    Thank you ladies.
Kelly, I'm yet to read the article you sent me. Been flat out, but thankyou. We really dont want to go done the road of yelling and smacking DD, although I must admit somedays really push me on the edge to do so.

TooMany, you have opened my eyes up and I think you have summed it up great! I am probably setting myself unrealistic expectations.

After reading everyone's reply i realised she's not a brat but a normal toddler.

Thank you all ladies, i feel calmer already even when she chucked her morning tanty because she wanted the powder duster =)

Hi just wanted to pop in and say thanks for posting this question and for the replies. I've read Toddler Tactics and my 16month old DD has just started the screaming, finger pointing 'no's', tanty throwing in the last few weeks!! It is hard because she can't communicate so I get at her level as it said in Toddler Tactics and try to make her point out whats wrong or cuddle her and I tell DP that she can't communicate and he needs to be more understanding....(I don't wanna go down the smacking path either). I'm now going to re-borrow Toddler Tactics from the library as a refresher and check out the 'what every parent needs to know' book recommended by BellyBelly and PET, thanks so much AS my DD goes through stages it's like I have a 'flashback' and remember what it was like to not be heard or understood so I'd like to try to 'hear' her better. Good to know she's not the only one chucking tanties!!
