Old boys names - can I do these?

No I'm not pregnant. I'm just pinned to the couch with a sick baby having the biggest breastfeed ever, so I'm musing, on the off chance that I ever have a boy child. Here are a couple that have been on my mind lately.

Alfie - we have an A surname. Could we do it? It reminds me of Alison Ashley. But I still think it's a gorgeous little name.

Leonard - a little sentimental. Leonard appears twice on our DD's birth certificate. But her name is Eleanor. Do they look too similar together? Also, we call her Nellie. A lot. He would get Lenny. Nellie and Lenny. Silly? Or am I overthinking?

    Clifford - or Cliff. WDYT?

Theodore - I just like it.

Opinions? Favourites? Suggestions? General discussion welcome.

I like Thoedore best of those names. Leonard is ok but I'm not sure about the abbreviations - Leo, Lenny.... Lenny always reminds me of Of Mice and Men.

I know a little Alfie. Great name... and I think it has a certain ring with the alliteration.

Leonard... I dunno, I think there is something too similar with miss nellie.

I know a Cliff- pretty funky name really.

Theodore would be my pick. Love.

    I like Theodore and Alfie.
My DD1 1st name starts with the same letter as her last name and I think it sounds lovely together, it all depends on the names I guess. (It is an A too)

Clifford makes me think of the dog. Not a fan.

I like the others though. Would Alfie be Alfred?

Leonard - As a Lenny myself, I couldn't possibly comment impartially.

Yeah, I LOVE Alfie but I don’t think it goes well with your surname. And yeah, I like Leonard but I don’t think it goes well with you DD’s name.

I think Theodore and Clifford are awesome though!

Yes, well you are a good reason it made the list.

Also, Onyx, very cultured of you. I think of Lenny and Carl from the Simpsons But I've been thinking a lot of Of Mice and Men lately. I think there's an opera out? Anyway, maybe that brought it to mind.

My surname is a first name. Think of a Maccas burger and you've got it.

You know my thoughts on Alfie... love, love, love it.

Not a hug fan of Leonard.

I like Clifford. Although my Pound Puppy was called Clifford... don't worry, your boy baby would be much cuter.

I'm trying to get DH on board with Theodore but am not having much success as yet.

I also like Barnaby, Ames, Hugh and Hugo.

Not that I need them yet either

Well Alfie and Clifford are more names I suggested but my DH vetoed. I'm a huge fan of old boys names! Nothing wrong with putting Leonard with Eleanor, sounds quite nice together.

    Uhh... Big Mac?

Seriously it took me about ten minutes to work it out.

I like Alfie... but maybe not with that surname. Bit too... rollicking! ITMS.

I love Theodore, would he get Teddy? Or Theo?

Not a big fan of Clifford... the only Clifford I know was a bit of an, erm, strange one!

Leo I like, Leonard not so much!
