No One Pronounces the name correctly!

    Even the Unit's DAD! grrr

The name we were going to use all along is Anika.

Pronounced Arh- ni - kha (like the arh in arnotts, the ni in nipple and the kha in (o i cnat think of how to explain??!!))

Anyway, everyone has been saying it like A-nee-ka. NO NO NO! Even DH has started saying it this way. Really gets me going.

So now I really dont know Its so pretty, but I dont want to be going forever repeating how to say it correctly!

So - after some name suggestions please? I like names that are pretty or mystical.

Some other names I like are

    Tanith
    Tanaquil
    Matisse
    Tazia
    Tamika
    Tarika
    Sakia
    Aysha
    Talia

    HELP!

    Kaleesha

Have you got a middle name?
Hmm can't really think of any more right now..
Good luck with finding a new name..

Do you think going with Ahnika would help? Not quite the essential oil, but hopefully putting enough emphasis on that first syllable to get the pronunciation correct?

I think the spelling of Ahnika would solve the problem of pronounciation but then she will always be spelling it for people.

I really LOVE LOVE LOVE the name Matisse from your list - it's GORGEOUS! Although it doesn't go with the middle name you want to use. I'll come back later when I think of some more.

Im still confused with the pronounciation, is it Anika like Anikan Skywalker (starwars) but an Arh sound instead of an 'A' like cAt

sort of like harmonica but with an 'a' harmARnica.

What about using ' Like A'nika -it would stop people saying 'An' like 'can'

    What about Mehkelti

Seriously though, I know how hard it is for people to pronounce your bubs name - I'm so used to it now that it doesn't really bother me... LOL

And FWIW - I am always spelling MY name to people - and most people just end up calling me Melinda anyway grrrrrrrr...... (like helloooo people, do you SEE a "D" in there - nooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!) people will ALWAYS get it wrong, even if it is an easy name!!!!!

I like Ahnika - just for the record.
