    Sleeping Bags

    Hello,

I am thinking of putting my baby girl (3.5 months) into a sleeping bag to sleep. Just wondering if the room is about 18 degrees, how many blankets do I need on top of her and what clothes do I put on underneath?

    Thanks for any replies!!

Mmm tricky question! Isabelles room is 16 overnight and she has a s/s jumpsuit, l/s jumpsuit, a 2 grobag (sleeveless), a flannel sheet, a cotton blanket and a knit weave cotton blanket (all doubled over!) Sounds like alot and many people dont use anything over the sleeping bag but its cold in Melbourne!! Occasionally I have washed her grobags at the same time and used a long sleeve fleecy one and I have just taken one layer off. She has never been hot or clammy so this amount of layers is fine for her but each bubby is different!

Keep in mind cooler is better than too hot so maybe start on the cooler side- she will let you know if she gets too cold!
    Good luck!

I use the snugtime sleeping bags which are made from polar fleece and lined. I also have Caleb in lightweight pj's.

When he was small enough to stay put I had a sheet and one blanket for tucking him in. Now he's all over the cot I put him in with no blanket and wait till he's asleep and then sneak in and lay another blanket over him.

My DS's room is 17 degrees, and I use a Bonds sleeping bag, with a singlet and long sleeved growsuit underneath, and 1 blanket over the top. Seems to work for us (although the blanket never stays on for long)!

you generally are not advised to use blankets/sheets etc at all with a sleeping bag.

DS went in to a sleeping bag at 5 months. What to wear underneath depends on the warmth rating of the sleeping bag.

At the moment his room is usually around 16-18 at night when he goes to bed, but would drop to 14-16 overnight I suppose.

he wears a singlet, long sleeved bodysuit (no legs) and thinish/light flannel jammie pants, plus a 2.5 tog grobag. and some nights thats too warm for him so we take out the singlet.

Its getting too warm for his 2.5 tog bags though, we will be swapping to the 1 tog soon.
