See if you can have a walking cast - then you should be ok to put weight on it during labour.

The fit ball may be your friend.

I guess the birth pool is out if you are in a cast. Fitball could definitely help you move your hips etc without pressure on your foot. a stool to kneel your sore leg on could also work if you want to half stand. Having a partner who you can hang off could also help.

Active labour to me doesn't mean big walks but more ability to change position and rotate and wiggle your hips and tummy as you feel the need.

Labour might help you forget your sore foot, or the other way around.

    most definitely!

Time to do some research on what kind of active positions you can try. I second the fit ball. you can sit on it, or roll over the top of it. your birth support can also act as a 'crutch' and support you as you breath deep and drop into them (ie hanging your hands off their shoulders...this can be done either standing - if you get the boot - or off the side of the bed and just drop your upper half).

    time to get creative
