Obviously you haven't seen my DS, cause no child is as gorgeous as mine!
But seriously, DH is always asking people "Don't you think he's really cute? Isn't he the cutest kid?"
just wondering......
i OFTEN catch myself or DH looking at other children and comparing their 'looks' to Jacks....
Have you ever thought to yourself....'oh that boy/girl is not as cute/goodlooking as xxx'
Sad to say..i have often looked and thought that![]()

yes, many times. But as a parent we have the right to be biased.
i am actually sad admitting that!!!!!
but in all honesty...i am sure everyone does it.....i often hear DH commenting on other peoples bubbas....and i say to him...'you can't say that!!!' and he turns around and says to me...but didn't you just comment on that other baby??
i feel really horrible now admitting this!!!!
I don't...I think all kids are cute.
Obviously mine are much cuter, but I really honestly think all kids are adorable in their own way!
DH on the other hand is a tad more biased, lol.
Yep, totally do it. I have always thought DS was the cutest kid ever, but the funny thing is, when I look back at photos of him when he was younger (and not at his current level of uber-cuteness!), I think "hm....maybe not as cute as I thought".
I was at a friend's house recently and she was like "I just beleive how handsome my son is". I really don't think her kid is cute, so I didn't know what to say! But it goes to show every mama thinks her kid is the best, as they should! I think its lovely how biased we are!
Im guilty too!! And I know when I see ppls new borns at hospital and I say "oh he/she is adorable.." sometimes I dont really mean it and DH will say when we leave - not as beautiful as Bella! Thats bad huh!
I think we are juts hard wired to think our kids are the best EVER!
And by the way Isabella IS THE CUTEST EVER!! hehehe
Well, I just think I have the most gorgeous children in the world!!![]()
Oh I am sooo bad for it. I dare anybody to tell me they produce better-looking offspring than DH and I lol
DH is heaps worse for it though, at least I can acknowledge freely when I *do* spot a cute kid that does not have some of my DNA - DH flat-out refuses to fathom that his baby girls have equals among them lol![]()
I have noticed when I look back at photos of the boys when they were younger that they aren't quite as perfect looking as I thought at the time (still gorgeous though). So I am very much aware that beauty, even with our kids, is in the eye of the beholder and try not to be too biased!
FWIW, I do think all kids are gorgeous, but I also appreciate their uniqueness - their personality traits, quirks and funny things they do.
You know the other funny thing is, when someone says to me "oh, he's really cute", I just glow with bursting pride- EVEN THOUGH I say this to others when I only kind of half mean it (secretly thinking their kid is not half as cute as my kid)...so I KNOW in my head they could be just saying it to be nice, but my heart hears it like "oh, I knew I was right- I have the cutest kid ever!".![]()
I definitely think we see our own kids in a totally different light, not just in looks but also personality, skills etc. Where someone may just see a baby we see a beautiful little boy/girl who is funny/outgoing/strongwilled/insert adjective here. But just as far as looks though I think my boy is so handsome but also has a lot of charm. But there are some kids at my mums group who are just sooooo cute that you notice straight away. I am far more likely to notice if a girl is cute than a boy.
One of the midwives at the hospital told me that we think our babies are the cutest for their survival - if we didnt we may neglect them or do something nasty when they are screaming in the middle of the night. So every mother IS going to think their bub is the cutest ect!!
Ha ha! Actually sometimes when DS is really frustrating I think "thank god you're cute".
Haha! We do it with our OWN kids! We say surely #1 wasn't this cute at this age? And then we look at pics the same age and go...oohhh yeah he was! So fun.
I definately think my girls are the cutest in the world![]()
bilby doesn't have grandparents around to fuss over her, and when complete strangers say to me (in shops) "she's so gorgeous, i bet you get told that all the time", i just dont' know what to say. Ever since she started growing more hair, i'm amazed at the amount of people that NOW can see she's a girl. We always copped "what a lovely little boy" before.
i can look at her objectively and know she wouldn't win "beautiful baby" competitions, but there are so many aspects to her, that make me feel so proud and i feel she is lovely, regardless of imperfections. i don't need a perfect looking child, the fact that she is not an affectionate child, and cannot hold a conversation with me (speech delay) is much more on my mind, that what she looks like. Except for height, i cannot lie, i am disappointed that she is short like me.
i find myself comparing her with other children though, because other kids her age speak much more (no contest) and i see them being cuddly with their mums.
To make myself feel a bit better, i also note that she is one of the few kids in her childcare room to be tt-d and without a dummy. Got to look for the positives - although i wouldn't say this out loud, i wouldn't want to offend the mums whose kids are not tt-d and still using dummies (but speak really well, eat really well, are cuddly etc).
