I have had a favourite girls name since we were expecting DD1. DH took a while to warm up to it, but he likes it now. It's Anna. And I still love it.
But my sister has a two year old, whom we see at least weekly, whose name is Hannah. And DH's parents (who live 5 blocks away) have a dog name Annie.
So I'm really questioning whether we should use this name for this baby. I still love it, but we will (hopefully!) have another baby or two, and so I'll maybe get another chance, when
the dog is gone, and Hannah is a little older.
And now I'm stuck as to what to pick! We have Elyse (eh-LEESE) Marieke (mah-RYE-kah) and Emily.
I like Sophia, Charlotte, and Rosie. (need a name for Rosie - that would be the nickname. Haven't come across a Rose name I really like yet.) Middle name will be Janelle. DH doesn't seem wild about any of those names. He's not being overly helpful with picking something though - I think he's hoping this will be a temporary thing and I'll go back to wanting Anna. Of those, I think Sophia is my favourite, but DH says it sounds like a big fat Greek lady. (What the heck?! - sorry to any Sophia's out there! No idea where he's getting that from. )
Anyways, your thoughts, opinions, and suggestions would be most welcome! We've got to pick something soon!

Sophia is a bit of a grown up name, but you'll probably end up calling her Soph or Sophie anyway and those are sweet little girls names that also work well for teenagers.
I really like the name Emily and you could call her Em for short which is cute.
I agree with your reasoning, I don't think Anna is right given the cousins name and the dogs name! Weird that you didn't think about it before though?
Once she's born, you could get your husband to ditch the name Anna by looking at her and saying "she's just not an Anna" - how could he argue with that?
Ha ha, DH is a little funny like that - he wants the baby's name picked BEFORE she is born. He doesn't like the idea of an unnamed baby.
I should have clarified a little - Elyse, Marieke and Emily are the three girls that we already have. No going back on those.
For the new bean I'm trying to find something better, and my current picks are Sophia, Charlotte, and something Rose-ish, if you know what I mean.
