My bub was 12 days overdue and I tried everything to bring labour on! Nothing worked... Until...

My midwife asked me why I was holding back, what was I afraid of?
I thought it was a bit of a silly question at first (I thought I was soooo ready to have the baby!!) but then the tears suddenly flowed and the words tumbled out of my mouth that I was afraid to have my DD present at the birth (homebirth, she was going to be there)! It shocked me that in the back of my mind I was so worried about it yet I didn't realize til that moment! I had been all for having her there.
I had a talk with DD and asked her if she really wanted to be there and she admitted that she didn't want too (news to me!) but she thought that I really wanted her there so she didn't say anything! Poor sweetheart!
Long story short, we all decided DD wouldn't be there for the birth, I relaxed about the whole thing and finally went into labour!
What I'm trying to say is.. Is there anyone you can talk to about your fears? It really helps to get things out in the open. I think sometimes our bodies hold back for a reason.

Goodluck... Sending lots of labour vibes your way! x

We all hate the waiting game when you hit your due date and it just keeps going...I remember it well and was SO sick of it, every single day.

But the first reply was spot on - we have to wait. They come when they are ready. This is the joy of havings kids...they are not us, they are independant and do what they want despite what we would like!

It sounds mean that you should have to wait but that is not my intention. We all get to this point! Use the time to chill as much as possible.

Have a good old cry, the type where you have rivers of snot and everything lol. It is such a huge release of emotions that sometimes you just need to let it all so that your body can let go. The mind is a powerful thing and like Stoked said, if there is something in your mind holding you up, you wont go into labour.

I know how frustrating it is when you have been having pre labour pains for weeks. My DD was born at 41 weeks (7 days over) and I had been having cramps and labour pains for weeks leading up to it.....

Have a good cry and let it all out..... she will only come when ready You want to let nature take it's course naturally.....

Acupuncture session the day before i went into labour helped I think!!

both my boys where 11 and 10 days, respectively over. with the S&S you can have them done every second day (i had three all up before Vic was born)

babies come when they're ready. they're funny little things. my advice, relax and enjoy the last of thoes kicks/punches and little things like that.

I posted this in another thread the other day.. I now believe that all "Natural" induction methods do for you is cause long frustrating pre labours.
I second the relax, rest up & just sit back & wait.
She will come when she is ready. An EDD is just that only an estimate.
