Starangelk - I'd tell them she feeds herself, otherwise they may try to put food in her mouth.
hi all! We're back in here againEli is 7 months now and he's just started on BLS a few weeks ago. We did mushed food to begin with for health reasons. He needed to gain weight or we were off to the hospital so I started feeding him yogurt in the mornings and it worked, he's back on the chart and gaining not loosing
Anyways! He's had almost everything you can think of, but by far his favourite is pumpkin, and orange! He looooooves orange.

Okay Snowy, thanks for the tip. I will tell them but if anyone tries to put food in her mouth her likely reaction will be "PFFFFffffffft" hee hee hee. I <3 BLS
Thats what DS says too!
oooh we have a new favourite! Avocado on toast went down a treat this morning.
Hmm well I was trying to subtly stalk you but I think it was an epic fail
haha
xx
Eli had sundried tomato and mozzarella pasta tonight for dinner. I added some tuna and corn for some oomph. I think he liked it ... considering he screamed the house down when he'd finished it haha First time having pasta so was happy he liked itHe's really getting into this BLS thing
For a baby who was spoon fed for the first 1.5 months he's going great

DD just STILL isn't interested in food. I get all excited at the end of each meal thinking "wow, she's eaten loads" only for me to take her out of the high chair and the food all falls out of her nappy. She's still very much playing with the food, or licking the things that she likes and not actually eating anything. She does kind of eat grated cheese but that's it.
I'm really worried that she's not getting enough iron etc. I tried tonight to spoon feed her a yoghurt and she was having none of it. Snatching the spoon from me and doing it herself - messily.
I keep hearing that "it all falls into place at 9 months" but as the months go by, it's not for us.
I'm getting worried. She's also still breast feeding like a newborn and I'm getting exhausted.
Sorry for the vent. I trust BLS is the very best way to go but when you have a kid who doesn't eat anything then I just start to worry.

Mummasue - hugs for you.......it's hard isn't it. The way I justify is to myself is that I trust DD to breastfeed and get enough milk that way so I need to trust her to eat food and get all she needs. I am sure you have tried heaps of varied foods since she started BLS but maybe try some of the ones she refused or didn't seem to like earlier again and see if she'll take them now? DD hated oranges but now she loves them and sucks them dry. Maybe it is just going to take your DD to find a food she absolutely LOVES......just a suggestion.
How many meals are you giving her each day? We aren't doing lunch here but have just started afternoon tea and morning tea to add to the bfast and dinner routine.
We're doing every single meal of the day - I feel like I'm never out of the kitchen at the moment. Breakie, morning tea, lunch, arvo tea and dinner. I want her to get loads of practice and her hand/ eye coordination is awesome. She knows what to do - is just choosing not to at the moment. *sigh*
She gets a huge variety of things, some cooked and some raw. I know that the only thing to do is just keep at it but it's wearing me down a bit.
She's such a boobie girl![]()
Sue, my DS is interested in the food but not ingesting much - and when he does, it seems to be by accident. I'm worrying that when I go back to work (in 3.5 months!) that I'll still be breastfeeding him 12+ times a day. My heart says that's fine, but I expect the reality to be a lot more challenging. I trust BLS too, but sometimes I think force-feeding him pureed would at least make him drop some feeds before I go back to work
I'm sure your DD will hit a magical, mystical milestone, and everything will fall into place.for you - it must be frustrating in the meantime.
MummaSue - it must be because you make such great booby milk!! Hang in there........
Ahto both of you. They will get there in the end. I'm sure one day soon it will all just fall into place and you'll forget the early days while they eat non-stop. I found DD's eating would make a huge improvement then plateau or even fall back a bit for a while before another huge leap.
We've just come across another interesting phase with DD - she's putting whatever we offer into her mouth having a good old chew on it then spitting it out, raspberry-blowing style. She's not doing it much with her old favourites, more for foods she's previously avoided. I'm not sure if she's doing it because we've just taught her to spit for teeth-brushing, or because she has a sore throat, or something else entirely. DH thinks she's gust doing it for attention, but I don't. I'm just ignoring it and hoping she'll stop soon! Anyone got any ideas or stories of similar situation that just miraculously improved over night?!
mummasue, Ash was 9 months before he started to attempt to eat, and by 12 months he was starting to eat a lot more.
Mumma Sue, DS1 was 10 months before he started eating solids. We did purees with him, but he just didn't eat it; refused to open his mouth. In hind sight it wasnt until 10 months that his reflux settled down; suddenly he started to sleep better and started to eat. Hang in there, she will eat in her own time.
Hi all, I've been a-wall for awhile. We are caught up in the flooding in Ipswich. We are safe and high and dry here, but 10 minutes down the road it is utterly devastating. Were are pretty much smack bang between Goodna and Ipswich. I spent the beginning of the week stressed out about whether family and friends were safe and now the end of the week starting the clean up. I personally can't help physically clean, I have left over pelvis problems from my pregnancies and I can't even mop and vacuum in the same day without having to take a heap of nurofen, so I was feeling utterly useless. So today I loaded up with 10 loaves of peanut butter, vegemite, honey and jam sandwiches (so Aussie), water, fruit and supplies and dropped them off to groups of friends that are volunteering to clean. It made me feel much better that I can do something to help and I will be doing the same thing tomorrow. Its only the beginning, there is going to be months worth of work. I can't begin to even describe how bad it looks and smells and the amazing things I have seen today. Servo gas tanker sitting in the middle of street, wheelie bins in the tops of gum trees, office chairs hanging from powerlines, couches upside down from ceilings, dumpsters on roofs. And the mud is unbelievable, its can be inches thick and absolutely stinks rancid and everything is brown and grey, like an old sepia photograph.
MummaSue, she should be getting enough iron from her milk. You may be surprised if you thought about all those meals, and how much she had in each one, add them up and it will probably come to more than you think. My sister was much the same, mum says she was a milk girl too. Rest assured, they are not like this forever, eventually food is the done thing, and booby, well its just the thing over there.
Oh well off to bed for me, I have studying to late and my eyes are hurting.
