Kalyey looks more traditional to me....I agree with Eluned....Kaylie looks like Kylie with a typo!
I like Kailey. A friend spells their daughters name Cailey which I quite like as well.
Im going to say Kailey. thats what im calling my bub if its a girl![]()
I think Kailey looks the most traditional I do like Kaylie too. I think because it is not the most common name people will sometimes get it wrong and might ask how to spell it no matter what way you spell it. Maybe it's not common enough to have a traditional way of spelling it? iykwim? It is a gorgeous name
The original spelling is Kayley.
KAYLEY
Gender: Feminine
Usage: English, Irish
Pronounced: KAY-lee
From an Irish surname which was derived from Ó Caollaidhe meaning "descendent of Caollaidhe". The given name Caollaidhe derives from the Gaelic word caol "slender".
I just have to say, I knew Sarah would know![]()
I'd pronounce Kailey as Kylie because of the 'ai' (hence i spell Haley not Hailey -same reason)
I also went to school with a Kayleigh.
I like Kayley out of those options.
i think kailey
Kayley
Thanks all and thanks Sarah for clearing it up - I too prefer the original traditional spelling of names.
I don't know of anyone with the name and yes Jas, I thought it was a bit too uncommon and modern to have a traditional spelling - I don't usually like modern names, I prefer old traditional names.
This name came to me in a dream recently - I was pregnant and had a girl and called her Kayley (or however you want to spell it!) and I had never even considered the name before IRL or knew anyone of the name so thought it was strange. Then I saw 1stTimeMumma88's thread a day or so later and she mentioned the name too (don't worry, I'm not name-stealing - I'm not even preg!) and I thought oooh it really is lovely!
I don't know if dreams mean anything...I had a similar dream a couple of years ago and the name "Odessa" was in it and stuck in my head when I awoke...but I really don't like that name!
Thanks for the replies![]()
i think Kayley looks best.
although if it were me, i'd go Kayleigh or Kaylee
all this Kayley talk sounds funny to me, as i am used to my Kayla! lol
