Just looking for any suggestions for a sling or carrier.. Bubba number 2 is on the way and ds is a bit of a rat bag and i expect to be running around after him a fair bit so i was thinking of getting a sling/carrier to carry the newborn around in while i try and keep up with him. I hope to be able to bf this time so a carrier i could feed in easily would be good too.
Hug-A-Bub or similar wrap. The baby is really snug in there, even the head, so if you need to chase after your toddler, bubba is really secure. Believe me, I had to run after DD a lot...
I'd also get a cheap-ish pouch sling for quick trips (popping into the pharmacy for example) when it's too much of a hassle to put the baby in a wrap or when you have to put them in an out multiple times over a short period.
I have never been able to feed well in any carrier. But that's more to do with my physique than the type of carrier. I know many women find it easy to feed in a wrap.
Beautitide, i got a close carrier for the same reason. I'm sure i am going to have my handsfull too so i plan to wear the new baby as much as possible and feed in the carrier also. The GDUNH is starting in march and you can usually get some great deals on carriers then so hopefully you will have decided what you want so you can get a good price
I hated the Hug a bub, that's why I found the CLose Carrier. Wth a Hug a bub you need to learn to wrap etc (which isn't easy when you are wrapping for the first time with a cryng newborn!) A close carrier gives you the same (if not better) support and simply slides on and off.
I know some people don't like the HAB and I actually like the look of the Close Carrier, too. I don't think it was available when I had DD.
I loved the simplicity of the HAB (it's basically just one long piece of fabric and it is really easy to make your own quite cheaply). For me, it only took 1 try to get the hang of the wrapping. It comes with great DVD instructions. And once you get it, it's really quick. But with any carrier, I would suggest familiarising yourself with how to put it on and how to put baby in befor you have a hysterically crying baby on your hands.
The Close Carrier definitely seems easier to put on while out and about. It's a really clever design. The HAB drags on the floor while you wrap it. So not ideal while in a car park. So I usually just used to put it on before leaving the house and then when getting to the destination, I'd put DD in it.
From the looks of it, baby is in the exact same position in both carriers. It just comes down to what you prefer for yourself. I'm really biased towards the Hug A Bub as it saved my sanity when i had DD. But if I had had a Close Carrier for her, I think I would be just as biased towards that
Actually, I was thinking the other days that it is such a shamee that I won't be carrying a newborn in a Hug A Bub ever again unless I save it for DD to use for her children
I have a baba sling which I find hurts my neck once they get past 4 months.
Ergo I love but not for a newborn, is fantastic as soon as they can hold there head up.
Close carrier is fantastic, I still find it a bit fidley to get baby into but I am sure I will get better as only used it a hand full of times so far as didn't have it with DS1.
I cant feed in any as I have big boobs that hang down LMAO
well im a peanut shell and now a breeze ring sling person.
am feeding at the moment, very simple the ring sling gets them in a good position and is supportive..
i love my peanut shell for ease though slide it on pop bub in and away we go. the ring sling does need a bit of setting up but now its done its just on tighten, loosen and off so not to hard...
