Good luck with it hon. Our DD responded really well - different baby in 48 hours!! Crushing and using a syringe is hard work. We quickly changed to the liquid losec made by a compounding chemist. Yes, more expensive but SO much easier for all involved. Well worth considering.

I hope she starts feeling better soon. I know losec is often prescribed first but zantac is much easier to administer, its already made up (not a suspension either), especially with bf bubs.

Saw the paed today at the hospital. What a traumatic event
The doc did a wee test & it came back not good so they put a needle into her belly into her bladder to get a sterile wee. I said I didn't want her to have it but they insisted said we couldn't leave until they were sure it wasn't an infection. Which is fair I just can't bare my baby girl to be in pain, I just want to protect her but had it been an infection it would have been much worse if we didn't find out & treat it. Turned out it was clear but they sent it off to be sure.
We now have Zantac for the reflux which I think will be much easier like you say studymum.
It has been a really rough week, my poor bubby

Awww, that's traumatic for both of you I hope the Zantac works a treat and if it doesn't, see your paed again and get onto Losec. Our DD didn't respond that well to Zantac at all, Losec was a completely different story.

    Keep us posted hon

Hi taurean.: we have losec too, will try Zantac and then losec like you said thankyou
Found losec a bit tricky with the little balls. Bub vomited them up & they were hard to syringe.

You have had a horrible week, I hope the Zantac works and you both get some rest.

Oh the poor thing. At least you are on the right track now. We found Zantac to work fine but we were on to it pretty fast so we only had to treat the effects not the cause. I know in severe ongoing cases the two can actually be used in conjunction. It will take at least a week to see dramatic improvement, but within the next day or so it should start to calm down. You can still use small amounts of mylanta before a feed to coat the esophagus to reduce discomfort if she is fussing badly. You may also find that she may stay fussy for some time, even though its no longer painful, its quite traumatic and they tend to not forget easily that it hurt once.

    oh big hugs hun

DD1 had to have a catheter inserted to get a urinalysis as well when she was in hospital dehydrated and it is horrible, she screamed, and it was only a couple of hours after them putting in a NGT which failed the first time and they had to redo it, so I can completely understand that You may find that for a few days she screams getting her nappy changed it was pretty traumatic for DD1, I hope it isn't the same for your DD.

I hope the Zantac works and you see improvement quickly, if not it would be worth getting the Losec through a compund chemist, sometimes the cost is worth it as DD happily takes it and doesn't vomit it back up xxoo

    Hi babyluv,

I really feel ya hon, I'm going through exactly the same thing with my dd. We saw Gp this morning & got a script for Losec.
Went to chemist & she said it's best to go to a compounding chemist as pp have said. We went & did that- she's on 5mg once a day, though the chemist said I can split the dose if it doesn't seem to last, or may need a bigger dose, just wait and see. So it's FX big time here.
I hope the Zantac works for you, but if it doesn't at least you know you have the option of the Losec. Good luck
