I don't fancy it but it's not one of those names that make you wonder if the parents were on drugs or the baby was conceived between stays in gaol.

Poor little Kiefer has received similar reactions IRL too. Oh well Now at least I know if I ever use that name who will be facepalming behind his back Maybe Kiefer the reefer and Scarlett the Harlet can get together? (I LOVE Scarlett!)

Not a big fan either hun, but remember it's your choice! You'd have to think what it could rhyme with at school or something, little kids can be soooooo nasty sometimes

I dont want to put a dampener on name choosing, but....

To me, Kiefer sounds like some North London gangster type cant pronounce Keith. Like "hey, Keef-uh, watchoo looking at?" etc

Btw- a dear friend of mine once told me the name she preferred for her unborn son. Apparently I said I didnt like it, which was churlish if me. She reminded me years later when I insisted I had always like the name, it suited him, she must have misheard me etc. What we may like or dislike today may change tomorrow.

So long you're not mangling the language with illegible spelling or weird-ass punctuation, name your kiddies what you like.

I can't think of anything but Kiefer sutherland. Therefore I'm perfectly fine with it as a name (massive young guns, lost boys, three musketeers etc fan). But now it occurs to me younger generations don't know who he is.

How old do I feel now that someone had to ask how to pronounce it? Lol.

I quite like it but out loud it sounds like you are saying "K for Collins" with an accent.
That's what I thought. Hello what's your name collins k for Collins. Sean Connery style. I only think this as I have to say something like this for our last name.

But I do like the name, but not sure I'd use it with that last name.

I like it. But I'm afraid to say its not a German name. It's origins are German ("Kiefer" being a pine tree or your jaw), but never used as a name in Germany. It is a very popular name in America, though! Sorry if I ruined it.

Mmmhh... you know it could just be an old fashioned name that's not around much anymore...After all, you Oma's Uncle would have been named roughly 100 years ago... So it's all possible! I learn something new everyday! Hehe
I do love the name, though
