one of my friends has birthed through the bc at mmc twice so i'll ask her. I've birthed at monash twice but not through the bc. the first time though I did end up staying in one if the bc family rooms with a double bed (although dp wasn't to stay and they had me in a normal bed). this time I got lucky again and had a single room. there are a few single rooms with single beds. I think they normally keep them for people who've had tougher births and I just got lucky.
