

Not sure when the biopsy will be, I should really ring the hospital and find out but I'm kind of enjoying this inbetween time...I don't want us to go back into hospital again
