My husband and I have been going through baby names and the girls name I really love the most and would like to name our child if we have a girl and finally my husband also likes it, however, he has a cousin who lives in another state and they have a child with that name, we don't see him regularly and they hardly even communicate.
My husband has decided although he likes the name we can't have that name b/c his cousin already has it!!
I reall like it and we never ever see them, should I stand my ground that b/c we live in another state and really aren't that close that if we have a girl we can have that name???
Its hard I loved a girls name but DH said no as he has a cousin with that name!! I have never met this cousin in 8 years of knowing him and being together!!!
I wouldn't have a problem using that name. If you saw them often then I wouldn't but if they are in another state and you rarely see them (and rarely communicate) then I don't see why not. I told DH that the Mummy gets the final say with Bub's name anyway
Thanks Ausgirl. I agree. Until recently, I worked in childcare, it was good b/c you came across some usual and not so usual names, but also very confusing b/c there are so many!
My husband and I have lots of girls names in mind and there is one in particular that I really love. A couple of weeks ago I found out my cousin who I haven't seen in 20 years just had a little girl and has given her that name. I still have this name on my list as I love it so much and we never see my cousin anyway. I recon go for it!
Names are names and if you really like it stand your ground. Point out to DH that it's unlikely his cousin will make a scene over it. And if he/she does then it's there problem to get over.
