i love it
actually i like it better as a girls name than for a boy
it challenges peoples perception of a person that they may associate with a persons name
we all do it
for instance when you hear a certain name you automatically build a picture of how that person would look before you meet them
with unisex names people have to rethink their perception when they meet the person as their perception will be all wrong as their gender assumption will be wrong!!
hope that is not too confusing
but i say- if you like it- then do it!!!!!
I like it for both genders, but I actually prefer it for a girl..
Honestly your question is exactly why we never tell anyone the names we are throwing around before bub is born. Other peoples opinions can really take the fun and enjoyment out of choosing a name for your bub.
GL xo
I rekon go for it!
Some spelling options:
Haidyn
Haydenne
Hadene
to me is still a boyish name.
what about Haven?
My first thought was the same as the others, Hayden Panettiere.
And Kim, your Darcy is the cutest little munchkin ever, she's the first person I think of when I hear the name![]()
I love it as a girls name which is funny as my little brother is Hayden.
Who are we to decide if it's a 'boys' name, is it written anywhere it was a guys name before it was a girls name, maybe it's a girls name that boys have stolen
If you like it, use it. I think it's gorgeous!

I'm with Kim, as I too have a Darcie. I changed the spelling as I think ie looks more girly. Now when I hear a Darcy, I automatically think GIRL!
I'm not sure if Hayden is traditionally a unisex name? Bit if you like it for a girl, use it I say

I love it! Its a beautiful name!
thanks ladies![]()
I like it too, I personallyt wouldn't use it but I DO like it for a girl. I think if you and your man love it then pop it up the top of the list and keep it to yourself so no one in real life knows.
Its hard to say "EEEEWWWWWW I don't like that name" when you are looking at a sweet little baby with her angelic face and new baby smell
ETA - you did ask for other spellings so you could go Haiden or Haidyn ??
thanks for your input ladies..
not a fan of haven though! we will stick to hayden.. i think i like haydenne but ill see what dh thinks! he isnt a fan of the "different" spelling (neither am i but i think thats pretty)
I like it Alish - with it's usual spelling. You never know what you'll get in the long run anyway. A friend of mine is called Gentle (definitely not a boy name), however, since she did her PhD, when she registers at a hotel, or a conference or anything as Dr Surname, the assumption is she's a man! Even to the point of putting her in a room with a male colleague - she got them to change that quick smart!
Good luck - not long to go now!
thanks wbm!! i love haydenne too but dh dosent so we are happy with hayden..
not long for you either!! xx
