Thanks girls! I was a bit stressed out because you always hear about how some cereals are so high in sugar. There is some great suggestions. Thanks alot xx
We're big big porridge fans in our house but If you're not wanting to go through the hassle of making porridge every morning you can cook up a big batch and keep it in the fridge for a few days.
When you're ready you scoop out the amount you want, mix it up with some milk or soy milk (whatever you prefer) to the right consistency and then warm it gently in a pot or in the microwave.
my son is now 3 but when toddler and with other kids we made pop sweeties.. that was weetbix and rice bubbles mixed together. now he loves bran with what ever dried fruit i put in it i normally do raisins or sultana's and put 2 prunes on the side for him he loves it!!!
Porridge fans here as well.. DS (20 months) loves Porridge with honey. Everymorning he wakes up and says POK, milk, honey, cook.. hehehe.. he used to have 2 weetbix everymorning up until our trip down south in October where he started spitting it out. Then from then on he changed to Porridge.
Porridge is great for them -very healthy and also low GI too. Sultana bran is also quite good and if you add a little hot water to it, you still get the same consistency as weetbix.
Em, you can get cornflakes sweetened with fruit juice in the health food aisle. I think they are organic too. Autie loves them for a change now and then.
Our favourite is rice puffs (the ones in the health food aisle) with some milk (soy for us but whatever) and some acidopholus yoghurt. Put in some ground linseed and nuts like cashew and pistacio and then if you want to sweeten a little put a dash of honey. But if I can't be bothered it is just the rice puffs or weetbix, or porridge in winter.
