more question regarding 10-12 month olds!!

    sorry more questions

how long before bed does your little one have dinner???

    also

yesterday and today i;ve been out with DD2 (10.5 months) in a different environment and she's had a good arvo sleep (i mean over an hour, which at the moment is good) so im posing the question:

is she needing more stimulation from outside the home?? shes obviously stimulated here, were always playing etc.. but curious to know if its the change of environment that helped??
anyone else find that being out then coming home helps bubs sleep better??
both times she went back to bed within 3.5 hours of waking from the previous sleep

My son is 2 now but I always find he sleeps better when we've done stuff outside the house.

Can't help on dinner as we are bad at my house and never have it at the same time. We aim for 6:00/6:30 for dinner and 8:30/9:00 for bedtime, it's just hard to achieve as I never know when DH is coming home.

    Hi!

Dinner is at 6pm here and then bed pretty much as soon as they are finished ie teeth brushing, pj's etc. So about 6.45pm is bedtime.
I do find that they do get tired after being out somewhere but it depends on where we went and what they were doing. I find that they get a bit over it if we go out every day.

    Hope that helps!

ok Ill try to give some answers!

Bella has her meals roughly the same time everyday and she has "her" tea at approx 5 and then she will also have some more of our tea when we have it at about 7ish then her bottle before bed at about 8.30.

Bella will always have a huge sleep if she has been out and about - we took her to the toddler pool the other day and when we got back she slept for 2+ hrs. If she has been playing with other littlies she will sleep well too BUT Bella also sleeps for 2+ hrs if we have been as home also - but being out does help tier them out - as does walking / crawling more.

Our 1 year old little man has tea with his big sis at around 5pm (well it starts then but takes a while for him to eat, plus yoghurt and fruit for dessert), then he goes to bed around 6.15.

He often only has 1 sleep during the day now

I find if we go out then he's very tired by bedtime and he usually has a good nights sleep too.

I'd definitely try and give her some extra stimulation and see if that gets her sleeping better! I tend to try anything!!

In our house, we generally eat tea around 6pm (give or take). Then DS has a bath, story, breastfeed (where he falls asleep) and is in bed between 7.30pm-8.30pm. We're not very consistent with the time because I have a very 'friendly' family that like to drop in unannounced of an evening .

As for the day sleeps - I'm not sure. I haven't been out a great deal recently, so I don't have anything to compare to, lol.

Besides all this, DS isn't a good night sleeper (as you know), and his day sleeps are all over the place at the moment too. *sigh*

My 9.5 month old is in bed by 6pm every night. I start dinner around 5pm, then bath, breastfeed, cuddle, then bed. She's still having 3 sleeps a day but during middle sleep is getting longer and 3rd sleep is sometimes nonexistant so that's variable.

My probelm with DD sleeping after being out & about is that she drops off in the car and then I either have to drive around for an hour or hope that I can trasfer her to bed which is getting harder and harder.

you girls with bubs the same age as mine that go to bed around 6 or 7pm are doing well!! My DD used to but REFUSES since 8mths

DD used to have her dinner around 6pm but we now give it to her with us around 7pm because she doesn't go to bed til around 8 or 9pm anyway (she refuses to go to bed earlier and has since about 8mths! ) so we don't bother giving dinner too early these days....
She also eats what we eat (most nights depends what it is) so eating when we do, makes sense.

I too, find that if we've been out for a couple of hours, DD will sleep better when we come home. Although she usually will fall asleep in the car on the way home and then I transfer her to her cot (that usually works so i'm lucky).... but generally yes she will tend to sleep better if we've been out playing with other babies or shopping etc.

I find however in saying this, that some days that we are home all day, DD has her best sleeps.... and she's like your DD and not the worlds' best sleeper either!

The other day we were home all day and she slept 2hrs in the morning and 2hrs in the arvo!!! Ah! Bliss!!!

Don't worry Shanti. My DS has gone to bed early (8pm is early for him trust me) only in the last 3 days. Never before in his life has he been ready to settle until about 11...no matter what routine has been beset upon him...it would appear he has his own routine in mind lol.

Olive as for the original q's.
We eat dinner around 6ish. I try and get DH to bath the kids before dinner, as it A allows me to get dinner ready, and B DD is a hyper head so the bath is def not a relaxing place for DS. however tonight I am on my own I I bathed them after and he wasn't too bad. Then I get DD into bed around 7.15 (not what you asked but just explaining why I do what I do) and then BF DS about 7.30-8pm. He's drowsy then so I nurse him until he's asleep. So about 3ish hours for us. Sometimes he's super tired early and wants to sleep at 6, but that just means it's a nap and then he's up for ages (and if we drag it out he's overtired and won't go to sleep ).

As with the outing thing, hmmm not sure. DS is fighting his day sleeps like most of the others in this age category ATM. However I have found that this week as we've been without a car and only at home, he's actually better at sleeping. Maybe it's because they are awake longer and more interested in the different surroundings so like to be awake when you're out to see new things? DS is very hard to get out of his seat and keep asleep though, so rarely if he falls asleep in the car is the nap any longer than 10minutes (small town here, nothing is far away).

Bit OT, but I know DS is lots happier if we change 'locations' regularly throughout the day. Just simple things but moving from DD's bedroom to the backyard (hard though when it's 4000 degrees), to his room, to the garage, to the lounge etc etc. He has been amusing himself for ages with this program as such - something he's never done before - just crawling around looking at stuff, chatting away.

On bad days when DD has skipped her arvo sleep and is obviously tired & starting to whinge, I bring it all forward. 3 or 4 nights this week I've started dinner at 4pm & had her in bed by 5pm. She goes down for the night then with 1 or 2 10-2am wakeups and then the usual 4.30am wanting to watch the sun come up & party wakeup!! Have I mentioned I'm not a morning person?!
