Changing my mind last minute - help!

I have had a favourite girls name since we were expecting DD1. DH took a while to warm up to it, but he likes it now. It's Anna. And I still love it.
But my sister has a two year old, whom we see at least weekly, whose name is Hannah. And DH's parents (who live 5 blocks away) have a dog name Annie.
So I'm really questioning whether we should use this name for this baby. I still love it, but we will (hopefully!) have another baby or two, and so I'll maybe get another chance, when
the dog is gone, and Hannah is a little older.
And now I'm stuck as to what to pick! We have Elyse (eh-LEESE) Marieke (mah-RYE-kah) and Emily.
I like Sophia, Charlotte, and Rosie. (need a name for Rosie - that would be the nickname. Haven't come across a Rose name I really like yet.) Middle name will be Janelle. DH doesn't seem wild about any of those names. He's not being overly helpful with picking something though - I think he's hoping this will be a temporary thing and I'll go back to wanting Anna. Of those, I think Sophia is my favourite, but DH says it sounds like a big fat Greek lady. (What the heck?! - sorry to any Sophia's out there! No idea where he's getting that from. )

Anyways, your thoughts, opinions, and suggestions would be most welcome! We've got to pick something soon!
    Thanks!

Sophia is a bit of a grown up name, but you'll probably end up calling her Soph or Sophie anyway and those are sweet little girls names that also work well for teenagers.

I really like the name Emily and you could call her Em for short which is cute.

I agree with your reasoning, I don't think Anna is right given the cousins name and the dogs name! Weird that you didn't think about it before though?

Once she's born, you could get your husband to ditch the name Anna by looking at her and saying "she's just not an Anna" - how could he argue with that?

Ha ha, DH is a little funny like that - he wants the baby's name picked BEFORE she is born. He doesn't like the idea of an unnamed baby.
I should have clarified a little - Elyse, Marieke and Emily are the three girls that we already have. No going back on those.
For the new bean I'm trying to find something better, and my current picks are Sophia, Charlotte, and something Rose-ish, if you know what I mean.
Pass along the suggestions and ideas ladies - I need help!

Rosalind? I used to know a gorgeous English girl with that name. Her sister was Imogen. I've always remembered them as lovely

i maybe you could alter Anna a little or use it as a middle name. can Janelle be a first name or saved for another baby?
    Annabel
    Ana
    Annais

as for Rosie i think its gorgeous by itself.
    longer names could be
    Rosabell
    Rosanna(h)
    Rosevear (like guinevere)
    Roisin

I know a 3 year old Sophia and it suits her perfectly. She gets Soph, Sophie or Sophia, they all seem to suit depending on the situation.

Yeah, how about Rosanna? Then you get Rose and Anna. Both times I've contemplated names I've checked out a website called nymbler, and you can type in all the names you like and it gives you similar ones. You might come across a name that makes you go - oh yeah, I love that!
Sweet middle name, by the way.

I'm with pippismum - lengthen the Anna to something like

    Anneliese
    Annabelle

or, I am teacher and have taught an
    Anna-Sophia

    Or maybe Arabella.

I could be way off but what about Lucinda?

Lucy is a name that I would put in the same "family" as Anna.

    Hope this helps!

DH and I both love Anneliese, but with a daughter named Elyse already, that one's out.

I love Anneka, but DH says it reminds him of Anikin Skywalker. ()

Nelle - I've used Nymbler, and it's lots of fun, but I haven't come across anything stellar yet. Still trying though!

Janelle is a combination of DH's grandmothers' names, and it's also my sisters name, so I'd rather use it for a second name than a first, just to save on confusion. I like my babies to have first names that are all their own, and second names that belong to the family.

Lucy.... hmmm.... could think about that one. Another sister of mine has a friend named Lucia - it's a pretty name.

Rosalyn seems pretty too. Although that really reminds me of the babysitter from the Calvin and Hobbes comic. (Do they have Calvin and Hobbes in AUS? Funniest comic strip of all time, IMO. Google it. )

Rosanna is nice.... too close to Rosanne, maybe? Was that TV show on in AUS too? With Rosanne Barr? Hated that show. But it's been a while, maybe there wouldn't be that association anymore for most people.

What I really need is some feedback from DH! Not getting anything from him. Got to work on that.

    Keep the ideas coming!

I see why you are hesitating with Anna...but each baby is different and though they do rhyme, they are different names. Anna really is a lovely name (we have a neice called Anna so it's out for us).

My best friends name is Rosie, just plain Rosie on her birth certificate and that's what she's always been known as. I think it's a lovely name.

My other favourites of yours listed are Charlotte (this ones on our very short list of girls names) and Emily (though DH's mother had a cat called Emily when he was growing up and he hated that cat, therefore will not consider Emily).

I probably prefer Sophie over Sophia personally.

If you have a short list then once you meet her you will know what the right name is. Remind DH that often people have a name picked out from conception and as soon as that bub comes out they realise that the name they picked isn't right and change it!

    Good Luck!

Elyse (well Elise is my DD's middle name after my sister Elise) ... so thumbs up here

Sophia is my all time favourite, love it

BUT if you both love, love " ANNA " .... GO FOR IT

I love charlotte, I totally understand the concern about being close to the other names. Have you thought about having 2 middle names? So you can have Anna as one of them?

On the Anna - what about Annabella? I know of only a few of these... everyone of them little cuties

Good luck and let us know what you decide.

So true Ellee05 ... as BB member Dedicated_Mummy here in Ballarat has a 2year old DD named " Annabelle " and she is just the CUTIEST ... and yes you don't hear of many Annabelle's around which makes it that much more special as a name
