Yeah the more i read it the more I think that this is definitely the way for us.
Although, I have porridge every single morning for breakie and have done for years - will see how missy goes with it, am going to give her a spoon and I'll sit and have mine with her and see how she goes.
Just brought this book off ebay it comes from the UK ,but its only 20$ free postage ..excited to read it, we are doing BLS anyway but i have not got a book on it yet only books on mush food that now sit in a box
I don't know anything about BLS at all ..... but i get the impression that basically it means we don't give our babies pureed food at all instead they are given chucks of food in the way which we would eat - is this correct??? Think i need to go and do some googling, lol.
That's exactly it Westy. It also says why giving baby pureed food isn't teaching them to "eat" properly as the puree is just going to the back of their tongues and they are sucking and swallowing as they would if they were taking milk from breast or bottle.
mummasue re porridge. We didn't bother with a spoon at first. We just put a bit on his tray and he played with it and had a great time. I think he got some in! I am sure you know already from reading the book that in the first days it is mainly play and learning about texture etc. it took DS a month or so before i could be certain he had actually eaten anything at all. it took ages for him to do a solid poo and he still doesn't do many. He is so independent though unlike most of his puree fed peers! 0
westy - when they show the 3 signs they are considered ready. That is sitting up with no support at all, are able to pick things up and put then in their mouth and are showing an interest. This is usually at 6 months but could be later. they need to be showing all 3 signs.
I also have just received my Baby led Weaning book. I bought it off ebay from a private seller. It's quite a bit smaller than I expected and has 'Not for Resale' printed on the back of the book. Does anybody else's book have this?? I'm just wondering if perhaps my book is a scaled down version?? Seems a bit dodgy!!
Mooks, my copy is 256 pages long, publisher is Vermillion, cost 10.99 UK pounds. It doesn't have "not for resale" on the back at all. Some books that have that are ones that came in a pack if that makes sense.
Does that help at all?
