What age did your bubba drop a day sleep altogether??
Hi!
I think I posted about this some time ago but I couldn't find it!! Just interested in hearing peoples responses...Louis can go without a day sleep when we're super busy and lately if he has a 2h nap in the day he doesn't want to go to bed...also he's been waking up earlier again...
Anyone with bubbas that dropped their sleep early??
I still enforce the day nap with my DD even if she doesn’t sleep she must have head down time regardless. She really could do without but I keep to my routine especially as Im due for bub #2. I need that time 10 times more than she so I persist. Its about 1/2 hour if lucky most days though she really has never been a good sleeper. My friend has 4 y/o twins who still have 2-hour sleeps through the day. It really varies doesn’t it.
I hope he doesn’t drop it for your sake, every mummy needs a break for lunch.
Nick had naps untill he was 3 1/2
Ryan still has them
If he sleeps better during the night and is not getting tired during the day, then i'd say stop the naps, but if you think he still needs even a small one you could just cut down how long he sleeps.
I've tried waking him up early from his nap but he just seems soooo grumpy!! Last night he didn't get to sleep until 8.30pm and was up at 6.20am this morning...I guess I'll see how we go...If we're out and about he misses his day sleep quite easily but is quite grumpy before bedtime...maybe I'll just follow his lead...I generally just put him down when it's around 1pm just because...
OK - yesterday he missed his day sleep just because we were out and about...we got him down as early as we could - about 7.15pm and then even though he was pretty cranky he went to sleep in 2 min.
Now today he zonked it and had a 2 1/2 hour sleep and was up before 3pm and it's now 8.20 and he's still mucking around - grrrr!!!!
So do I try to skip his sleep or do I wake him early??
Some more replies would be great!!! Thanks in advance!
Krisvee - im having the exact same problem with my DD atm.... if she doesnt have a sleep during the day she is so cranky at night she wont eat her dinner properly or anything... then when she does have a day sleep she goes to sleep pretty late (around 9ish) my dd fell asleep yesterday at about 11am (she must have been so tired because that is very unlike her) and she had about an hours sleep and was fine for the rest of the day.... i find if dd falls asleep to late in the afternoon its imposible for her to fall asleep at night
so in short im not to sure what u should do lol.
Thanks Nikki! Yeah I think he's been having his naps a it late...We've also been tough and if he's really naughty he goes to time out...after that he usually goes to sleep without too much fuss!! I guess I just keep having to work on it!!
DD has not yet fully dropped it, but will generally go without a day sleep 2 or 3 days a week, however I do try to enforce some 'quiet time' every day even if she doesn't sleep. She has to go to her room and play or read quietly for at least an hour. Sometimes she just puts herself to bed and just dozes off.
I find that that down time is enough that come dinner time she's not cranky and is still generally agreeable.
She goes to bed at night at 7:30pm and generally wakes at 7:30am, but if she didn't sleep during the day, she may not get up until about 8:00am.
Our DD stopped her day sleeps round 25 months or so, but now I just try and get to her to have some time out, where we will lay down together and watch a movie or read a book just so she can have a little rest
My DD turns 3 in January and still has a day sleep between 1-3pm generally. If she's not awake by 3.30pm I go in and wake her up. She then goes to bed about 7-7.30pm.
If we have a really busy day and we're out, she can go without one but she's a bit cranky at night and we have trouble getting her to eat her dinner etc too.
She's been refusing to sleep at MILs lately on the days I'm at work not sure what goes on there cause I have no trouble getting her to have a sleep at home. She doesn't run into her room like she used to for her nap, but it's not a battle or anything.
Today was funny...we got home from gymbaroo at around 12pm and Louis just went into his room and said "sleeping" hopped up got his dummy and blanket and went to bed! For an 1 and 45min!! LOL - he's never done that before...anyway so I thought he'd be more than ready for bed at 7pm but he still stuffed around. I did the time out thing again though and when I went to see him he said "bed" and wanted to go back to sleep and then I didn't hear another peep...hopefully If we keep being firm he'll stop mucking around so much...I mean we have a night routine that we've had forever so he's definitely just pushing boundaries...he obviously is still needing his day nap though to have put himself to bed!! hehehe.
