Talking Why not to lie down for a rest whilst children are awake...

For some reason today I was absolutely exhausted from the moment I woke up (may have something to do with the 2 monkeys in my bed!). We had gymbakids today and on the way home after lunch Alex usually falls asleep in the car and then I transfer him when we get home. So today I though you beaut, I will have a lie down whilst Alex sleeps and Gabriella can have quiet time in her room.

Unfortunatley it was not to be. We got home and our lawnmower man was there and so Alex woke up. I sent Gabriella to her room and took Alex into mine and lay down with him hoping to persuade him to go back to sleep. After 20 mins he decided that he wanted to get up. So I thought that I would lie down for a while as I was so tired...oh oh wrong descion.

I must have fallen asleep for around 45 mins and woke up to hear Gabriella telling her brother to go clean up the mess whilst she has a cuddle with mummy. In she came and snuggled next to me along with her brother who also couldnt resist and she proceeded to tell me that her and Alex had been playing circus's in his room.

Ohoh I thought. I got up and must say was very proud of the way Gabriella had looked after her brother, gotten them both their drinks from the fridge, helped herself to an apple, put on his favourite dvd, until I reached his bedroom.... WHAT A MESS. It was a circus alright, there are crayons everywhere, barbies, soft toys, around 30 books, blankets, pillows, baby dolls, guitars, balls from a stupid ballpit he got for his birthday last week, clothes, trains, cars, hairbrushes and lacky bands...EVERY TOY you can possibly think of is on the floor of his room to the point where you can not even walk in!!

I have left it there for a bit while I have a coffee and work my way up to helping them clean it up. Serves me right for daring to lie down. At least she kept him entertained I suppose!

I dare not imagine what else is underneath this pile!

At times like that I refocus - and thank above that they are happy, healthy and safe.

My son is becoming a great help to me this preg time - I think since bubba gave him a big kick that he felt and was soooooo amazed and realised there really is a baby in there I just have to tell them both mummy is having a lay down (I can't day sleep - bummer!) and they will now play happily for an hour or watch a movie.

I understand your vent though!!! but at the end of the day, it is just a bit of mess - not blood!!

I have to say, you are so lucky they kept it all in one room! If I dare to lie down, my girls drag everything out of their room, get food & drinks - spilling something everywhere, & usually pull the lounges apart for slippry dips!

Once I got started it wasnt as bad as I had expected it to be. But this was one instance where I didnt get the kids to help me clean up otherwise it would have taken 10 times as long!

And yes I did feel much better after my nap thank you!
