I have been reading a book recently regarding criminal behavior (not suggesting Evan has this!) and it sighted some studies that showed a link between severely traumatic births and a slight increase in hyperactivity disorders. But from the sound of it his birth wasn't THAT traumatic physically.

There have been studies that have shown that if the mother had an extremely stressful pregnancy then this can have an effect on the stress hormones that the child is exposed to.

It is possible that Evan has some sort of predisposition to anxiety (many predispositions to certain mental disorders are inherited - doesn't mean that you will necessarily develop it but can have a predisposition) I think that it is possible that his male role model deals with things in a particular way and so that is the way that he has learned to as well. I won't get into the whole nature/nurture debate.

There is also a number of studies that show that the first born of a family tends to be more anxious than subsequent children because they naturally feel certain pressures to perform.
