I had fantastic midwives and support people but that did not stop me from feeling the pain. I barely talked throughout the labour as I just wasn't capable of it.

Home birth next time no way!!!!! Apart from the pain management aspect, Brock needed resusc equipment and ended up in special care 12 hours after birth (for 5 days) with an infection. Had I been at home I would not have even realised he was sick. He seemed OK to me. He probably would've died without medication.

To be honest though, I'm not planning on going through that again even though DF is trying to talk me into it. Too much for this old girl to go through again.

Satya - your midwives at a home birth would have checked your baby over and followed up on your care as you recovered. Any condition that would be noticed in the hospital, would be noticed at home.
It's a personal choice, and I totally understand that not everyone wants a homebirth, but it really is not unsafe at all for mother or baby.
