Crying when wrapped?

Hi,
I was just wondering if anyone else's bubs cries when getting wrapped up? DS is 5months and has been over wrapping for a while now but wont settle without being bundled up - with summer approaching I was wondering how others have handled 'unwrapping?'

With DD I just began to make the wrapping progressively looser (I used to wrap her really really tight like a mummy) until she would setle without it. But she was wrapped until 9 months - she was born in Dec so I wrapped her all through the hot months - just used a muslin wrap and put her to bed in singlet and nappy with only a sheet over her after she was wrapped.

My DD is a week younger than Beau!
She sounds exactly the same. Cries when being wrapped but can't sleep with her arms out! We haven't started to unswaddle her yet. She doesn't roll much so until she does, and wrapping becomes unsafe, we'll keep doing it for a bit longer. But like sportychick said, I think we'll just try wrapping her more loosely and see how she goes.

In regards to the temperature, I've been thinking about that too..Perth has been quite warm lately and this weekend we are going up north to Broome to see the ILs (where it has been 38 degrees lately! yikes!)..but I'll put her to bed in something VERY light, and we use muslin wraps so hopefully she won't cook too much!

We wrapped DD#1 through summer with a singlet (sometimes without) and nappy and we used a cot sheet - but instead of bringing the bottom of the wrap/sheet up over her legs, we would tuck it into the end of the cot.

With DD#2, hates being wrapped but won't generally settle unless she is so we compromise and wrap her legs only and again tuck the remainder of the wrap into the end of the cot. When the temp has gone up, instead of laying her on the wrap and bringing it over her twice, we lay the wrap on top of her and wrap it underneath her so there is only one layer on top of her legs if that makes sense...again tucking remainder into the cot.

At night, we do still wrap her arms as well but have been wrapping her fist near her face as it seems that sucking on her fist is soothing for her. If we pin her arms, she fights, protests, struggles, wiggles and generally complains until she has fought her arm out and fist into her mouth.......so I just try and save her the time and energy Sometimes she still has a few restless moments over night as she stirs and bops herself in the head but she has started to resettle herself so I think with her its just been a case of getting use to those active arms!!

I agree, and have already decided next time around I dont think I will wrap bubs at all. We are often told not to "make a rod for our own back". But then we do all the things that are recommended & so on & end up having to break yet another habit.

Charlie wouldn't sleep unless wrapped too as I think it became a comfort thing, but we were up some times 7x a night re-wrapping him when he escaped. Istarted giving him the wrap whilst feeding before bed time to cuddle into & then we pop him into his sleeping bag, into bed & just plop the wrap on top of him & he plays with it & cuddles it. Since starting this he now sleeps through the night at 6.5months, so so far so good.
It's often a pain & you need to find something that works, or a bigger wrap. I've bought every wonder wrap & none worked. But someone told me that bubs just knows when they are ready & it seems the case here. He started rolling around in bed & not wanting arms restriceted but the comfort of the wrap.

I also did the singlet and nappy thing, With bunny rug sized sheet.
