I'm due for induction on Thursday and feeling really nervous about the whole labour thing. Looking for some positive first time experiences to help get rid of the nerves, and any advice would be welcomed!
Hi Karla - I had my first bubs 7 months ago - and I too was quite nervous about labour. I had a fantastic experience - mainly due to knowing what to expect (as much as possible), knowing my options (regarding labour choices ie pain relief) and thanks to an awesome team of midwives and my OB.
It was an experience like no other but I'd do it again tomorrow!
Just trust yourself and your body - make informed choices (BellyBelly has some great articles and info) and make sure you surround yourself with people who understand the type of birth YOU want. For example I definitely did not want a c/s or to be induced (I was offered both) and my birth plan (do you have one?) was quite specific about my wishes. Whilst it didn't go quite to plan - I felt like I had options and some control.
Good luck - for me the best part of labour was the end of being pregnant - I hated the last trimester - hope you are holding your bubba in you8r arms soon,
All i can say is listen to your body and stay positive, go in with as much knowledge as you can without knowing the ins and outs of EVERY book.. lol, labour is never what you think it will be and i'm not sure anyone can truly prepare.
My 1st DD was born at home, i was alone on the bathroom floor on the phone to 000 and my mum and to make things worse she was breach... if i can get through that you can get through anything. https://www.bellybelly.com.au/forums...ome-birth.html
We women are amazing beings and can get through anything just to hold that gorgeous little bundle.
wow i just wanted to say that to give birth on bathroom floor is scary enough let alone being breech too thats amazing bet you wont for get that labour in a hurry
I was induced and maaaan I remember how terrified I was!!! I got through it though, and had the natural birth I wanted.
I think its important to believe in yourself and be confident, Controlfreak had some great advice for you there. Have a birth plan and discuss it with your support person and midwife so you know your options. Try to get some rest the night before! Best of luck!! It is scary, but that moment you hold your Baby in your arms will make it all worth it.
