Wow - I jumped on here with hope in my heart and just got the wind knocked out of me by tactless comments on here. I appreciate that it must get boring hearing people harp on about vaccines and other everyday items contributing to autism but if everyone gave up investigating a theory at the first failure how much knowledge would we be lacking today. Now I haven't read the article yet due to the fact that i am freaking exhausted after dealing with my son with autism all day because its holidays and he is having a meltdown but those of you who have mentioned you have some basis of scientific understanding can't honestly sit there and say that it is impossible for some element in vaccines or food or environment to trigger a cascading reaction that leads to the developement of autistic traits in some with a predisposition to the disorder!!! Will it help my son, no but will it help my daughter or my nephews and neices yet to be born, or my grand kids??? Maybe but if people keep shutting it down then we are never going to figure out what the damn trigger IS!
I agree there are far to many brilliant amazing mums and dad out there who think something is WRONG for it to be ignored comepletly! And I might add to my knowledge there still needs to be done a comprehensive study on the effects of vaccines or other environmental factors on families with a predisposition to autism - perhaps that might have an impact on all of those referenced studies who claim there is no significant difference!
