    Umbilical Cord Clamp on newborn...

    Just wondering...

(I have totally forgotten what I did with DS, and he is only 2!)

With the clamp on DD's belly button....do I just leave it on there until it all dries up, and the leftover cord falls off....or do I remove the clamp before?

I only ask because the top of where her belly button will be is starting to bulge out a lot due to the weight of the clamp, and I guess I don't want it to heal that way, and don't think this happened with the others....but I also can't remember what I did with the clamp!!!

Total baby brain, I have the MCHN coming early next week for the first visit, so I suppose I could ask her, but I would like to know beforehand!

My kids were all cut off before I came home I think... The clamp itself I mean...

Yeah I asked for it to be taken off. It doesn't need to stay there till the cord drops off.
