Unhappy Help! What is this rash??

It started as little pimples about two weeks ago and it is only getting worse!!

She also has what I thought was nappy rash but it isn't clearing (I have a pic if anyone wants to see). It's all over her bum, fanny and is spreading down her thighs. I change her nappy twice each feed, apply cream and it seems to be just spreading (no sores or broken skin).

I am now thinking it maybe infected with thrush?

    Any Ideas??

It looks to me (being not anywhere near an expert) as baby acne.
I have a link here somewhere with rashes. Just google baby and rashes. The mayo clinic one was helpful to me. See slide 5.
But I guess if in doubt, get your dr to check it.

The face stuff does look like acne - is it only on the face? I would have expected it to clear over two weeks... do you use anything to wash her with? Or apply creams? Try no creams on the face for a week and see if there is an improvement and use plain water to wash with...
Re: nappy rash - I would probably get it checked if it is spreading. Could be something else going on such as an allergy, infection etc.

Probably wouldn't hurt to get both checked... or if you're due to see the MCHN you could ask them...

Apparently baby acne can last until 1 year of age (just from what I have read).

    Thanks heaps girls

It has cleared up heaps, both her face and her bum! Weird that it flared so badly. Maybe it was something I ate?? Dunno.

it started to appear on her scalp, to was getting all crusty (but is wasn't cradle cap) with pretty big pussy pimples... very yuck!! I gave her a bath and gave her hair a really good wash with som Gaia baby shampoo and it has settled like the rest of it.
Anyway thank you allagin, I have appointments with the MCHN and the Dr next week, so if it flares again I will see what they say.

Its not a hormone rash is it? Jesse had it quite bad, and also being he was born around the same time of year (warmer weather), he had a bit of a heat rash mixed in. So once the pimples had gone his skin looked the same. He had is all through his hair, over his face and neck.

Have a look at these photos:
    Hormone Rash
    Heat Rash After Pimples

My poor baby lost his hair at the same time as you can see in the last photo.. looked like a little old man going through puberty! hehe

I just rubbed in sorbelene to the dry skin. Not much else you can do apart from just waiting for it to clear. Doesnt effect bubs what so ever.

    Best of luck.

He's cute Kell Yu know now I think about it, I had a very small break out when she first showed signs of the rash... so I think hormones may have been a contributing factor!
The worst thing about it now it that it's all dry and flaky! I'll just keep up the moisture and see how we go

If there is crustiness and pussiness on the head perhaps it is a staph infection or something?
Oh the joys of unexplained rashes in bubs.

Ok, so the MCHN said the rash on her face is just hormone rash... a bad case but nothing to worry about. She suggested sorbolene. I have been using aromababy lotion... it's heaps better.

Her nappy rash is Thrush!! I have a fungal cream but it hasn't done anything so far... fingers crossed!!

Tanya, my DD had this at around 6 weeks old. Apparently I was told that it was caused by my hormones changing and it comes through the breast milk. It lasted about 2 weeks I think.
