    Urine output???

My 19mth old DD hasn't been well. SHe has a cold and conjunctivitis. Anyway, without going into too much detail and making it a looong post, I will get to the point LOL.

This morning she woke up with a dry nappy. So went from 6:30pm-7:30am without doing a wee (I must say she didn't drink much if any of her milk she has before bed last night). After drinking some water this morning, I checked her nappy again at 8:15am and she had done a small wee. It was strong smelling but I am currently putting it down to the concentration of it.

I changed a small pooey nappy at 10:30am and didn't notice a wee inside. She had drunk a fair bit of water by then and has continued to drink water and had a small amount of her milk. I am hoping that when she wakes her nappy is wet.

WDYT? I would think that she wouldn't get dehydrated if she is drinking enough fluids, but I would also expect her to be weeing alot more? She normally has 5-6 wet nappies a day.

    Thanks for your input

    Hey Nadine

kiddies get sick quickly and get better just as quickly

if your little girl is content and alert when she is not sleeping, she ought to be ok...as long as you keep offering fluids and she takes a sips. If after 24hrs she is still not flash, not really taking much fluids and still is not had a good wee best to get her checked out

hope she gets better soon...Jay just got over a cold and conjuctivitis too, so I sympathise

    Hi Nadine
I agree with yogababy. Your little one does not have much in the way of body fluids so they can dehydrate quickly if not drinking. It will take a little while to buld up the fluid reserves again so you can expect her urine output to be a little low for a few hours. Keep offering drinks and if the urine has not returned to normal by tomorrow then take her to the doctor

Thankyou Alan. I checked her nappy when she woke and my guess is that she had done 1-2 wees in it. So better then nothing. I will keep monitoring her, and she is drinking for me, which is reassuring.

    Thankyou again
