    Hi sirenz

I have to suggest the Close Carrier for the first 6 months or so. They are fantastic, easy to put on and off and very, very comfy. The sleepy wrap you have mentioned is essentially a long piece of stretchy material that you need to learn to tie around yourself and bubs.

Wrapping isn't hard at all, but I found it very frustrating trying to get the ties correct when I first started baby wearing. The close carrier comes in 2 seperate pieces, one that slide over your head and a second that wraps around bubs. This also means that the carrier doesn't touch the floor when out and about

After that I would look at a mei tai, woven wrap, or soft structured carrier. But definately for the early days a Close Carrier!

I have a HAB that we will probably use for the first 6 months or so- although having said that I do have my eye on the close carrier. Then I want the new baby hawk with clips (oh- snap), I had the babyhawk mei tai when DS was younger and I loved it, but think the snap version would be even better, less fiddly.

Another vote for the close carrier. It rocks my world.

Hmm so far the close carrier is doing it for me

Allycat - did you find the sleepy wrap a real PITA? Or is it something that you get used to very quickly?

I do like the idea of the clips on the others mentioned as that would feel more secure for me + I don't really have time to try to tie it up when I have a toddler to run after aswell IYKWIM

thanks ladies. Keep them coming even if its already been mentioned, plz let me know your opinion

I have never tried the close carrier but have seen it in action and it looks great.
I borrowed a HAB from one of the lovely ladies on here and I LOVE it. I recently bought a similar wrap-style carrier from a fellow BBer - can PM you her name if you like
I love the secure feeling of the wrap and the versatility of being able to wear her inward or outward facing.

I love the Hug a bub for the first 6 months...its really easy once you get the hang of it, i never found it to be hot or uncomfortable and Ds1 and DS2 have loved it!
Then an ERGO best thing ever! I wish someone would carry me around in an ERGO! lol!

Good luck! Can you go to a MG and try a few or is there an Mothers direct store near you? They have a few styles you can try!
    Good luck !

Sirenz it took me about a week to master it. When my doula first brought hers over for us to try I thought this is going to be such a pain to use but once I got the hang of it I never looked back. DH figured it out pretty quickly too so it can't be THAT tricky
We prefer the sleepy wrap over styles with clips simply because we have such a big height difference (I'm 5'2, he's 6'6) so it saved us having to continually adjust the straps everytime we used it. If you live in Melbourne I can give you the name of a shop that sells them and could possibly try it out?

    Hope that helps
