I got a really thin soft pillow for DS from Big W it was called a toddler pillow I think... it is the same size as a regular pillow and I think putting it under the sheet is a really clever idea if you are worried about sids but agree with TD that at 16 mnths she should be ok.
Ive been wondering the same thing as Bellahs 18 months old and doing the same thing, I guess a really thin one wouldn't hurt at all as the positioning wouldnt alter too much, even i think ive seen them when DD1 was little but special toddler pillows
My DS had one from when we put him into a toddler bed at 15 months....for one of the same reasons....would sleep well in our bed with pillows. Works a treat here...
I bought a really flat one from Ikea.....putting it under the sheet would be good for your peace of mind if you need to do that.
we have 2 toddler pillows & 1 boomerang pillow for DS, he HATES the toddler pillows but loves the boomerang pillow.. he has had a pillow since he was 12 months.. but we co-slept and he always had a pillow in our bed and slept alot better with it..
My miss has had her own pillow since she was in her big bed at 14 months. I just bought her the tontine junior pillow. However before that she slept with us mostly and used ours. She always slept better with one and now wont sleep without one. You need to do what you can to get enough sleep!
My DS has had a pillow since around about that age. No probs here. He just settles so much better with a pillow... and he just loves the 'Thomas' pillowcase!
